  • Edwin Uceta RP | TB

Dodgers' Edwin Uceta: Out with back strain

Uceta was placed on the 10-day injured list Tuesday with a right back strain.

Uceta was promoted from Triple-A Saturday and immediately delivered a scoreless inning with two strikeouts against the Diamondbacks, but he's now sidelined by the back injury. Brusdar Graterol was recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City in a corresponding move.

  • Dodgers' Brusdar Graterol: Back in majors

Graterol was recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Tuesday.

The 22-year-old was demoted over the weekend but will quickly rejoin the Dodgers with Edwin Uceta (back) landing on the injured list. Graterol has 10 big-league appearances in 2021 with six runs allowed on nine hits and a 6:3 K:BB over nine innings.

  • Anthony Banda RP | MIN

Pirates' Anthony Banda: Activation coming Wednesday

Manager Derek Shelton said that Banda is expected to be activated Wednesday, Mike Persak of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Banda was claimed off waivers from the Mets on Monday, and with the southpaw out of minor-league options, he must be added to the big-league roster if Pittsburgh intends to keep him under control. Banda will join the Pirates' bullpen having posted a 7.36 ERA and 2.05 WHIP across 7.1 major-league innings this season.

  • Phillies' Seranthony Dominguez: Begins rehab assignment

Dominguez began a rehab assignment at High-A Jersey Shore on Tuesday, striking out two across a perfect first inning, Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Dominguez has been working his way back from Tommy John surgery for just over a year, and Tuesday's outing marked his first official game action since spring training of 2020. The right-hander will likely spend several weeks ramping up in the minors, and assuming he doesn't suffer any setbacks, he should have a strong chance of rejoining the Phillies' bullpen in late August or early September.

  • Tejay Antone RP | CIN

Reds' Tejay Antone: Behind other injured teammates

Antone (forearm) is not yet ready for a rehab assignment; instead, he's still throwing bullpens before the Reds play their big-league games, Bobby Nightengale of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

While it looks as if Lucas Sims might be close to returning, Antone probably won't be back before the end of the month. "I don't expect Tejay to be back with us in the same time frame as the other guys that are there now," manager David Bell said. "He does have to go do a rehab assignment, get some outings in, and I would expect that he would be back - if everything goes well - with our team by the end of the month."

  • Lucas Sims RP | CHW

Reds' Lucas Sims: Throwing before Tuesday's game

Sims (elbow) was playing catch at Great American Ballpark before Tuesday's game against the Twins after making a couple of appearances on a rehab assignment, Bobby Nightengale of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports. Sims has made three appearances at Triple-A Louisville, throwing three scoreless innings and striking out three while allowing three hits and three walks.

Reds manager David Bell was vague about a potential return date for Sims as well as teammates Nick Senzel and Mike Moustakas. "They're all progressing well, which is the most important thing," Bell said. "But no timetable. I think it's important to keep it that way, and we'll come in one of these days and they'll either be here or on their way. But still kind of on track to get at least a couple of those guys back within the next week, for sure." If you want to read the tea leaves, Moustakas and Senzel remained with Louisville as they began a road trip, whereas Sims stayed close by, perhaps suggesting an earlier return.

  • Tyler Gilbert RP | CHW

Diamondbacks' Tyler Gilbert: Gets first call to majors

Gilbert's contract was selected from Triple-A Reno on Tuesday.

He logged a 3.44 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 50:19 K:BB in 52.1 innings working mostly as a starter at Triple-A, but it's possible he will just be deployed as a long reliever during his first big-league stint. The 27-year-old southpaw spent the first five seasons of his career pitching in the minors as part of the Phillies' organization before latching on with Arizona this year.

  • John Axford RP | MIL

Brewers' John Axford: Lands on IL with elbow injury

Axford was placed on the 10-day injured list Tuesday with an elbow injury, Sophia Minnaert of Bally Sports Wisconsin reports.

The team is not prepared to share a more specific injury designation, as more testing is required. Angel Perdomo was recalled to take Axford's place in the bullpen.

  • Angel Perdomo RP | LAA

Brewers' Angel Perdomo: Recalled from Triple-A

Perdomo was recalled from Triple-A Nashville prior to Tuesday's game against the Pirates, Sophia Minnaert of Bally Sports Wisconsin reports.

John Axford is headed to the injured list, so Perdomo will take his place in a low-leverage relief role. He has given up 11 earned runs (four home runs) in 15.1 MLB innings this season.

  • Matt Strahm RP | KC

Padres' Matt Strahm: Activated from IL

Stram (knee) was reinstated from the 60-day injured list Tuesday.

Strahm dominated during three rehab appearances, striking out seven while allowing one earned run on two hits and zero walks over 3.2 innings. He will assume a middle-relief role for San Diego down the stretch.
