  • Blake Treinen RP | LAD

Dodgers' Blake Treinen: Wins with multi-inning effort

Treinen (3-5) won Monday's 2-1 victory over Pittsburgh, recording two strikeouts in 1.1 innings.

Treinen entered with two outs and the bases loaded in the seventh and induced a Colin Moran groundout on just one pitch to neutralize the threat. He then stayed in for the eighth and fell in line for the win once Los Angeles took the lead in the bottom of the inning. The victory was the reliever's first since late June, and he's yet to permit a run in seven August innings.

  • Ryan Weathers SP | NYY

Padres' Ryan Weathers: Allows five runs in no-decision

Weathers yielded five runs on eight hits over four innings in Monday's loss to the Rockies. He struck out three and did not factor in the decision.

Weathers got off to a rough start, coughing up a leadoff blast to Connor Joe. The rest of the damage against him came during a four-run fourth inning, including a two-run homer by Charlie Blackmon. It was his fourth consecutive outing allowing at least five runs but he managed to avoid taking a fourth straight loss. Weathers' ERA shot up to 5.06 with a 59:26 K:BB through 78.1 innings this season. He's currently lined up to face the Phillies at home this weekend.

  • Matt Strahm RP | KC

    Padres' Matt Strahm: Starting Tuesday

Strahm will start Tuesday's game against the Rockies.

Strahm has made five appearances since he was reinstated from the injured list in early August, and he's recorded an 8.44 ERA and 2.25 WHIP in 5.1 innings. The southpaw will make his first start since 2019 during Tuesday's contest and likely won't be kept in the contest for more than a few innings. He'll likely return to a relief role following the start.

  • Daniel Bard RP | COL

Rockies' Daniel Bard: Earns win after blown save

Bard (6-5) allowed three runs on three hits over one inning Monday, striking out one and earning a win over the Padres.

Bard allowed a pair of singles to start the ninth inning and, after retiring the next two batters, served up a game-tying, three-run blast to Trent Grisham. He had converted his last four save opportunities but fell to 19-for-26 after Monday's mishap. On the bright side, he was granted the win after C.J. Cron walked it off in the bottom of the ninth. Bard's ERA is up to 4.53 alongside a 61:21 K:BB through 47.2 innings.

  • Michael Rucker RP | SEA

Cubs' Michael Rucker: Allows six runs Monday

Rucker allowed six runs on four hits across two innings of relief in Monday's loss to the Reds. He walked two and struck out four.

The four strikeouts are about the only silver lining for Rucker, who was otherwise hit hard by Cincinnati in a 14-5 romp for the Reds. The 27-year-old has struggled with a 9.26 ERA across 11.2 innings of work since getting the call to the majors at the end of July, and he's only a low-leverage option for the Cubs at this point.

  • Edwin Uceta RP | TB

Dodgers' Edwin Uceta: Optioned to Triple-A

Uceta was optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Monday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Uceta returned from the injured list Wednesday and allowed a hit and a walk while striking out five in 2.2 scoreless innings across two relief appearances since then. The right-hander has recorded a 6.64 ERA and 1.52 WHIP in 20.1 innings across 14 appearances (one start) in the majors this year.

  • Geoff Hartlieb RP | ATH

Mets' Geoff Hartlieb: Sent back down

Hartlieb was optioned to Triple-A Syracuse on Monday, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

Hartlieb tossed two relief innings in Sunday's series finale against the Dodgers and allowed three runs on three hits and two walks while striking out three. He'll head back to the minors after Trevor Williams was recalled Monday.

  • Andre Jackson RP | PIT

Dodgers' Andre Jackson: Recalled by Dodgers

Jackson was recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Monday, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.

While Justin Bruihl will serve as the opener in Monday's bullpen game against Pittsburgh, Jackson will make his major-league debut as a long reliever. The 25-year-old has made 17 appearances (14 starts) in the minors this year, and he posted a 3.28 ERA and 1.02 WHIP in 71.1 innings.

  • Adbert Alzolay RP | NYM

    Cubs' Adbert Alzolay: Plays catch

Alzolay (hamstring) played catch Monday, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Alzolay exited his previous start Friday against the Marlins with a left hamstring strain. His expected return date remains unclear, but the fact that he's throwing again in some capacity just three days later certainly appears to be a good sign.

  • Daniel Hudson RP | LAD

Padres' Daniel Hudson: Secures first hold as Padre

Hudson earned a hold against Arizona on Sunday, pitching a scoreless inning during which he gave up one hit and struck out one batter.

The Padres won the contest 8-2 but held only a two-run lead when Hudson entered in the seventh inning. The right-hander gave up a Josh Rojas double but otherwise kept the Diamondbacks in check. Since a rough debut for San Diego on Aug. 11, Hudson has turned things around with two scoreless innings in which he has struck out three batters.
