Lambert (2-1) took the loss Wednesday as the Rockies fell 4-2 to the Astros, allowing four runs on five hits and three walks over five innings while striking out two.

After a promising beginning to his big-league career, Lambert has now given up at least three runs in each of his last four starts, serving up eight homers with an 8:4 K:BB over 17.2 innings during that rough stretch. Three of those outings have been at Coors Field, but it still looks like the 22-year-old may need more minor-league seasoning. It remains to be seen whether he'll keep his rotation spot after the All-Star break, but even if he does, Lambert's leash is likely to be a short one.

Wilson (1-0) earned the win Wednesday against the Phillies after giving up two runs on five hits over six innings. He struck out five and walked two.

Wilson looked much more comfortable in his second turn through the rotation and delivered 60 of his 86 pitches for strikes. The 21-year-old held the Phillies scoreless through five frames, but he struggled a bit during the sixth inning with two runs allowed on three hits. Wilson likely earned himself another turn as the fifth starter, but that won't come until after the All-Star break.

Lamet (elbow) will make his season debut Thursday against the Dodgers, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Lamet is nearly ready to go after recovering from last April's Tommy John surgery. He recorded an unimpressive 4.57 ERA in his 21-start debut back in 2017 but struck out a promising 28.7 percent of opposing hitters. He'll likely have his workload carefully managed the rest of the season, especially in his first few outings.

Beede was optioned to Triple-A Sacramento on Wednesday.

This move makes perfect sense, as Beede just started Tuesday. With the team off Thursday, Beede was not going to pitch again before the All-Star break. According to Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area, Beede will rejoin the Giants to start July 14 against the Brewers. In the meantime, Ray Black will be up to provide bullpen depth.

Helsley (shoulder) was activated from the 10-day injured list and optioned to Triple-A Memphis on Wednesday.

Helsley had already been with Memphis on a rehab assignment. He's thrown 10.1 innings at the big-league level this season, posting a 3.48 ERA and a 12:5 K:BB.

Clarke landed on the 10-day injured list with left back inflammation Wednesday.

The injury perhaps explains why Clarke was chased after just 3.2 innings Tuesday against the Dodgers. It's not clear how much time he's expected to miss, though the timing of the All-Star break means he likely wouldn't have started at any point over the next 10 days. Kevin Cron was recalled in a corresponding move.

Gallegos (1-1) took the loss against the Mariners on Tuesday, allowing one run on a solo home run and recording three strikeouts over an inning.

Gallegos' one slip-up cost him dearly, as he allowed Tim Beckham's first pinch-hit homer since 2015 in the eighth to snap a 4-4 tie. The 27-year-old reliever was otherwise dominant while mowing down Austin Nola, Dee Gordon and Mallex Smith. Tuesday's stumble aside, Gallegos has allowed only one other earned run since May 26, a 17-appearance stretch during which he's lowered his ERA from 4.35 to 2.79 while also collecting three holds.

Shaw failed to retire a batter and was charged with three runs on three hits Tuesday in the Rockies' 9-8 loss to the Astros.

Bullpen mate Jake McGee was handed the loss, but it was Shaw who was largely responsible for squandering the Rockies' three-run lead entering the top of the seventh. The right-hander allowed three consecutive doubles to begin the frame before he was mercifully pulled in favor of McGee, who recorded an out and then served up the go-ahead home run to Yuli Gurriel. After a disastrous 2018, Shaw's second season in Colorado is going only marginally better, as he maintains a 4.40 ERA and 1.30 WHIP across 44 appearances.

Strahm will pitch out of the bullpen through the All-Star break and potentially through the second half, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.

Strahm would be available out of the bullpen over the weekend regardless of his recent performances, as he doesn't have any starts remaining before the break. He could be the odd man out when Dinelson Lamet returns from Tommy John surgery, however, and could spend most or all of the second half in a relief role. He thrived in that capacity last season, posting a 2.05 ERA while striking out 28.2 percent of opposing batters. That gave him some hype this offseason upon his return to the rotation, but he's failed to impress, with his ERA ballooning to 5.42.

Quiljada (0-2) took the loss against the Nationals on Tuesday, giving up an unearned run on one hit in two-thirds of an inning.

A Neil Walker error at third base with one out in the ninth inning put a baserunner aboard, setting the stage for Trea Turner's walkoff double and handing Quiljada a tough loss. The young southpaw has a 3.38 ERA through his first eight big-league innings, but his 8:7 K:BB is a strong sign he may not be ready for high-leverage work.
