Hoover was recalled from Triple-A Louisville on Tuesday.

Hoover opened up the season as the Reds' closer but struggled mightily in that capacity, ultimately posting unsightly numbers with a 14.34 ERA and 2.34 WHIP over 10.2 innings before being sent down to the minors. The 28-year-old reported making a mechanical adjustment and was able to get straightened out somewhat in the minors, but he doesn't figure to slot back into a back-of-the-bullpen role immediately upon rejoining the big league club.

Alvarez had his contract selected by the Braves on Tuesday.

The Braves swapped out a right-handed reliever in favor of a lefty by adding the southpaw Alvarez and optioning Ryan Weber to Triple-A Gwinnett. Alvarez was routinely shelled while at Triple-A Las Vegas as a member of the Mets organization early in the season, but a change of scenery to a more pitcher-friendly league has helped bring his stats back down to earth. He worked a 1.13 ERA across 8.0 innings at Gwinnett prior to getting the call Tuesday.

Weber was optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett on Tuesday, David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal Constitution reports.

It had been anticipated that Weber would be returned to the Triple-A affiliate, but the move was made official Tuesday to clear a space on the major league roster for Dario Alvarez. Weber has pitched well in the minors this season, working to a 2.81 ERA over 13 appearances (four starts).

Belisle (calf) was reinstated from the disabled list Tuesday.

Belisle hasn't pitched in the majors since he suffered a calf strain in late April, but he did have a rather lengthy rehab assignment, suggesting health shouldn't be an issue. Even with Jonathan Papelbon (intercostal strain) taking his place on the disabled list, Belisle doesn't figure to get much work in high-leverage spots.

Clarke, 23, has a 3.21 ERA and 59:15 K:BB through 70 innings across three levels in 2016.

Clarke had Tommy John surgery in 2013 but rebounded to become a third round pick in the 2015 draft. Clarke began this season at Low-A and made quick work of the opposition to the tune of a 2.83 ERA and 24:5 K:BB. He was then bumped to High-A where he posted similar numbers in four outings. He is currently at Double-A with a 4.42 ERA and 13:3 K:BB in 18.1 innings. Clarke has a ceiling of a No. 3 starter.

Sims, 22, has a 6.80 ERA and 54:34 K:BB through 46.1 innings for Triple-A Gwinnett.

Strikeouts aside, Sims has been awful since being promoted. He has allowed 11 home runs in 10 outings. An inability to keep the ball on the ground will only further serve to hurt him as he approaches the big leagues. He has also walked at least three batters in each of the last six games. Sims still has time to right the ship, but he has a ton of kinks to work out.

Hader fanned nine and walked four over six innings of one-hit ball against Memphis in his Triple-A debut.

The four walks ultimately prevented him from getting deeper into the start, and Hader's biggest test at the Triple-A level will be navigating opposing lineups while working in his home starts at Colorado Springs. His debut against Memphis took place on the road, but it was a good first step in his last stop before an eventual promotion to Milwaukee, which could occur before the end of 2016.

Weber will return to Triple-A Gwinnett on Tuesday, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.

Weber has pitched 10.2 innings for the Braves in 2016, for a 9.28 ERA and 2.06 WHIP. The struggling reliever will be sent back to Triple-A Gwinnett to make adjustments to his game. He could be called back up to the majors, but is mostly used for organizational depth purposes.

Garcia was optioned to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Monday.

Garcia was optioned in a corresponding move that will select Zach Eflin's contract before Tuesday's game. The reliever pitched two total innings in his most recent stint with the Phillies, letting up two hits, two walks and two runs.

Johnson (back) has been activated from the disabled list at Triple-A Iowa.

Johnson missed about six weeks with the lat injury and has managed just four starts with a 5.17 ERA and 1.71 WHIP thus far in 2016. He was one of the Cubs' top prospects entering the season and was considered a possibility for a midseason call-up, but he needs to show he's healthy before dreams of the next level can be entertained.
