Diplan was added to the Brewers' 40-man roster Monday.

In an effort to protect Diplan from the Rule 5 draft, the Brewers added him to the 40-man roster. Diplan struggled at High-A Carolina last season. Over 26 games, 22 of which were starts, he threw for a bleak 5.23 ERA and 1.57 WHIP. His control was lacking, as he posted a 119:71 K:BB.

Howard was added to the Rockies' 40-man roster Monday.

As a result of the move, Howard will now be protected from the upcoming Rule 5 draft. He put together another solid season in the minors, compiling a combined 3.32 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 104 strikeouts across 127.1 innings between Double-A Hartford and Triple-A Albuquerque. He'll likely start the season out at offering pitching depth at Triple-A.

Reyes (elbow) could join the bullpen initially upon his return next season, Rick Hummel of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

When pressed on the matter Tuesday, President of Baseball Operations John Mozeliak would not rule Reyes out for the start of the 2018 season. However, Mozeliak hinted that the team could hold Reyes back until closer to May 1, and deploy him in the bullpen initially, as a way of preserving him for later in the campaign. Reyes' future is almost certainly in the rotation, but the Cardinals won't want to push their luck with the top prospect. He underwent Tommy John surgery in February.

Mantiply signed a minor-league deal with the Reds on Monday that includes and invitation to spring training, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.

Mantiply spent all of 2017 with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre after failing to break camp with the Yankees. He held his own in the minors, compiling a 2.83 ERA and 62:18 K:BB in 70 innings, but never received a promotion thanks to New York's elite bullpen. He'll compete for a bullpen spot with the Reds out of camp, though he could wind up at Triple-A to open the season.

De La Rosa (elbow) signed a minor-league contract with the Diamondbacks on Wednesday.

De La Rosa was recently released by Arizona on Sept. 1 in order to free up a 40-man roster spot, but will rejoin the organization heading into the 2018 campaign. The right-hander is unlikely to see any time on the mound this upcoming season after undergoing Tommy John surgery -- for the second time -- in late August.

Garcia will be in the Dodgers' bullpen mix in 2018, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.

Garcia missed the entire 2017 season while recovering from Tommy John surgery, but he's expected to be good to go for the start of spring training next season. The 27-year-old owns a 3.12 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 81:12 K:BB in 75 innings across parts of three major-league seasons. He'll compete for an Opening Day bullpen job; even if he doesn't break camp with the big club, he should see some big-league action.

Carasiti was added to the Cubs' 40-man roster Monday, Mark Gonzales of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Carasiti turned in a 3.26 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 68:23 K:BB in 49.2 innings between Triple-A Iowa and Triple-A Albuquerque last season. While he didn't appear in the majors in 2017, Carasiti registered a 9.19 ERA, 2.30 WHIP and 17:11 K:BB across 15.2 innings with the Rockies in 2016. He'll look to compete for a bullpen spot in 2018.

Moore's team option was exercised by the Giants on Monday, Andrew Baggarly of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

After a strong finish to the 2016 season, hopes were high that Moore would be able to improve in 2017 and capitalize on having a full year to throw in the pitcher-friendly AT&T Park. However, rather than take a step forward, Moore regressed and posted a 5.52 ERA and 1.53 WHIP over 32 games. He'll have a chance to rebound in the upcoming season, but could run the risk of being used as an extended reliever should his struggles persist.

Smith (elbow) was removed from the 60-day DL on Friday.

Smith underwent Tommy John surgery in March, but was able to start throwing again in September, which marked the first step in his recovery. It's still expected that the reliever will miss a little time at the beginning of the 2018 season, as Smith still has a long ways to go before returning to action.

Miller (elbow) was reinstated from the 60-day disabled list Friday.

Miller underwent Tommy John surgery in early May and was actually able to throw off flat ground in October, so it remains to be seen what his timetable will be heading into the 2018 season. At this point, it seems likely that the right-hander will begin the season on the DL, but it will all depend on how he progresses during the offseason.
