Jackson allowed two runs on two hits without recording an out during the ninth inning in a 5-4 extra-inning victory against the Nationals on Wednesday.

The 27-year-old would sure like to face a different team. In his last three outings against the Nationals, Jackson has allowed seven runs in two innings. On Wednesday, he wasn't charged with a blown save. However, Jackson allowed two hits to the two batters he faced, and then both runners scored against the next relief pitcher, which tied the game. With a couple bullpen additions at the trade deadline, it will be interesting to see if the Braves keep Jackson in the closer role. He has 17 saves with seven blown opportunities, along with a 3.96 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 67 strikeouts in 50 innings this season.

Krehbiel was designated for assignment by the Diamondbacks on Wednesday.

The Diamondbacks needed to free up a roster spot for Mike Leake, who was acquired from the Mariners on Wednesday, and Krehbiel was the roster casualty. He's spent most of the season with Triple-A Reno, struggling to an 8.25 ERA, 1.92 WHIP and 50:41 K:BB in 52.1 innings there.

Ponce de Leon was optioned to Triple-A Memphis on Wednesday.

This move frees up a roster spot for Adalberto Mejia, who was claimed off waivers by the Cardinals on Tuesday. Ponce de Leon recently lost his rotation spot after failing to reach the fifth inning for a third straight outing over the weekend, and the Cardinals opted to send him back to the minors to remain stretch out rather than keep him with the big club in a relief role.

Suarez was recalled from Triple-A Sacramento on Wednesday.

Suarez returns to the Giants following multiple departures from the bullpen via trade. The 26-year-old has allowed 13 runs on 16 hits across 11.2 innings this season and figures to work in long relief.

Hart was designated for assignment Wednesday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

The Brewers had a flurry of moves at the deadline, and removing Hart from the 40-man roster helped clear some roster space. He hasn't been terrible this year (4.10 ERA at Triple-A), but the Brewers clearly didn't think he was a necessary part of the bullpen equation going forward.

Kinley was recalled from Triple-A New Orleans on Wednesday, Andre Fernandez of The Athletic reports.

Kinley will replace Trevor Richards -- who was traded to the Rays on Wednesday -- on the roster and in the bullpen. The 28-year-old right-hander has struck out 28 batters in 24.2 big-league innings this season, though that comes with an unsightly 5.11 ERA and 1.95 WHIP.

Rodriguez was recalled from Triple-A Sacramento on Wednesday.

Rodriguez is scheduled to start Thursday at Philadelphia and will make his way to the majors a day early due to the open roster spots created by trade deadline departures. The 27-year-old has a 4.70 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 34:17 K:BB in nine starts (46 innings) this season.

Underwood was optioned to Triple-A Iowa on Wednesday, Mark Gonzales of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Underwood spent just one day with the Cubs and failed to make an appearance. He was sent back to the minors to free up a roster spot for David Phelps, who was acquired from Toronto on Tuesday in exchange for Thomas Hatch.

Edwards was traded from the Cubs to the Padres on Wednesday in exchange for Brad Wieck, Mark Gonzales of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Edwards has struggled to a 5.87 ERA in 15.1 innings with the Cubs this season, but the Padres are hoping a change of scenery will help the right-hander rediscover the form from his first four years as a big-leaguer (3.06 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 217:87 K:BB in 159 innings). The 27-year-old should report to Triple-A El Paso for now, though he figures to join the big-league bullpen down the stretch.

GM David Stearns said the Brewers see Pomeranz "primarily as a reliever," Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Stearns' comments leave the door open for Pomeranz to start, which he did for the first three and a half months of the season with the Giants; but it appears he will begin his Brewers stint in the bullpen, where he found success with the Giants the last couple weeks. It would not be surprising if Pomeranz is used in high-leverage spots with the Brewers looking for more options in those situations, but fantasy players should not expect him to be in the mix for saves with his new club.
