Bowman notched his third hold in the Cardinals' 5-3 win Saturday over the Diamondbacks, firing a scoreless seventh inning in which he recorded two strikeouts.

Bowman needed just 14 pitches to dispose of Nick Ahmed, David Peralta and Ketel Marte. That makes it four straight scoreless efforts for the 26-year-old right-hander, following a clunker of an Opening Day against the Mets in which he allowed three earned runs while only getting one out. That outlier aside, Bowman looks as effective as would be expected based on his overall body of work in his first pair of Cardinals campaigns.

Brebbia was recalled from Triple-A Memphis on Sunday, Joe Trezza of MLB.com reports.

Current major-league reliever Ryan Sherriff was diagnosed with a hairline fracture on his big toe Sunday, which will likely lead to a stint on the disabled list, opening up an opportunity for Brebbia to make his way to St. Louis as a bullpen reinforcement. The 27-year-old posted a 2.44 ERA (4.13 FIP) over 51.2 innings of relief with the big-league club last season.

Jansen allowed two hits in a scoreless inning Saturday against the Giants.

Jansen has been a hot topic early in the season due to his decreased velocity. Saturday, he worked the 12th inning and allowed two baserunners, but did also get a strikeout. There has been wide-ranging speculation as to what has held back Jansen early on, but the Dodgers have expressed confidence that he will return to his old form.

Vizcaino (1-1) took the loss Saturday after giving up a run on one hit and three walks in two-thirds of an inning.

Vizcaino had trouble finding the strike zone, ultimately walking Tony Wolters on four pitches to force in the winning run. Control continues to be an issue for the closer, as he has already issued six free passes in just 3.2 innings this season. This is the first run he's allowed this year, but he has yet to collect a save through the team's first eight games.

Iglesias allowed one hit and struck out one across one scoreless inning to record the save Saturday against the Pirates.

After allowing an earned run in his first outing of the season, Iglesias has bounced back in his next two appearances to work two clean innings and record two saves. He's secure in his role and is showing no signs that he will struggle, making him a safe option at closer.

Yates was removed from Saturday's game due to right ankle inflammation.

Thankfully the injury isn't to his arm, but he did appear to be in a fair amount of discomfort when he came out of the game after just one pitch. No word has come forth as to how long he'll be out, but he should be good to go as soon as the swelling goes down.

Peters allowed nine earned runs on nine hits while walking three and striking out three across 2.2 innings in a loss to the Phillies on Saturday.

The Marlins lost by 19 runs Saturday, and Peters put them behind immediately after allowing a grand slam to Maikel Franco in the first inning. Peters saw some success in his season debut but lacks swing-and-miss stuff. It likely won't be as bad as Saturday anytime soon, but he won't survive all season in the rotation if his struggles continue.

Yates was removed from Saturday's game due to an apparent injury, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.

Yates had only thrown one pitch before being lifted from the contest. No word has come forth as to what the problem is or how severe it is, but things should become clearer relatively soon.

Lamet (elbow) progressed to throws from 90 feet Saturday, Dennis Lin of The Athletic San Diego reports.

Lamet threw from 60 feet on flat ground Friday and continues to advance quickly through his recovery, with manager Andy Green indicating Lamet felt "very good again." The 25-year-old will likely continue throwing at 90 feet Sunday but still has no definitive timetable for his return.

Strop (2-0) was the winning pitcher in Saturday's game against the Brewers. He retired both hitters he faced, with one coming via strikeout.

Strop has yet to allow an earned run in 4.2 innings of work this season, and he's been rewarded with two wins through the team's first eight games. After tying a career high with five wins in 2017, Strop could get to six wins or more if he keeps this up. He also should be a fairly consistent source of holds moving forward, though he's yet to record one in 2018.
