Mayers (lat) fired a scoreless two-thirds of an inning Friday during which he allowed no hits and two walks in Triple-A Memphis' loss to Iowa. He now owns a 2.45 ERA through 3.2 innings across four rehab appearances.

The right-hander is out of minor-league options, so the Cardinals will keep him busy during his rehab assignment in order to prepare him for an eventual return to the big-league bullpen. Mayers was enjoying an impressive season prior to suffering his lat injury in mid-April, and he'll look to regain his form during his remaining time with the Redbirds.

Hader walked one and struck out one in 1.1 scoreless innings to record a hold during a 7-6 victory over the Pirates on Friday.

The Brewers turned to Hader in the bottom of the seventh while possessing a 2-1 lead. He recorded the final out of that frame and then made it through the eighth without allowing a hit. The Brewers scored four runs in their top of the eighth, so with a five-run lead, they elected to go with a different pitcher in a non-save situation for the ninth. That decision proved to be costly because the Pirates forced extra innings, but Hader is still 1-3 with 20 saves, four holds, a 2.09 ERA, 0.65 WHIP and 79 strikeouts in 43 innings this season.

Pomeranz (2-9) took the loss Friday, allowing four runs on six hits and four walks over four innings. He struck out three in a 9-4 loss to the Cardinals.

Pomeranz has struggled to go deep into games lately -- he hasn't pitched more than five innings since April 24 versus the Blue Jays. Pomeranz sports an unsightly 6.42 ERA and 1.77 WHIP in 16 starts this season. His first start after the All-Star break is scheduled for July 15 in the first game of a doubleheader in Colorado.

Hudson (7-4) pitched five innings Friday, allowing three runs on six hits and three walks while striking out six to earn the win in a 9-4 victory over the Giants.

Hudson got into a jam in the first inning, allowing a pair of runs, and he surrendered a solo home run to Alex Dickerson in the third inning. Hudson has a 3.51 ERA and 1.53 WHIP in 92.1 innings this season. He takes a 68:41 K:BB into his next scheduled start against the Pirates on July 15.

Diaz (1-6) took the loss Friday as the Mets fell 7-2 to the Phillies, coughing up four runs on three hits and a walk while striking out one in one-third of an inning.

The struggling closer entered the game to begin the ninth inning with the score tied 2-2 and promptly gave up a leadoff double to J.T. Realmuto and RBI single to Jay Bruce, and things went downhill from there. It's the third time in his last eight appearances Diaz has been tagged for three runs or more, sending his ERA soaring from 2.81 to 5.67 despite a superficially strong 55:11 K:BB through 33.1 innings on the year.

Young will start Sunday's game against the Rockies.

The 25-year-old lefty has been quite good in his two big-league appearances so far and the team will reward him with another start in the first-half finale. While Young threw only 26 pitches in relief during his most recent outing, he threw 74 pitches and completed five frames in his debut June 27 and should be available for a similar workload Sunday.

Lamet (0-1) was charged with the loss Thursday at Dodger Stadium, recording seven strikeouts while surrendering three runs on three hits and two walks over five innings.

Making his first major-league appearance since undergoing Tommy John surgery 15 months ago, Lamet proved he has much left to offer with a solid outing against a powerful Dodgers lineup. The 26-year-old retired the side in the first inning with just nine pitches but slipped up in the second by allowing a solo home run to Max Muncy. Lamet kept the Dodgers' bats quiet until the fifth, when he ran into trouble by loading up the bases on a pair of walks and a single. Lamet worked a full count to opposing pitcher Hyun-Jin Ryu but managed to strike him out. The 26-year-old then allowed a run by hitting Joc Pederson with a pitch and gave up a sacrifice-fly RBI to Alex Verdugo before finally escaping the inning. The right-hander will almost certainly continue on in the rotation following the All-Star break.

Iglesias allowed one hit in a scoreless ninth inning to record his 16th save of the season Thursday against the Brewers.

Iglesias didn't record a save between June 10 and June 29 but now has three in the last five days. His 4.06 ERA remains the highest mark of his career since his rookie season back in 2015.

Reyes was recalled from Triple-A El Paso on Thursday.

Reyes will be up for his fourth stint with the Padres this season. He owns an ugly 12.41 ERA in 12.1 innings of work so far in his rookie campaign.

Lamet (elbow) was activated from the 60-day injured list as expected ahead of his season debut Thursday against the Dodgers.

Lamet's 28.7 percent strikeout rate as a rookie back in 2017 gave him a bit of hype during last year's draft season, but Tommy John surgery in April of 2018 put that on hold for a while. He remains an interesting arm now that he's healthy again, though it's not yet clear how much his workload will be limited as he eases his way back into big-league action.
