    Brewers' Josh Hader: Avoids suspension

Hader will not be suspended or fined in regards to offensive social media posts from years past.

Multiple instances of offensive tweets from Hader's social media account resurfaced during his appearance in the All-Star Game on Tuesday. The reliever spoke to the press following the exhibition, apologizing for his comments and stating that he would accept whatever punishment came his way. Though Hader escaped the incident without any major consequences, he will need to undergo sensitivity training and participate in the MLB's diversity program.

  • Anthony Bass RP | TOR

Cubs' Anthony Bass: Makes rehab appearance Tuesday

Bass (illness) pitched a scoreless inning with one strikeout in a rehab appearance with Triple-A Iowa on Tuesday.

Bass looked sharp, as he worked through his inning of work in just 11 pitches, with eight going for strikes. The 30-year-old was pitching well for the Cubs this season, posting a 0.63 ERA and 1.12 WHIP across 14.1 innings, and he'll likely return at some point to provide bullpen depth.

  • Jeff Ames RP | MIN

Brewers' Jeff Ames: Signs minor-league deal with Brewers

Ames signed a minor-league contract with Milwaukee on Tuesday.

Ames was assigned to Triple-A Colorado Springs. The 27-year-old has never reached the majors and had a 5.70 ERA in 23.2 innings with Double-A Harrisburg earlier this season. He had a stellar 34.7 percent strikeout rate for Harrisburg, but his walk rate has sat above 10.2 percent at every stop since 2014.

  • Nick Burdi RP | NYM

Pirates' Nick Burdi: Begins rehab assignment

Burdi (elbow) began a rehab assignment with High-A Bradenton on Monday.

Burdi will make his first competitive pitches since undergoing Tommy John surgery last May. The length of his absence means he'll need a long rehab assignment before being considered for major-league action, though the Pirates will have to call him up once his rehab stint ends as he was selected in the Rule 5 draft over the offseason. So far in his professional career, he's topped out at the Double-A level, recording a 3.17 ERA there in 63.2 innings with the Twins' Chattanooga affiliate.

  • Carl Edwards RP | DET

Cubs' Carl Edwards Jr.: Back from paternity list

Edwards was activated off the paternity list Monday.

The All-Star break means that Edwards ended up missing just a pair of games. He'll return to a high-leverage role in the Cubs' bullpen following the break. Rob Zastryzny was optioned in a corresponding move.

  • Edward Paredes RP | PHI

    Dodgers' Edward Paredes: Clears waivers

Paredes was sent to Triple-A Oklahoma City after passing through waivers Monday, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.

Paredes was designated for assignment Wednesday, and after receiving little interest from other teams, he'll head to the minor leagues. The 31-year-old lefty has appeared in 15 games this season for the Dodgers, accruing a 5.87 ERA and 1.17 WHIP with eight strikeouts over 7.2 innings out of the bullpen.

  • Cardinals' Daniel Poncedeleon: Tosses complete-game gem

Poncedeleon tossed a complete-game shutout Sunday in Triple-A Memphis' 8-0 win over Omaha. He gave up one hit and two walks and struck out five.

The 26-year-old has earned wins in each of his last four starts for Memphis, accruing a 1.38 ERA and 0.77 WHIP in 26 innings over that span. After delivering his first career shutout -- the first of the nine-inning variety by a Cardinals minor-league pitcher since 2016 -- Poncedeleon's next stop could be with the big club. St. Louis will open its second-half schedule Thursday with a five-game series with the Cubs featuring a doubleheader Saturday. Poncedeleon would be a logical option to serve as the Cardinals' 26th man for the twin bill and make a spot start in one of the contests.

  • Luis Garcia RP | MIN

Phillies' Luis Garcia: Rehabbing at Triple-A

Garcia (wrist) began a rehab assignment at Triple-A Lehigh Valley over the weekend, making two appearances and giving up two runs on three hits over 1.2 innings.

The 31-year-old, who owns a 4.74 ERA and 1.09 WHIP across 24.2 innings for the big club this season, has been on the shelf since June 12 with the strained right wrist. Garcia may make another appearance or two in the minors before likely rejoining the Phillies shortly after the All-Star break.

  • Matt Strahm RP | KC

Padres' Matt Strahm: Works in long relief

Strahm tossed three innings in relief Sunday in the Padres' 7-4 loss to the Cubs. He gave up one unearned run on one hit and a walk and didn't strike out a batter.

Strahm helped keep the Padres competitive after manager Andy Green pulled the plug on starter Eric Lauer, who lasted just two innings and gave up five runs. The 26-year-old lefty has been stellar this season while working as an occasional spot starter and long reliever for the Padres, accruing a 2.34 ERA and 0.98 WHIP over 34.2 innings.

  • Trevor Gott RP | WAS

Nationals' Trevor Gott: Sent back to minors

The Nationals optioned Gott to Triple-A Syracuse following Sunday's 6-1 win over the Mets, Chelsea Janes of The Washington Post reports.

Gott was only up with the Nationals for one day and went unused out of the bullpen in the victory. His demotion opens up a spot on the active roster that will likely be filled by Stephen Strasburg (shoulder), who is expected to be activated from the 10-day disabled list to start the Nationals' first game out of the All-Star break Friday against the Braves.
