Andriese (foot) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list prior to Sunday's game against the Dodgers.

He has been on the shelf since July 19 with a bruised foot. Andriese has a 5.91 ERA, 1.53 WHIP and 51 strikeouts in 45.2 innings. Look for him to return to a low-to-mid-leverage role.

Reyes was optioned to Triple-A El Paso on Sunday, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Reyes walked two of the three batters he faced Friday in the series opener, and that was it for his latest big-league stint. The right-hander has bounced between levels for much of the year and could be up and down again before rosters expand in September, if there's a need for a fresh arm in the bullpen.

Edwards was recalled by the Padres on Sunday, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

The hard-throwing righty wore out his welcome in Chicago and was traded at the deadline in exchange for Brad Wieck. Walks have always been an issue for Edwards (career 13.6 percent walk rate), and so far this year, he's really struggled with the long ball. Edwards will get another chance in the majors, replacing Gerardo Reyes on the active roster, but he will likely start near the bottom of the Padres' bullpen pecking order.

Holmes (triceps) was activated from the 10-day injured list Sunday.

Holmes was knocked around for three runs on four hits over two innings in his first rehab appearance with Double-A Altoona on Aug. 5, but he bounced back Thursday, throwing two scoreless innings with three strikeouts. He will slot back into a multi-inning, low-leverage role out of the Pittsburgh bullpen. Parker Markel was optioned to Triple-A Indianapolis in a corresponding move.

Jansen is working on his mechanics but will continue to earn save opportunities, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports.

Manager Dave Roberts indicated that he will continue to turn to Jansen in save situations in spite of the closer's recent struggles. Roberts also revealed that Jansen has been working on his mechanics with pitching coach Rick Honeycutt as the team believes that flaws in his delivery are the primary source of his inconsistency. Jansen has blown two of his last five save opportunities but pitched a scoreless inning in a non-save situation against Arizona on Saturday.

Yates picked up the save against Colorado on Saturday, pitching a scoreless ninth inning and giving up one hit while striking out two batters.

Yates came on to protect a three-run lead and allowed a two-out single but nothing more to earn his first save in eight days. The 32-year-old has been one of the most reliable closers in baseball this season, converting 33 of 36 save opportunities while posting a 1.16 ERA, 0.86 WHIP and 75:9 K:BB in 46.2 innings.

Young (4-2) struck out two and allowed four runs on five hits and three walks over 3.1 innings to take the loss against the Dodgers on Saturday.

It was Young's shortest start of the year, although the blame doesn't all fall on the 25-year-old's shoulders. The Diamondbacks produced just five baserunners in the contest, and only one of them advanced past first base. Over 38 innings this year, Young has a 3.32 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 31:13 K:BB. He'll look to get back on track in Thursday's series opener versus the Giants.

Smith allowed one hit and one walk in a scoreless ninth inning to earn the save in Saturday's 3-1 win over the Phillies.

Smith didn't make things easy on himself as he issued a two-out walk to put the tying run on base, but he was able to strike out Corey Dickerson to close out the contest. The veteran left-hander is 28-for-30 in save opportunities and has a 2.50 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and 72:12 K:BB over 50.1 innings.

Castillo will miss the rest of the 2019 season with a torn tendon in his left middle finger, Dennis Lin of The Athletic reports.

Castillo landed on the injured list Friday with a finger strain, but it appears he suffered a more severe injury. It's incredibly bad luck for the 23-year-old as he sustained the injury Thursday in his season debut after spending the first four-plus months of the year on the injured list. Castillo won't need to undergo surgery but will still miss the remainder of the season.

Kimbrel (knee) is expected to join the Cubs in Philadelphia, though he won't be activated immediately, Jesse Rogers of ESPN.com reports.

Kimbrel is expected to test his injured hamstring in Philadelphia by tossing a bullpen, and a timetable for his return should become more clear shortly after. According to Gordon Wittenmyer of the Chicago Sun-Times, he's unlikely to be activated when first eligible Wednesday.
