Estevez (1-2) failed to record an out while allowing one run on two hits in Monday's 1-0 loss to the Padres.

Estevez gave up a leadoff single to Greg Garcia, who was replaced by pinch runner Jorge Mateo. A Jurickson Profar walkoff double was enough for the lone run of the contest, which gave Estevez the loss. He's now given up 10 runs over 3.2 innings across his last five appearances. The poor performances have taken Estevez out of the closer conversation -- Daniel Bard appears to have a firm grasp on that role for now. Through 19.2 innings, Estevez has a 6.41 ERA, 1.58 WHIP and 20 strikeouts to go with six holds and a save.

Pomeranz (1-0) pitched a scoreless inning, allowing one hit and striking out one to earn the win Monday versus the Rockies.

Pomeranz kept the game scoreless in the top of the ninth, and he became the winning pitcher with Jurickson Profar's walkoff double in the bottom half of the frame. Through 14 appearances, Pomeranz has four saves, six holds and has yet to allow a run in 13 innings. He's most recently been used as the setup man to trade-deadline acquisition Trevor Rosenthal.

Lamet allowed six hits and struck out 11 over 7.2 scoreless innings in a no-decision versus the Rockies on Monday.

Lamet was dealing Monday, but a lack of run support denied him a chance for his third win. He also recorded double-digit strikeouts for the second time in nine starts this year. Lamet has a 2.24 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and 68:15 K:BB across 52.1 innings this season. The right-hander's next start is expected to be Saturday versus the Giants.

Neris allowed one hit and one run (none earned) but recorded the save Monday against the Mets.

Brandon Workman pitched in the ninth inning in a tied game, opening up the save opportunity for Neris in the 10th. Neris allowed the runner starting on second base to score on a single, but otherwise held the Mets in check to earn his third save. Workman has emerged as the team's primary closer since being acquired at the trade deadline, but Neris may still see occasional save chances.

Coonrod allowed a solo home run but earned the four-out save in Monday's win over Arizona.

Coonrod yielded a leadoff homer to David Peralta in the ninth inning but quickly recorded the next three outs to finish off the save. Despite converting his only two save opportunities this season, the 27-year-old year still owns an unsightly 8.10 ERA over 10 innings.

Hudson struck out the only batter he faced to record his eighth save of the season in Monday's 6-1 win over the Rays.

After Will Harris loaded the bases with two outs in the ninth inning, Hudson came in with the tying run on deck and needed only four pitches to fan Randy Arozarena and end the threat. The veteran right-hander's ERA is a bloated 6.14, but Hudson's 20:5 K:BB through 14.2 innings -- not to mention last year's postseason success -- have kept him in the closer job for the Nats.

Pagan (biceps) will face hitters Tuesday, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Manager Jayce Tingler said of Pagan, "He feels a lot better after being back here and getting some treatment, getting some work and doing exercises." Assuming Pagan has no setbacks after facing hitters, he is expected to be activated from the injured list when first eligible Thursday.

Patino was optioned to the Padres' alternate training site Monday.

Patino has been inconsistent while pitching mainly in low-leverage situations for the Padres this season, and he'll attempt to work things out at alternate camp. In his first major-league action this year, the right-hander posted a 5.52 ERA and 1.77 WHIP over 14.2 innings.

Cabrera retired four hitters -- all via strikeout -- while yielding one hit in his relief appearance Sunday in the Cardinals' 7-3 win over the Cubs.

Cabrera also recorded two outs during an appearance in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader, so his usage on back-to-back days seemingly implies that he's moved past the cracked fingernail he developed coming out of an Aug. 29 outing. The 23-year-old lefty made two starts with the big club in 2019 and was a member of the Triple-A Memphis rotation last season, but the Cardinals don't seem prepared to remove him from the bullpen anytime soon, even though the club will have a need for some extra starters over the next couple weeks with a slew of doubleheaders on tap.

The Cubs optioned Miller to their alternate training site Sunday.

Miller served as the Cubs' primary pitcher behind starter Colin Rea in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Cardinals, pitching three innings of one-run ball. Since Miller tossed 34 pitches in the outing and was unlikely to be available for at least the next couple of days, the Cubs opted him to swap him out for a fresh arm in Matt Dermody, whose contract was selected from the alternate site in a corresponding move.
