Matt Bowman RP | MIN
Cardinals' Matt Bowman: Another bullpen Tuesday
Bowman (finger) threw another bullpen session Tuesday and could begin a rehab assignment later this week according to general manager Michael Girsch, Joe Trezza of MLB.com reports.
That's three throwing sessions overall in the last six days for Bowman, who's apparently tolerating the workload well. The 27-year-old hit the disabled list May 18 with blisters on both his right index and middle fingers, and the time off from throwing that he took appears to have benefited him significantly. If he suffers no ill effects from Tuesday's activity, Bowman appears likely to see game action at the minor-league level at some point this week.

Alex Reyes RP | LAD
Cardinals' Alex Reyes: Will receive second opinion
Reyes will travel to Philadelphia on Wednesday to visit a specialist to determine the severity of his right lat injury, Joe Trezza of MLB.com reports.
General manager Michael Girsch recently stated that Reyes is dealing with a significant strain and is expected to miss multiple starts as a result. The Cardinals will send him for a second opinion before moving forward in his rehab. Carlos Martinez was activated from the disabled list Tuesday and will take Reyes' spot in the rotation.

Silvino Bracho RP | CIN
Diamondbacks' Silvino Bracho: Rejoins big club Tuesday
Bracho was recalled from Triple-A Reno on Tuesday.
The Diamondbacks needed a fresh reliever after Monday's starter, Zack Godley, lasted just 3.1 innings, so Bracho was summoned to the majors to replace Jake Barrett -- who tossed two innings of relief Monday -- in the bullpen. The 25-year-old owns a sharp 1.08 ERA, 0.84 WHIP and 12:4 K:BB through 8.1 innings with the Diamondbacks this season.

Luke Jackson RP | SEA
Braves' Luke Jackson: Contract purchased from minors
Jackson had his contract purchased from Triple-A Gwinnett on Tuesday.
Jackson will take the roster spot of Julio Teheran (thumb), who was placed on the 10-day disabled list in a corresponding roster move. The 26-year-old allowed two runs in a pair of relief appearances (1.1 innings) for the Braves earlier in the season. He'll likely be limited to low-leverage work during his time with the big club.

Matt Grace RP | ARI
Nationals' Matt Grace: Reinstated from DL
Grace (groin) was activated from the 10-day disabled list Tuesday, Chelsea Janes of The Washington Post reports.
Grace is set to rejoin the Nationals after getting through a pair of minor-league rehab appearances with Double-A Harrisburg setback-free. He allowed an unearned run on four hits while striking out three across two innings during his two outings with the Senators. The southpaw compiled a 5.06 ERA across 10.2 innings with the Nationals prior to landing on the shelf. Jeremy Hellickson (hamstring) was sent to the disabled list in a corresponding roster move.
-
Tim Collins RP | CHC
Nationals' Tim Collins: Back from paternity
Collins was reinstated from the paternity list Tuesday, Chelsea Janes of The Washington Post reports.
Collins is back with the big club after spending two days away from the team while attending the birth of his child. The 28-year-old hasn't allowed a run across 3.1 innings of relief with the Nationals this season.
-
Mike Mayers RP | TOR
Cardinals' Mike Mayers: Shipped back to minors
Mayers was optioned to Triple-A Memphis on Tuesday.
Mayers was the corresponding roster move to clear a spot on the Cardinals' active roster for Carlos Martinez, who was brought back from the disabled list ahead of his scheduled start against the Marlins on Tuesday. The 26-year-old Mayers owns a shiny 2.30 ERA across 15.2 innings with St. Louis this season, so he should be back with the big club as soon as a fresh bullpen arm is needed.
-
Shelby Miller RP | CHC
Diamondbacks' Shelby Miller: Builds up to 79 pitches Monday
Miller (elbow) made his second rehab start at Double-A Jackson on Monday, tossing 4.2 innings of one-run ball and scattering four hits and four walks. He struck out six batters in the outing.
Despite the high walk total, Miller still pounded the zone effectively Monday, tossing 52 of his 79 pitches for strikes. The Diamondbacks will probably want to see Miller build up to 90 pitches before deeming him ready to return from the 60-day disabled list, so it seems likely that he'll require one more start in the minors. Assuming Miller is activated around mid-June, he could slide into the Arizona rotation, though the strong performances of late from Nos. 4 and 5 starters Matt Koch and Clay Buchholz, respectively, make that less of a certainty than it appeared to be a couple weeks ago.
-
Pierce Johnson RP | CIN
Giants' Pierce Johnson: Sent back to minors
The Giants optioned Johnson to Triple-A Sacramento following Monday's 10-3 win over the Diamondbacks, the Associated Press reports.
Johnson tossed two scoreless innings Monday while the game was well in hand for San Francisco, lowering his ERA to 5.83 in the process. With former starter Ty Blach now on hand to work in long relief after being dropped from the rotation, Johnson became somewhat of a redundant piece in the San Francisco bullpen. The 27-year-old should receive more regular work upon returning to Sacramento, with his demotion clearing a spot on the active roster for Madison Bumgarner (finger), who is set to return from the 60-day disabled list Tuesday to make his season debut.

Dereck Rodriguez RP | ATL
Giants' Dereck Rodriguez: Earns another start
Rodriguez will get to make at least one more start, Kerry Crowley of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
Rodriguez put together a strong showing Sunday against the Phillies, as he was able to notch his first career win. Manager Bruce Bochy stated that Rodriguez will make another start, although he'll likely head back to Triple-A Sacramento when Jeff Samardzija (shoulder) returns from the disabled list, which could be in a week or two. Rodriguez's next outing figures to come Saturday against the Nationals.
