Neris struck out one in a scoreless inning of work to earn his 19th save of the season Friday against the Marlins.

Neris pumped eight of his 10 pitches in for strikes in this one as he sat down the side in order. He struggled a bit during the middle portion of August, but he has bounced back with seven consecutive scoreless outings, converting all five of his save opportunities in that span.

Peters tossed seven scoreless innings in a no-decision Friday against the Phillies, allowing three hits with three walks and eight strikeouts.

Peters excelled in his MLB debut, inducing a whopping 13 groundball outs to supplement his healthy strikeout numbers. He efficiently threw just 91 pitches and was in line for a victory upon his removal, but a late collapse from the bullpen cost him in that regard. Nonetheless, one could hardly ask for a more impressive debut, which Peters will look to build upon Wednesday against the Nationals.

Jansen tossed a clean ninth inning with a strikeout for his 36th save Friday against San Diego.

Jansen hasn't blown a save since July 23 and has struck out at least one batter in all but one of his 17 appearances since then. He now owns a brilliant 32:4 K:BB over 17 innings in that stretch with a 0.56 ERA and 12 of his 36 saves.

Lamet (7-6) struck out 10 and allowed just one run on six hits and three walks over six innings but still took the loss Friday against the Dodgers.

Lamet has fired three quality starts in his past four outings and has been sharp in the second half. He now owns a 3.18 ERA with 56 strikeouts and has allowed just three home runs over 51 innings since the All-Star break. In a lost season for the Padres, Lamet has been a bright spot, giving the club some hope for the future.

Melancon will be shut down soon to undergo surgery to repair a recurring elbow injury, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports reports.

With the Giants out of the playoff running and September callups coming up to fill the bullpen, there is little reason to keep running Melancon out there. The procedure Melancon is slated to undergo has a recovery time of 6-8 weeks, so he should easily be healthy come spring training 2018. He may make a few more appearances before his season ends, but expect Melancon to be placed on the disabled list relatively soon.

Erceg will join Triple-A Colorado Springs for the Pacific Coast League playoffs, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

The 22-year-old will try his hand against Triple-A pitching after closing out his time with High-A Carolina with a .296/.384/.480 line in August. Despite this aggressive assignment, it seems likely that Erceg will begin next season at Double-A Biloxi.

Hoover was recalled by the Diamondbacks on Friday.

Hoover rejoins Arizona during the team's first wave of September call-ups after spending the last two weeks in Reno. The right-hander has been a regular sight in the Diamondbacks' bullpen this season, tossing 33.2 innings of relief work while compiling a 4.28 ERA.

Bracho was recalled by the Diamondbacks on Friday.

Bracho rejoins the big-league club prior to this weekend's series against the Rockies with roster expansion in effect for September. Through the 2017 season, Bracho has posted a 4.91 ERA and 1.16 WHIP over the course of 14.2 relief innings, and figures to serve in a low-leverage role with the team moving forward.

McGrath was called up by the Padres on Friday, Jeff Sanders of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

McGrath rejoins the Padres during the first wave of September call-ups, and figures to slide back into a low-leverage role within the club's bullpen. During five appearances in the majors this season, he's posted a 5.40 ERA and 1.05 WHIP over 6.2 innings.

Hoffman was recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque on Friday.

Hoffman returns to the big-league club with the expansion of the roster, and could potentially make his way back into the rotation in the near future. Manager Bud Black hasn't addressed the situation as of yet, but the right-hander has made 16 starts for Colorado this season, with the latest coming against the Braves on Aug. 17.
