  • Marlins' Elieser Hernandez: Tosses 30-pitch session

Hernandez (biceps) completed a 30-pitch bullpen session Tuesday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

The Marlins were apparently pleased with how Hernandez fared in the side session, so he'll take the next step forward in his recovery by facing hitters in a live batting practice session Saturday. After that, Hernandez will likely need to pitch in at least one simulated game or minor-league rehab game before the Marlins bring him back from the injured list. Fantasy managers who have been holding Hernandez since he picked up the injury should prepare for him to miss two more weeks.

  • Cardinals' Giovanny Gallegos: Grabs fifth hold

Gallegos recorded his fifth hold in a win over the Mets on Monday, firing a perfect eighth inning during which he recorded a strikeout.

Gallegos extended his scoreless appearance streak to six games with Monday's 16-pitch outing, lowering his ERA to 2.16 in the process. The right-hander figures to see continued higher-leverage opportunities behind current closer Alex Reyes, especially with Jordan Hicks battling both inconsistency and forearm tightness.

  • Cardinals' Genesis Cabrera: Collects fifth hold

Cabrera notched his fifth hold in a win over the Mets on Monday, issuing two walks and recording a strikeout over a scoreless inning.

Cabrera had some issues with location, as his final line implies, with only nine of his 22 pitches getting into the strike zone. The left-hander hadn't issued a walk since April 19 -- a span of five appearances -- prior to Monday's pair of free passes. Cabrera has allowed an earned run in two of his last four trips to the mound, but he still has a solid 3.29 ERA and 1.10 WHP across his first 13.2 innings of 2021.

  • Jordan Hicks RP | CHW

Cardinals' Jordan Hicks: Moved to IL

The Cardinals placed Hicks (elbow) on the 10-day injured list Tuesday, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

St. Louis is officially classifying Hicks' injury as "right elbow inflammation," which suggests that the MRI he underwent Monday didn't reveal a strain or any structural damage to his forearm. Hicks is eligible to come off the IL on May 12, but he'll likely need to receive clearance to resume throwing within the next few days in order to return to the active roster in the minimum amount of time.

  • Dodgers' Brusdar Graterol: Undergoing MRI

Graterol (forearm) underwent an MRI on Tuesday, the results of which have yet to be released, Jorge Castillo of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Graterol was brought along slowly to start the season and didn't make his MLB debut until mid-April. He allowed three runs in 1.1 innings across three innings before landing on the injured list with forearm tightness. His expected return date should become clearer once the results of his MRI have been made public.

  • Conner Menez RP | CHC

Giants' Conner Menez: Joins San Francisco for twin bill

The Giants recalled Menez from Triple-A Sacramento ahead of Tuesday's doubleheader with the Rockies.

The lefty will be available for both ends of the twin bill as a long-relief option. He could be called upon to eat innings if either of the Giants' projected starters for Tuesday -- Aaron Sanchez and Alex Wood -- are knocked out of the game early.

  • Chris Martin RP | TEX

Braves' Chris Martin: Rehab assignment coming soon

Martin (shoulder) is expected to have a brief rehab assignment with Triple-A Gwinnett before returning to the major-league roster, Will Sammon of The Athletic reports.

It remains to be seen exactly when Martin's rehab outing will come and exactly when he'll be back on the active roster, but it appears as though he's closing in on a return. The righty was expected to be in the high-leverage mix this season but made just two appearances before being shut down with shoulder inflammation, which has now kept him sidelined for a full month.

  • Cubs' Keegan Thompson: Summoned for spot start

The Cubs have recalled Thompson from Triple-A Iowa to start the second game of the Tuesday's doubleheader with the Dodgers, Gordon Wittenmyer of NBC Sports Chicago reports.

Thompson will be making his first big-league start in the second half of the twin bill, stepping into the rotation as a replacement for Jake Arrieta, who was placed on the 10-day injured list with a right thumb abrasion. After the doubleheader, the Cubs' upcoming schedule will allow the team to get by with a four-man rotation until at least May 18, so Thompson will most likely be returned to Iowa following his start. Thompson made his MLB debut over the weekend, covering an inning of relief in Sunday's loss to Cincinnati. With that in mind, he'll likely have a limited pitch count in Tuesday's start.

  • Alex Reyes RP | LAD

Cardinals' Alex Reyes: Racks up eighth save

Reyes walked two in a scoreless ninth inning Monday to record his eighth save of the season in a 6-5 win over the Mets.

The right-hander threw only eight of his 20 pitches for strikes in a nervous outing, but he was able to escape the jam he created. Reyes has yet to give up a run or blow a save through 14 appearances this season, but his 15:12 K:BB in 14.1 innings makes his position as closer perhaps a little more tenuous than his surface stats would indicate.

  • Mark Melancon RP | ARI

Padres' Mark Melancon: League-leading 10th save

Melancon tossed one inning and allowed one hit to close out Monday's 2-0 win over the Pirates.

The veteran made quick work of one of his former teams, dispatching Pittsburgh in just 12 pitches. He's been one of the best relievers in baseball through the early going, only surrendering one run in 14 innings.
