Morejon will be recalled to open Sunday's game against the Cubs, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

The Padres' official announcement lists Morejon as the starter, but the expectation remains that he'll be used in the opener role, according to Acee. That would match his usage at Double-A Amarillo, where he's been the first pitcher for his team in all 16 of his appearances but hasn't been asked to pitch more than three innings since mid-April and has only gone longer than two innings once during that stretch. Expect him to turn the ball over to Cal Quantrill after a frame or two Sunday.

Bowman was optioned to Triple-A Louisville on Saturday, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.

Bowman has thrown 19.2 innings for the Reds this season, recording a 4.58 ERA. He's been poor over his last five outings, allowing six runs in 4.1 innings of work. He and Jimmy Herget were optioned Saturday with Amir Garrett (lat) returning from the injured list and Raisel Iglesias returning from paternity leave.

Herget was optioned to Triple-A Louisville on Saturday, Bobby Nightengale of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Herget had been up since the start of July but was called on just three times, allowing three runs in 3.2 innings. He did not strike out a single batter.

Iglesias had been on paternity leave since Wednesday. He'll resume his role as the top option for saves in Cincinnati.

Andriese landed on the 10-day injured list with a left foot contusion Saturday.

Andriese owns a poor 5.91 ERA in 45.2 innings this season. His peripherals are respectable, though, as his 9.7 percent walk rate isn't terrible and both his 24.8 percent strikeout rate and 50.8 percent groundball rate are better than average. It's not yet clear how much time he's expected to miss. Stefan Crichton was recalled in a corresponding move.

Pomeranz will be available out of the bullpen going forward, Amy Gutierrez of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Pomeranz had been scheduled to start Sunday against the Mets, but Conner Menez will be called up to take his place in the rotation. The veteran could always reclaim his spot should Menez struggle, but he's had an ERA over six for two straight seasons, so the Giants likely won't try too hard to get him back in the rotation.

Menez will be called up from Triple-A Sacramento to start Sunday against the Mets, Amy Gutierrez of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Menez owns a 3.13 ERA in 95 innings across the two highest levels of the minors this season. He's struck out an excellent 31.8 percent of opposing batters while walking a respectable 9.3 percent. His arrival will bump fellow lefty Drew Pomeranz to the bullpen.

Hammer was optioned to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Saturday.

Hammer has a solid 3.79 ERA in 19 innings with the Phillies this season, but the underlying numbers don't come close to supporting that figure. Both his 16.1 percent strikeout rate and 14.8 percent walk rate are quite poor. He'll make way on the roster for Mike Morin, acquired in a trade from the Twins on Saturday.

Helsley was recalled from Triple-A Memphis on Saturday.

Helsley has a poor 5.06 ERA in 32 innings for Memphis, but he's actually fared better in 10.1 frames at the big-league level, posting a 3.48 ERA. His 29.3 percent strikeout rate in the majors is strong, but he's walked too many batters (12.2 percent). Edmundo Sosa was optioned in a corresponding move.
