Dereck Rodriguez RP | ATL
Giants' Dereck Rodriguez: Garners another start Thursday
Rodriguez is listed as the Giants' probable starter for Thursday's game against the Marlins, MLB.com reports.
After shutting down the Phillies at home in his first MLB start June 3, Rodriguez scuffled in his follow-up effort Saturday in Washington, failing to escape the third inning and surrendering five runs on six hits and three walks. Despite that rough showing, Rodriguez will be given a prime rebound opportunity against a Marlins offense that ranks last in the majors with a .288 wOBA. With Jeff Samardzija (shoulder) expected to begin a minor-league rehab assignment Thursday or Friday and likely to require two outings on the farm before returning from the 10-day disabled list, Rodriguez should be in store for one more start beyond Wednesday if he fares respectably in the outing.

Matt Strahm RP | KC
Padres' Matt Strahm: Starting another bullpen game Tuesday
Strahm will serve as the Padres' starting pitcher as part of a bullpen game Tuesday against the Cardinals, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.
With Joey Lucchesi (hip) still on the disabled list and not set to begin a minor-league rehab assignment until Thursday, it appears the Padres will go with bullpen games for at least the rookie lefty's next two turns through the rotation. Strahm has already made two starts in place of Lucchesi, topping out at 2.1 innings (30 pitches) in his most recent outing June 6 against the Braves. Strahm could handle around three innings Tuesday, but it seems unlikely that manager Andy Green will push him much deeper into the game than that with former rotation members Robbie Erlin and Bryan Mitchell available in long relief.

Matt Bowman RP | MIN
Cardinals' Matt Bowman: Solid in third rehab, activation imminent
Bowman (finger) allowed an earned run on three hits over two innings in Triple-A Memphis' loss to Reno on Monday. He struck out three.
Bowman's one slip-up was the solo home run he allowed to Socrates Brito, but he was mostly effective otherwise for a third straight rehab appearance. Since the blister issues that landed Bowman on the disabled list never resurfaced during his stint with the Redbirds, the right-handed reliever is on track for activation by the end of the week according to president of baseball operations John Mozeliak, Joe Trezza of MLB.com reports.

Ryan Helsley RP | BAL
Cardinals' Ryan Helsley: Dealing with shoulder fatigue at Memphis
Helsley is on the 7-day disabled list at Triple-A Memphis with "shoulder fatigue" according to president of baseball operations John Mozeliak, Joe Trezza of MLB.com reports.
The right-hander has gone 5-3 with a 4.12 ERA over 12 minor-league starts, including a 2-1 tally with the Redbirds. Mozeliak stated that the organization isn't overly concerned, but that they are being careful with their highly regarded prospect. "For us, its really taking a timeout. His volume was up. For us, it's more being conservative and trying to be smart," Mozeliak said.

Kyle Barraclough RP | BOS
Marlins' Kyle Barraclough: Earns third save with scoreless inning
Barraclough recorded one strikeout in a clean inning of work to earn his third save of the season Monday against the Giants.
Barraclough was dominant in this one, throwing nine of 11 pitches for strikes as he retired the side in order. This clean outing continued a stretch of dominance that's seen the right-hander rattle off 13 straight scoreless outings to lower his ERA to 1.27, to go along with a 0.85 WHIP. Barraclough won't see too many save opportunities, but he's more than capable of helping enough in ratios to justify ownership and then some.

Caleb Ferguson RP | STL
Dodgers' Caleb Ferguson: Slated to start Tuesday
Ferguson is scheduled to take the mound Tuesday against the Rangers, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.
Ferguson will be recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City prior to his second major-league start of the year. He lasted just 1.2 innings, allowing four runs on two hits and three walks while striking out three in his lone big-league outing against the Pirates on June 6.

Carl Edwards RP | DET
Cubs' Carl Edwards Jr.: To play catch Tuesday
Edwards (shoulder) will play catch Tuesday, Carrie Muskat of MLB.com reports.
The inflammation in Edwards' shoulder has apparently subsided, clearing the way for him to pick up a throwing program. The 26-year-old remains without a timetable for his return, but one should emerge as he ramps up his throwing.

Anthony Bass RP | TOR
Cubs' Anthony Bass: Promoted to majors Monday
Bass had his contract purchased from Triple-A Iowa on Monday, Mark Gonzales of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Bass will join the big club for the first time all season after compiling an impressive 2.28 ERA across 23.2 innings with Triple-A Iowa. He'll offer a fresh arm out of the bullpen after two of the team's relievers (Luke Farrell and Cory Mazzoni) tossed more than an inning of relief in Sunday's loss to the Pirates. Mazzoni was sent to the minors in a corresponding roster move.
-
Daniel Ponce de Leon RP | WAS
Cardinals' Daniel Poncedeleon: Summoned to majors
Poncedeleon had his contract purchased from Triple-A Memphis on Monday.
Poncedeleon will join the big club for the first time in his career after compiling an impressive 2.41 ERA and 71:35 K:BB across 59.2 innings with Triple-A Memphis this season. The 26-year-old will offer a fresh arm out of the bullpen after Sunday's starter, Carlos Martinez, lasted just 3.2 innings. Luke Voit was sent to the minors in a corresponding roster move.

Jamie Callahan RP | NYM
Mets' Jamie Callahan: Set for shoulder surgery
Callahan will undergo shoulder surgery, Betsy Helfand of the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports.
Callahan, who has been on the minor-league disabled list since April 22 with a shoulder injury, will miss the remainder of the season after going under the knife. Prior to suffering the injury, the 23-year-old compiled a 9.72 ERA and 9:4 K:BB across 8.1 innings of relief.
