  • Padres' Adrian Morejon: Officially recalled

Morejon was called up from Double-A Amarillo on Sunday.

Morejon is set to make his major-league debut as the official starter Sunday against the Cubs. However, reports prior to his callup indicate that he'll be used as an opener. It would be surprising to see him work deep into the game, as he has pitched more than two innings only once since mid-April. Cal Quantrill is expected to work as the primary pitcher after Morejon bows out.

Padres' Trey Wingenter: Optioned to Triple-A

Wingenter was optioned to Triple-A El Paso on Sunday.

Wingenter was optioned in a series of moves made by the Padres to make room for Adrian Morejon and Michel Baez. Wingenter had pitched fairly effectively out of the bullpen for the club, posting a 4.26 ERA and 1.13 WHIP with 53 strikeouts across 38 innings.

Padres' Trey Wingenter: To be optioned to Triple-A

Wingenter is expected to be optioned to Triple-A El Paso on Sunday, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

  • Jeff Hoffman RP | MIN

Rockies' Jeff Hoffman: Set for bullpen role

Hoffman will pitch out of the bullpen rather than as a starter in the immediate future, Nick Groke of The Athletic reports.

Hoffman was recalled Sunday after the demotion of Antonio Senzatela; however, he won't immediately slot into the rotation and will instead work as a reliever. Manager Bud Black did leave open the possibility of Hoffman working as a starter in the future. He has made seven appearances with the big-league club this season -- all of which had been as a member of the rotation -- and posted a 6.75 ERA with a 1.56 WHIP across 33.1 innings.

  • Sam Howard RP | DET

Rockies' Sam Howard: Recalled to majors

Howard was called up from Triple-A Albuquerque on Sunday.

Howard was added to the 40-man roster and called up after the team designated Mark Reynolds for assignment. He figures to provide bullpen depth for the club after posting a 3.83 ERA and 1.52 WHIP across 44.2 innings in a relief role for Albuquerque this season.

Rockies' Jeff Hoffman: Recalled from Triple-A

Hoffman was called up from Triple-A Albuquerque on Sunday.

Hoffman figures to immediately slot into the Rockies rotation after the team designated Antonio Senzatela for assignment Sunday. Hoffman has made seven starts with the big-league club this season, posting a 6.75 ERA and 1.56 WHIP with 36 strikeouts across 33.1 innings.

  • Jimmy Nelson RP | LAD

Brewers' Jimmy Nelson: Continuing rehab assignment

Nelson (elbow) has been assigned to Low-A Wisconsin for a rehab assignment and will make an appearance Sunday.

This will mark Nelson's first rehab appearance as he continues to work back from elbow effusion. He has been out since late June and figures to fill a role in the bullpen upon his return.

  • Tyler Webb RP | MIN

Cardinals' Tyler Webb: Recalled to majors

Webb was called up from Triple-A Memphis on Sunday.

Webb was called up in a series of moves by the Cardinals in an effort to bolster the team's bullpen prior to Sunday's contest against the Reds. He's pitched 30.1 innings with the big-league club this season, posting a 4.45 ERA and 1.29 WHIP across 30.1 innings.

  • Dominic Leone RP | CHW

Cardinals' Dominic Leone: Sent to Triple-A

Leone was optioned to Triple-A Memphis on Sunday.

He has given up two runs in 1.1 innings since the All-Star break. Tyler Webb was promoted from Triple-A to take the open spot in the bullpen.

  • Ryan Helsley RP | BAL

Cardinals' Ryan Helsley: Sent back to minors

Helsley was optioned to Triple-A Memphis on Sunday, Rob Rains of StLSportsPage.com reports.

He threw two scoreless innings of relief in Saturday's game, but the Cardinals will opt to churn the last bullpen spot, bringing up Tyler Webb in a corresponding move. We should see Helsley back up in the majors again when the team has a need of a fresh reliever.
