  • Rafael Montero RP | NYY

Mets' Rafael Montero: Picks up fourth win Monday

Montero (4-9) earned the win after allowing four runs on five hits and five walks while striking out three batters over 5.1 innings Monday against the Phillies.

Montero breezed through the first five frames before a three-run sixth inning chased him from the contest. Despite the unremarkable outing, Montero has picked it up lately, posting a 2.10 ERA and 24:11 K:BB over his previous four starts (25.1 innings). The 26-year-old still owns an unsightly 4.8 K/BB on the season, which makes him a difficult pitcher to trust. His next start is scheduled for Sunday against the Mets.

  • Mark Leiter RP | ATH

Phillies' Mark Leiter: Knocked around for nine runs Monday

Leiter (2-5) took the loss after allowing nine runs -- eight earned -- on nine hits while striking out two batters over 3.1 innings Monday against the Mets.

It was a rare blowup from Leiter, who hadn't allowed more than four runs in any of his six starts prior to Monday's shellacking. The poor outing raised his ERA from 3.88 to 4.74, but he still owns a serviceable 1.30 WHIP and 7.8 K/9. He'll look to bounce back in his next scheduled start, which is projected for Saturday against a tough Nationals team.

  • Josh Fields RP | MIL

Dodgers' Josh Fields: Reinstated from DL

Fields (back) was activated from the disabled list ahead of Monday's game against the Diamondbacks.

As expected, Fields is set to rejoin the Dodgers after a minimal 10-day stay on the shelf. Now that he's back with the big club, expect Fields to return to his role as one of the top setup men behind closer Kenley Jansen. He owns a 2.68 ERA and 49:14 K:BB through 47 innings out of the big-league bullpen this season.

  • Mark Melancon RP | ARI

Giants' Mark Melancon: Hoping to put off surgery until offseason

Melancon confirmed Monday that he would eventually require surgery to relieve chronic exertional compartment syndrome in his right forearm, but hopes to put the procedure off until after the season, Andrew Baggarly of The Mercury News reports. "I guess that's the best way to put it: I need surgery, and I'm day-to-day," Melancon said. "I'm trying to last as long as I can."

Melancon ended up making an appearance out of the bullpen Friday against the Cardinals after it was announced earlier that day that the right-hander would require surgery, so for the time being, he'll attempt to pitch through the issue and provide aid to the Giants' setup ranks. However, manager Bruce Bochy said that if he notices Melancon's performance slip in his subsequent outings, the Giants could have him go under the knife before the season comes to an end. The prospect of an offseason procedure probably eliminates any hope Melancon had of recapturing closing duties from Sam Dyson in 2017, though Melancon's four-year, $62 million contract will probably keep him in the conversation for the ninth-inning role in spring training. The forearm procedure usually requires a recovery timeline of 2-to-3 months, so Melancon might not face any restrictions when spring arrives.

  • Josh Edgin RP | WAS

Mets' Josh Edgin: Set for knee scope

Edgin will undergo arthroscopic surgery on his left knee Tuesday, Matt Ehalt of The Record reports.

After being outrighted off the Mets' 40-man roster early in August, the veteran reliever cleared waivers and reported to Triple-A Las Vegas, with whom he made three appearances before being shut down with the knee injury. Although an official recovery timetable hasn't been established for Edgin, he'll likely be fully healthy in advance of spring training, though it's unclear if the soon-to-be free agent will have signed with a team by then. Edgin will probably have to settle for a minor-league contract this winter after submitting a 3.65 ERA and underwhelming 1.54 WHIP and 6.6 K/9 rate in 37 innings with the Mets in 2017.

  • Matt Moore RP | BOS

Giants' Matt Moore: Start pushed back to Friday

Moore's next start will be pushed back to Friday against the White Sox after he was used out of the bullpen Sunday, Paul Gackle of The Mercury News reports.

Moore tossed a pair of scoreless innings while striking out one in Sunday's loss to the Cardinals. The Giants reshuffled their rotation over the weekend due to Madison Bumgarner's illness and the return of Johnny Cueto from the disabled list. The move actually benefits whatever fantasy owners are left hanging on to the disappointing southpaw, as he will face a light-hitting White Sox lineup as opposed to taking on the Rockies at Coors Field.

  • Brad Hand RP | ATL

Padres' Brad Hand: Saves 15th game

Hand worked around a solo home run to convert his 15th save of the season in Sunday's win over the Dodgers.

The Padres' closer has been in a bit of a funk recently, serving up six homers over his last 10 contests after not allowing one in his previous 23 appearances. Even though he has struggled limiting the long ball, Hand's 15 saves and 2.44 ERA keep him in the conversation as a top-10 closer.

  • Hector Neris RP | HOU

Phillies' Hector Neris: Picks up 19th save Sunday

Neris allowed a hit and a walk but struck out two in a scoreless ninth inning Sunday to notch his 19th save of the season in a 3-1 win over the Marlins.

He made things interesting, starting the ninth by walking Giancarlo Stanton and then watching Christian Yelich get an infield single, but Neris buckled down after that to lock up the victory. He's now a perfect 11-for-11 on save chances in the second half and hasn't blown one since June 21, but a lack of opportunities has put a cap on his fantasy value despite his success in the closer role.

  • Brent Suter RP | ATL

Brewers' Brent Suter: Spins just three innings

Suter pitched three scoreless innings with two strikeouts during Sunday's win over Washington. He didn't factor into the decision.

This was just a spot start for Suter, and it was actually his first appearance since Aug. 12, as he had been on the disabled list with a left rotator cuff strain. The 28-year-old southpaw projects to pitch out of the bullpen moving forward, so his fantasy value is limited.

  • Reds' Wandy Peralta: Dealing with hip injury

Peralta left Saturday's game in the eighth inning with what appeared to be a right hip injury, The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Peralta will likely be unavailable Sunday and will undergo further evaluation when the team returns to Cincinnati on Monday. It was clear something wasn't quite right Saturday when Peralta allowed four earned runs and only recorded one out, and it now seems as if the problem might have been something physical. There hadn't been much fantasy appeal here to start with, though Peralta has collected a career-best 13 holds this season. Consider the reliever day-to-day.
