Alzolay was recalled by the Cubs on Monday.

Alzolay spent a week and a half at the Cubs' alternate training site, but he'll rejoin the major-league bullpen after Ildemaro Vargas (hamstring) was placed on the injured list Monday. The right-hander should be available out of the bullpen Monday and could provide a relief option Tuesday as starter Jose Quintana (lat) could be on a pitch count.

Wilson was recalled by Atlanta on Monday.

Wilson will rejoin the major-league pitching staff after Cole Hamels (shoulder) was placed on the injured list Monday. The right-hander has solely appeared out of the bullpen, but his past work as a starter could make him a strong candidate to start in Hamels' place Tuesday.

Gallegos (groin) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list Monday, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

Gallegos will return to action after missing the minimum 10 days with a groin injury. He should resume a prominent role in the Cardinals' bullpen, although it's unclear whether he'll serve as the closer as Andrew Miller has been receiving save chances in recent games. Gallegos has converted on all four of his save opportunities this season while posting a 3.97 ERA and 0.79 WHIP over 11.1 innings in 2020.

Pagan was tagged with a blown save in Sunday's win over Seattle. He pitched one inning and allowed two runs on two hits while striking out two.

Pagan's ERA sat at 7.36 after blowing a save Aug. 20, but he had subsequently recovered to notch seven straight scoreless outings covering seven innings. That streak ended Sunday, however, when Dylan Moore launched a two-run homer off Pagan in the eighth inning. The Padres ultimately pulled out an extra-inning victory, but Pagan nonetheless was tagged with his fifth blown save of the season.

Medina was optioned to the Phillies' alternate training site Monday.

Medina made his major-league debut Sunday and was charged with a loss against the Blue Jays. It's unclear whether he could make another appearance on the active roster prior to the end of the regular season, but the 23-year-old displayed some promise in his first outing in the majors.

Manager Dave Martinez said Monday that Rainey (forearm) is "probably" finished for the regular season, Jesse Dougherty of The Washington Post reports.

Rainey was placed on the 10-day injured list Sept. 15, and he should remain sidelined for the rest of the regular season. The right-hander pitched well during the abbreviated 2020 season prior to his injury as he recorded a 2.66 ERA and 0.74 WHIP over 20.1 innings.

The Pirates claimed Fulmer off waivers from the Orioles on Monday.

It's been quite a busy year for Fulmer, who failed to make the White Sox's Opening Day roster and has since passed through the Tigers', Pirates' and Orioles' organizations before winding up back in Pittsburgh. The fact that he's been let go by those three teams is a pretty good indicator of where his value stands at the moment. His 6.34 ERA in 105.0 career big-league innings explains why he's a fringe option at best, though he does have a respectable 4.35 ERA and an 11:5 K:BB in 10.1 frames this year.

Gallegos (groin) is expected to be activated from the 10-day injured list Monday, Mark Saxon of The Athletic reports.

Gallegos is set to return after missing the minimum 10 days with a groin injury. He should be a decent option in the final week of the season for players looking for another save or two, though it's not guaranteed he gets any. He does lead the Cardinals in that category, though he has just four of the team's 11 saves. Andrew Miller ranks second with three and could get the nod if a run of lefties comes up in the ninth inning.

Medina (0-1) allowed two runs on three hits and three walks over four innings Sunday, striking out four and taking the loss against Toronto.

Despite being handed a loss in his MLB debut, Medina showed some flashes of promise. After allowing two runs in the first inning, he loaded the bases with one out in the second but escaped unscathed before cruising through two perfect innings to end his outing. If he gets another turn in the rotation before the season ends, expect Medina to face the Rays on the road next weekend.

Bard was credited with the hold in Sunday's win over the Dodgers, allowing two runs on two hits and two walks across one inning. He struck out one.

Bard entered to get the final out of the eighth before running into trouble in the ninth. A hit batter, two singles and a walk ultimately led to the right-hander being replaced by Mychal Givens with two outs. Despite the shaky outing, Bard seems likely to remain Colorado's primary closer during the final week of the regular season.
