The Brewers recalled Magnifico from Triple-A Colorado Springs on Tuesday.

Magnifico earned his first trip to the majors by posting a 3.18 ERA and striking out 54 batters over 56.2 innings in the hitter-friendly PCL. He will replace Michael Blazek (forearm) in the Brewers' bullpen and figures to open in middle relief.

Rodney struck out two and walked one in a strong ninth inning to earn his 21st save in Monday's 6-3 win over the Reds.

Rodney entered with a comfortable three-run lead, which allowed him not to panic after a lead-off walk to Zack Cozart. He faced no problems with the next three batters, which should come as a relief after the 39-year-old gave up a home run among four hits in his previous appearance.

Gearrin (shoulder) will make one more rehab appearance Tuesday at Triple-A Sacramento before returning to the Giants, Alex Pavlovic of CSN Bay Area reports.

Gearrin is healthy enough to return, but the Giants are still trying to figure out how he will fit onto their 25-man roster. Expect a decision to come shortly, but this appearance will buy San Francisco's management another day or two to think things over.

Rodney gave up four hits Sunday, including a solo home run, but was still able to come away with his 20th save of the season in a 5-4 win over the White Sox.

It took a great throw from Christian Yelich in left field to nail Carlos Sanchez at the plate on the final play of the game for Rodney to get the save, but the Marlins will take it. The bad version of Rodney has returned in August, as he has a 7.11 ERA and 4:4 K:BB in 6.1 innings over seven appearances, but with A.J. Ramos (finger) sidelined, the team doesn't have many other options for the ninth inning.

Hernandez picked up his 14th hold of the season in Sunday's 7-6 win over the Rockies. He allowed one run on three hits over 1.2 innings with two strikeouts and a walk.

The run allowed came on a solo home run by Charlie Blackmon -- the third long ball Hernandez has given up in his last two appearances. Since the beginning of June, Hernandez is 1-2 with a 5.81 ERA and a 30:17 K:BB in 31 innings.

Gearrin (shoulder) tossed scoreless innings in rehab games Friday and Saturday with Triple-A Sacramento.

Gearrin looks like he's ready to come off the DL and rejoin the Giants, but the team might be challenged to create room for him on the 25-man roster. The right-hander was serviceable, but not spectacular in 37 innings out of the bullpen with the big club earlier this season, contributing a 3.89 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 29 strikeouts.

Barraclough was charged with a blown save and a loss while allowing two earned runs on two hits and a walk in the eighth inning of Saturday's game against the White Sox.

He's blown two saves in his past three appearances with five walks over those games. Of course, he continues to pile up the strikeouts as well, punching out eight batters in those three innings and 87 batters in 52 innings pitched on the season. Alas, he also has 37 walks in that span, which limits his upside as a late-inning reliever. Barraclough has compiled a 3.12 ERA and 1.35 WHIP, but has been shaky since recently being thrust into a setup role thanks to a bevy of injuries up and down the pitching staff.

Chafin (shoulder) injured his groin during his rehab assignment at High-A Visalia, Nick Piecoro of AZCentral.com reports.

Manager Chip Hale said that Chafin tweaked his groin, so his return from the DL may be delayed. Chafin had been pitching very well at Visalia, having thrown four hitless innings over four games, walking two batters in that time. Further news on his recovery and expected return should be known in the coming days.

Garcia was optioned to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Sunday, Stephen Gross of the Morning Call reports.

Garcia struggled during his latest stint with the big club, allowing five earned runs off 10 hits over just 5.2 innings. He's put together a solid season at Lehigh Valley, where he owns a 2.58 ERA and 1.21 WHIP after pitching in 39 games. In a corresponding move, the Phillies recalled Adam Morgan.

Melancon recorded his 33rd save in Saturday's 7-6 victory over the Braves, giving up an earned run on two hits over an inning.

The closer inherited a tough situation in the ninth, coming on in relief of Yusmeiro Petit with two men on and one out. Melancon surrendered a run-scoring single to Ender Inciarte and a two-RBI double to Erick Aybar before getting the dangerous duo of Freddie Freeman and Matt Kemp to line out to right and ground out to shortstop respectively. The 31-year-old had last given up a run on July 19 versus the Brewers, and owns a stellar 1.50 ERA since joining the Nationals at the trade deadline.
