The Giants recalled Menez from their alternate training site Thursday.

Menez will be one of six lefties included on the Giants' 16-man Opening Day pitching staff. He'll likely slot into a multi-inning, long-relief role for the Giants after working almost exclusively as a starter during his first four seasons of professional baseball.

The Giants selected Garcia's contract Thursday.

Garcia worked almost exclusively as a starter while climbing through the Rockies' system the past four years, but he'll likely slot into long relief for San Francisco in 2020 after joining the club via waivers back in November.

The Giants optioned Rodriguez to their alternate training site Wednesday.

Manager Gabe Kapler has yet to formally announce a fifth starter, but Rodriguez's demotion likely takes him out of consideration for that role. Rodriguez served as a swingman for the Giants in 2019, starting in 16 of his 28 appearances and going 6-11 with a 5.64 ERA and 1.45 WHIP over 99 innings.

The Giants optioned Suarez to their alternate training site Wednesday.

The expanded 30-man Opening Day roster didn't provide enough space for Suarez to win a spot as a depth starter or long reliever, but his presence on the 40-man roster could give him a leg up over others in the 60-man player pool if the big club requires another pitcher at some point. Suarez appeared in 21 games (two starts) for the Giants in 2019, logging a 5.79 ERA and 1.62 WHIP in 32.2 innings.

Harvey didn't make the Rockies' 30-man Opening Day roster, but he's included on the three-man taxi squad that will travel with the team for the first series at the Rangers.

After being designated for assignment during the offseason, Harvey fell just short of making the major-league roster to begin the regular season. However, he should be one of the top options to fill a bullpen role if there's an emergency need. The right-hander posted a 5.00 ERA and 1.72 WHIP over 18 innings with the Yankees and Rockies last season.

General manager Matt Klentak said Dominguez (elbow) has yet to undergo Tommy John surgery, Meghan Montemurro of The Athletic reports.

Klentak didn't mention what was causing the delay, but he added that Dominguez is preparing for the procedure. Following the surgery, Dominguez will likely be sidelined for 12-plus months.

The Nationals recalled Finnegan from Double-A Harrisburg on Thursday.

Finnegan will be part of the Nationals' expanded 30-man Opening Day roster after he was previously demoted to the minors in March, at which time teams were only allowed to carry 26 men into the opener. Though he'll benefit from the extra roster flexibility, Finnegan likely won't see much use in key spots out of the bullpen right away, given that he has yet to make his MLB debut. The 28-year-old posted a 2.31 ERA and 72:19 K:BB across 50.2 innings between stops at Triple-A Las Vegas and Double-A Midland while he was a member of the Athletics organization in 2019.

Matzek was added to the Braves' 30-man roster Thursday.

Matzek was competing for a job in the bullpen during spring training and summer camp, and he was rewarded with a spot on the 30-man roster to begin the season. The 29-year-old last appeared in the majors with the Rockies in 2015, but he posted a 7.20 ERA and 21:10 K:BB over 15 innings in the minors last season. Matzek should pitch mainly in lower-leverage situations this year.

Voth was named the Nationals' fifth starter Thursday, Jesse Dougherty of The Washington Post reports.

Voth was competing for a spot in the rotation during camp, and manager Dave Martinez said Thursday that Voth will "definitely" begin the season as the fifth starter, with Erick Fedde coming out of the bullpen. Voth made nine appearances (eight starts) with the Nationals last season, posting a 3.30 ERA and 1.05 WHIP over 43.2 innings.

Gallegos (not injury related) is not on the Opening Day roster, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

He will open the year on the 10-day injured list as he was late to arrive at camp and has been slow to build up. Kwang-Hyun Kim is expected to open the year as the closer, but Ryan Helsley also lingers as a healthy late-inning option.
