Smith (back) played catch from flat ground Friday, Amy Gutierrez of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Smith was initially hoping to pitch over the weekend, but it appears as though he'll be held out of game action until Tuesday. He's been nursing back inflammation since Saturday.
