Padres' Dinelson Lamet: Tosses scoreless rehab inning

Lamet (hip/forearm) pitched a scoreless and hitless inning for Low-A Lake Elsinore on Tuesday, hitting a batter while also recording a strikeout.

The right-hander hit the first batter he faced in the brief appearance but recovered to retire the next three hitters. This was his first game action since Aug. 4, as he has been working his way back from a hip infection. Lamet is on track for an early-September return to the big club, at which point he'll join the team's bullpen.

Reds' Tejay Antone: Elbow issue surfaces

Manager David Bell said Antone was removed from Tuesday's loss to the Brewers after the right-hander "felt something" in his elbow, Bobby Nightengale of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Antone missed the past two months with a strained forearm and was activated from the injured list earlier Tuesday, only to be lifted after five pitches with the elbow issue. The specifics of the injury remain unclear, but it wouldn't be surprising to see him return to the injured list given he's dealing with another arm problem.

Reds' Tejay Antone: Suffers injury in return

Antone was removed from Tuesday's game at Milwaukee with an apparent right arm injury, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.

The right-hander was activated from the injured list earlier in the day after missing nearly two months with an forearm strain, and he exited Tuesday's contest after visibly wincing on only his fifth pitch. The specifics of the issue remain unclear, but it's a tough break for Antone in his first game back from an extended absence.

  • Sam Long RP | KC

Giants' Sammy Long: Scoreless outing against Mets

Long (2-1) allowed three hits and one walk while striking out four across 5.1 innings to earn the win Tuesday against the Mets.

Long turned in his longest outing since June 20 after being given a few weeks to ramp up at Triple-A Sacramento. Filling the rotation spot of Anthony DeSclafani (ankle), Long pounded the strike zone for 19 called strikes and was the beneficiary of strong run support. Despite the effective outing, Long may not have the chance for another turn through the rotation as DeSclafani, Johnny Cueto (elbow) and Kevin Gausman (illness) are all expected to return imminently.

  • Adbert Alzolay RP | NYM

Cubs' Adbert Alzolay: Making rehab start Wednesday

Alzolay (hamstring) is scheduled to make a rehab start with Triple-A Iowa on Wednesday, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Alzolay is set to throw about three innings in his first rehab outing, and he'll be evaluated afterward to make sure there's no soreness in his hamstring. The right-hander has been on the shelf since Aug. 14 with a hamstring strain, and he'll likely need at least one more rehab start after Wednesday's before rejoining the big-league rotation.

  • Dinelson Lamet RP | LAD

Padres' Dinelson Lamet: Begins rehab assignment

Lamet (forearm/hip) is slated to begin a rehab assignment with Low-A Lake Elsinore on Tuesday, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Lamet hasn't pitched in a big-league game since late June because of right forearm inflammation. He appeared close to being activated after making a rehab outing in early August, but a hip infection ultimately postponed his return. He's since resumed throwing off a mound, and he could join the Padres' bullpen within the next couple of weeks if he's able to successfully get a few minor-league outings under his belt.

  • Yennsy Diaz RP | NYM

Mets' Yennsy Diaz: Sent to Triple-A

Diaz was optioned to Triple-A Syracuse on Tuesday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Diaz's latest stint in the majors lasted just four days. He didn't get into a single game during that time. The move clears a space for the Mets to add recent waiver claim Heath Hembree.

  • Phillies' Enyel De Los Santos: Sent to Triple-A

De Los Santos was optioned to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Tuesday.

De Los Santos had been with the team for most of August, allowing one run in 6.1 innings while striking out 10 and walking two in his latest stint with the team. The strong showing was only enough to bring his season ERA and WHIP down to 5.24 and 1.61, respectively. The move clears space for Freddy Galvis to return from his quadriceps injury.

  • Sam Coonrod RP | NYM

Phillies' Sam Coonrod: Back from injury

Coonrod (forearm) was activated off the 60-day injured list Tuesday.

Forearm tendinitis had kept Coonrod on the shelf since late June, but he's ready to go now after bouncing back from a late-July setback and tossing three scoreless innings on a rehab assignment. He was serviceable for the Phillies prior to the injury but wasn't a shutdown arm, recording a 4.18 ERA and 1.29 WHIP in 28 innings. He found his way to two saves early in the year but won't be a top high-leverage option down the stretch with Ian Kennedy now entrenched in the closer role. Jorge Bonifacio was designated for assignment to clear space on the active and 40-man rosters.

  • Tejay Antone RP | CIN

Reds' Tejay Antone: Activated as expected

The Reds reinstated Antone (forearm) from the 10-day injured list Tuesday.

Antone returns after a right forearm strain sidelined him for nearly two months. Injuries have limited the righty to 22 appearances this season, but he's posted a 1.87 ERA and 0.86 WHIP in 33.2 innings, and he figures to be thrown right into high-leverage relief situations now that he's healthy. Sean Doolittle was designated for assignment.
