  • Mets' Robert Gsellman: Could start second game of Monday's doubleheader

Gsellman is an option to start the second game of Monday's doubleheader against the Braves, but he won't be stretched out if he does get the assignment, Kristie Ackert of The New York Daily News reports.

Mets manager Mickey Callaway has apparently been paying attention to what the Rays have been up to, and he's considering deploying Gsellman or Seth Lugo for an abbreviated "start" much like the ones Sergio Romo has been making. Lugo seems the more likely candidate of the two, however, as Gsellman has become a key part of the late-inning mix in front of closer Jeurys Familia. If either of them do get the nod, don't expect that pitcher to last more than 2-3 innings, making it impossible for him to pick up a win and limiting his fantasy appeal for the day.

  • Dylan Floro RP | ARI

Reds' Dylan Floro: Pitching well in long relief

Floro has pitched well as a long reliever for the Reds since his promotion from Triple-A Louisville, posting a 1.80 ERA over 20 innings, along with an 18:5 K:BB ratio.

Floro has managed to avoid the long ball so far, and he also has a 84.6 percent strand rate, which likely means that this performance level is unsustainable. But he's at least provided some stability in a difficult role, as his workload is pretty scattershot. Often his appearances are four-to-five days apart.

  • Kenley Jansen RP | DET

Dodgers' Kenley Jansen: Notches 11th save Friday

Jansen pitched a clean ninth inning with two strikeouts for the save Friday against the Padres.

He finished off the Padres on 12 pitches (nine strikes) to earn his 11th save of the season. Jansen entered May with a 5.59 ERA and has given up only one run this month to bring his ERA down to 2.78 on the year. The 30-year-old is holding opponents to a .205 batting average while carrying a 25:6 K:BB in 22.2 innings. The last time Jansen blew a save was April 17, converting nine straight saves since then.

  • Alex Reyes RP | LAD

Cardinals' Alex Reyes: Won't have special restrictions upon return

Cardinals president of baseball operations John Mozeliak says Reyes (elbow) will not be bound by any special constraints upon his expected activation early next week, Joe Trezza of MLB.com reports.

Reyes was originally slated for a May 1 return, but he was moved to the 60-day disabled list at the beginning of April to accommodate Greg Holland's addition to the 40-man roster. That essentially gave the hard-throwing right-hander an extra month to build his strength up, and it's shown. Reyes has compiled a whopping 44 strikeouts over 23 rehab innings, throwing over 90 pitches in each of his last two outings. The Cardinals plan on utilizing the same pitch-count parameters and high-inning stress assessments that would apply to any 23-year-old prospect when evaluating Reyes in his forthcoming starts. Moreover, the extra recovery time he's been afforded should now allow Reyes to pitch through the duration of the regular season and into the postseason, if applicable.

  • Cory Gearrin RP | NYY

Giants' Cory Gearrin: Lowers ERA to 3.48

Gearrin gave up a hit and a walk with a strikeout while recording two outs in Friday's loss to the Cubs.

Gearrin got off to a rough start this season, but has since turned things around with a 2.61 ERA in 10 appearances in May. The veteran reliever now owns a 3.48 ERA overall while striking out a batter per inning, but his 5.75 FIP -- mainly due to an uncharacteristically high 1.8 HR/9 -- and a lack of hold chances should keep him off the fantasy radar.

  • Jorge Lopez RP | WAS

Brewers' Jorge Lopez: Optioned to Triple-A

Lopez was sent to Triple-A Colorado Springs on Friday, Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Lopez will head back to the minors after appearing in six games for the Brewers, posting a 4.35 ERA and 1.65 WHIP with eight strikeouts and six walks across 10.1 innings. Adrian Houser was recalled from Triple-A to replace the 25-year-old right-hander.

  • Alex Reyes RP | LAD

Cardinals' Alex Reyes: Strikes out 13 more

Reyes (elbow) threw seven scoreless innings and struck out 13 batters in a rehab start with Triple-A Memphis on Thursday.

Reyes recorded 12 and 13 strikeouts in his previous two rehab starts, and he struck out another 13 batters Thursday night. Over four rehab appearances Reyes has totaled 23 innings while allowing zero runs, seven hits and posting a 44:7 K:BB -- numbers that certainly indicate he is ready to join the big-league rotation. That could happen as soon as Tuesday when the Cardinals face off against the Brewers.

  • Adbert Alzolay RP | NYM

Cubs' Adbert Alzolay: Struggles continue Thursday

Alzolay gave up five runs on nine hits and three walks in five innings Thursday to take the loss for Triple-A Iowa. He struck out three.

Alzolay has struggled a bit over his past four starts, allowing 17 earned runs in 18.2 innings, and his ERA has climbed from 2.12 to 5.30 in that stretch. The 23-year-old was a potential option for the Cubs in a doubleheader last weekend, but the team will likely let their top pitching prospect get more work at Triple-A and try to iron things out before any potential callup this summer.

  • Luis Ortiz RP | NYM

Brewers' Luis Ortiz: Returns from disabled list

Ortiz (hamstring) has been activated from the disabled list and will start Thursday night with Double-A Biloxi, team broadcaster Garrett Greene reports.

Ortiz missed over a month with his hamstring injury, but he is ready to get back on the bump. Ortiz posted a 2.11 ERA and 22:7 K:BB in 21.1 innings over four outings prior to his injury.

  • Padres' Adrian Morejon: Dealing with stiff neck

Morejon was scratched from his last scheduled outing due to neck stiffness, Dennis Lin of The Athletic San Diego reports.

The 19-year-old left-hander isn't expected to miss an extended amount of time with the issue, so he'll be considered day-to-day moving forward. Morejon has made seven starts for High-A Lake Elsinore this season, posting a 3.67 ERA and 1.32 WHIP with 36 strikeouts and 14 walks over 34.1 innings.
