Dominguez tossed a scoreless eighth inning in his major-league debut Tuesday against the Giants, striking out one and not allowing a single baserunner.

Dominguez came into the game with a 10-run lead and demonstrated why the Phillies called him up after throwing just 16.2 innings above High-A. He got the first two batters to pop out in foul territory before freezing Evan Longoria with a front door slider for his first career strikeout. His stuff was as advertised, with a fastball that sat at 97-98 mph and a slider in the high 80s. It's a profile that looks like a future high-leverage reliever, though how quickly Dominguez can work his way into a more important role remains to be seen.

Brebbia was called up from Triple-A Memphis on Tuesday.

The callup is Brebbia's third of the season. In his two previous stints with the Cardinals this year, he's thrown five scoreless innings, striking out seven without walking a batter. He'll take over a low-leverage role from Ryan Sherriff, who was optioned to Memphis in a corresponding move.

Bowman fired 1.2 scoreless innings in a shutout loss to the Twins on Monday, allowing a hit and issuing a walk while recording three strikeouts.

Bowman has now generated scoreless efforts in three of his past four trips to the mound, an encouraging stretch that comes on the heels of a pair of rough outings in mid-to-late April. The 26-year-old right-hander is valued for his ability to provide multiple innings out of the bullpen, but issues with the long ball in the early going have led to some inconsistency. Factoring in Monday's line, his ERA and WHIP still sit at an unsightly 5.14 and 1.79, respectively.

Gott (ankle) hit a batter, allowed one walk and struck out two during a scoreless eighth inning Monday night against the Padres.

Gott appears to have fully recovered from a sprained ankle after entering Monday's game out of the bullpen. He managed to throw a scoreless inning despite struggling with his command, Mark Zuckerman of MASN Sports reports. Gott has accrued a 5.40 ERA and 1.29 WHIP over 11.2 innings this season.

Garcia (1-1) allowed seven runs on six hits and two walks across four innings while taking the loss Monday against the Cubs. He struck out three.

Garcia was touched for some detrimental long balls in this one, including two-run home runs in the first and fourth inning, with a three-run blast sandwiched in between. While it was a difficult matchup, this poor outing came out of nowhere for Garcia, who'd allowed just four earned runs through 33 innings heading into play. He'll face a tough matchup as he tries to bounce back Saturday against the Braves.

Strahm (knee) was activated from the disabled list Monday.

The southpaw had been on the DL since the beginning of the season due to knee surgery he underwent in July. Now that he's back with the Padres, Strahm will act as a long reliever. To make room for him on the active roster, Kazuhisa Makita was optioned to Triple-A El Paso.

Guerra was returned to Triple-A El Paso on Monday.

Guerra spent some time in the big leagues as the Padres' 26th man for the series in Mexico. With the team returning stateside, he'll head back to the minors. He went hitless in two pinch-hit appearances and will look to improve his .244 batting average with the Chihuahuas.

Mayers was optioned to Triple-A Memphis on Monday.

Mayers is likely unavailable for a couple of days after tossing three innings of relief in Sunday's extra-innings win over the Cubs, so the Cardinals opted to send him back to the minors in order to clear a roster spot for Monday's starter, John Gant. The 26-year-old now owns a 1.86 ERA across 9.2 innings of relief this season, so he'll be one of the top candidates to rejoin the big club when a fresh relief arm is needed.

The 23-year-old transitioned to the bullpen this season and took to it immediately. He struck out 18 batters with a 2.08 ERA in 13 innings for Double-A Reading before tossing 3.2 scoreless innings for Triple-A Lehigh Valley. He had never pitched above High-A before this season, so expectations shouldn't be too high, but relievers can sometimes develop very quickly and he could be one of them. If he continues his dominance at the major-league level he has a chance to stick with the team the rest of the year and work his way into a higher-leverage role. He certainly has the stuff to be an impact reliever, with a fastball that can touch 99 mph and a plus slider that sits in the high 80s. A corresponding move has not yet been announced.

Leiter (forearm) began a rehab assignment Sunday at High-A Clearwater, tossing a perfect eighth inning and striking out a batter.

The appearance marked Leiter's first game action in a competitive setting since mid-March after a forearm strain suffered in spring training resulted in the right-hander opening the season on the 10-day disabled list. Leiter had been in contention for a rotation spot prior to sustaining the injury, but he'll most likely be deployed in long relief or work as a starter at Triple-A Lehigh Valley once he's activated from the DL. He only threw eight pitches Sunday, so he'll have to build up his count in subsequent rehab outings before an activation can be considered forthcoming.
