Manager Dave Roberts said Jansen (ankle) will not be available Wednesday against the Phillies, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.

Jansen suffered a bruised right ankle after being hit by a comebacker Tuesday. While the closer said his ankle is feeling better, he's still dealing with some swelling and will miss at least one game as a result. Look for Joe Kelly or Julio Urias to get the ball should a save opportunity arise in Jansen's absence.

Iglesias was placed on the paternity list Wednesday.

Iglesias will be eligible to miss no more than three games while on the paternity list. Michael Lorenzen and David Hernandez appear to be the top options to get the ball should a save opportunity arise while Iglesias is away from the team.

Nelson (elbow) will begin a rehab assignment with Low-A Wisconsin on Sunday, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Nelson is having a rough season after missing all of 2018 for shoulder surgery. He owns an 8.36 ERA, a 2.29 WHIP and a 15:14 K:BB in 14 big-league innings. He's been out with a right elbow effusion since late June and will fill a relief role once he's cleared to return to Milwaukee.

Gsellman walked two batters but didn't allow a run in two-thirds of an inning during Tuesday's win over the Twins.

Entering the game in the fifth inning, the right-hander couldn't finish the frame and needed to be bailed out by Luis Avilan, missing out on a chance to get credited with the win in the process. That's actually an improvement for Gsellman, though, as he'd been scored upon in four of his prior five appearances. The poor stretch has inflated his ratios to a 5.07 ERA and 1.47 WHIP, and he has nearly as many blown saves (four) as he does holds (five).

Wilson (1-1) took the loss Tuesday, allowing four runs on six hits and three walks over four-plus innings while striking out one as Atlanta fell 13-1 to the Brewers.

Although he did give Atlanta a quality start in his last big-league outing, Wilson has otherwise struggled when called upon, posting a 6.75 ERA and 1.71 WHIP through 18.2 innings. It's not yet clear whether he'll remain in the rotation until Kevin Gausman (foot) and Max Fried (blister) get healthy, or whether the club will turn to one of its many other pitching prospects -- or, perhaps, a trade -- for help.

Iglesias (2-8) took the loss Tuesday as the Reds were downed 4-3 by the Cubs in 10 innings, striking out two but giving up a walkoff solo home run to Kyle Schwarber in an inning of relief.

The right-hander grooved a 96 mph fastball right down the pipe with one out in the bottom of the 10th, and Schwarber drove it just over the wall in left-center. It was the first homer and the first run Iglesias has allowed in six July appearances, but it's not a new issue for him -- he's posted a 1.52 HR/9 this year after managing a 1.50 mark in 2018.

Clarke (back) will start Friday against the Brewers, Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic reports.

Manager Torey Lovullo confirmed Clarke's return from the injured list following the right-hander's scoreless rehab start Saturday. Clark, who hasn't pitched in the majors since July 2, has a 6.21 ERA over 10 appearances (nine starts).

Young (3-0) picked up the win in Tuesday's 9-2 victory over the Rangers, allowing one run on three hits and a walk over 5.1 innings while striking out four.

It was a homecoming of sorts for the southpaw, who pitched for TCU just a few miles away from Globe Life Park during his college days, and Young certainly seemed comfortable -- only Joey Gallo, with a fourth-inning solo shot, was able to solve him. The rookie will take a 0.96 ERA and 13:3 K:BB through 18.2 innings into his next start Sunday, at home against the Brewers.

Smith gave up three runs on four hits (two home runs) while striking out two over an inning en route to his second blown save of the season Tuesday against the Rockies.

Luckily for Smith, the Giants were able to rally back and secure the victory, giving the closer his third win of the season. The 30-year-old has blown two saves in three chances since the All-Star break after going a perfect 23-for-23 prior to that. Tuesday's three-run meltdown was Smith's worst outing of the season by far. The veteran southpaw was able to bounce back after his first blown save last week, so fantasy owners shouldn't worry quite yet.

Pomeranz did not factor into the decision after throwing five innings of one-run ball Tuesday, giving up three hits and a walk while striking out four in an extra-inning win over the Rockies.

Pomeranz was actually in line for his third win of the season, but closer Will Smith uncharacteristically blew a three-run lead in the ninth. There were rumors that the southpaw and his 6.10 ERA could be moved out of the rotation this past weekend, but the team decided to give him another shot, and it paid off, all things considered. Pomeranz is still at risk of being converted into a reliever, considering the recent promotion of Andrew Suarez and Pomeranz's inability to go past five innings in all but one start this season. If he does get another turn in the rotation, it would come Sunday at home against the Mets, but he wouldn't be more than a strikeout streamer for that matchup.
