Dylan Floro RP | ARI
Marlins' Dylan Floro: Notches eighth save
Floro earned the save against the Phillies on Saturday with a scoreless inning of relief during which he allowed one hit and struck out one batter.
After Miami tallied three eighth-inning runs to take the lead, Floro was handed the ball and asked to shut down Philadelphia in the ninth. He allowed a leadoff single but retired the following three batters to finish off the victory. The right-handed hurler appears to have secured the primary closer role for the Marlins, converting each of his past four save chances. Floro has allowed only one run over 5.1 innings during that span while racking up a 5:2 K:BB.

Jay Jackson RP | MIN
Giants' Jay Jackson: Struggles as opener
Jackson (2-1) lost Saturday's 6-1 defeat at the hands of the Dodgers, allowing three runs on one hit and two walks with one strikeout in one-third of an inning.
Making his first career start, Jackson surrendered a leadoff homer and two walks while recording only one out before being removed. Both walks eventually came around to score and the 33-year-old eventually took the loss after San Francisco was unable to recover from the 3-0 deficit. While Jackson was never going to pitch deep into Saturday's game, manager Gabe Kapler expected more than one out and the righty most likely won't be utilized as an opener moving forward following the poor outing.

Scott Effross RP | DET
Cubs' Scott Effross: Earns first win
Effross allowed a hit and struck out one in a scoreless inning to earn the win Saturday versus Pittsburgh.
The 27-year-old was called upon for the ninth inning with the Cubs trailing by two, but he ended up with his first big-league win when they walked it off in the bottom of the frame. After allowing two runs in two-thirds of an inning in his debut Aug. 29 versus the White Sox, Effross has delivered three scoreless innings in his last two appearances. He's still likely to see mainly low-leverage work.

Duane Underwood RP | NYY
Pirates' Duane Underwood: Managing shoulder injury
Underwood exited Saturday's loss to the Cubs with right shoulder discomfort, Alex Stumpf of DKPittsburghSports.com reports.
Underwood allowed a solo home run in the fifth inning and returned to the mound in the sixth, but he was removed from the game after issuing a walk. He'll presumably be evaluated in the coming days to determine the extent of his shoulder injury.

Ryan Weathers SP | NYY
Padres' Ryan Weathers: Moves to bullpen
Weathers made his most recent appearance out of the bullpen, striking out one over a scoreless inning in Wednesday's 8-3 loss to the Diamondbacks.
Weathers was dropped from the rotation in advance of Jake Arrieta's return from the 10-day injured list Friday to take over the No. 5 starter role. After a promising start to the season, Weathers faltered badly in his final six turns through the rotation, giving up 31 total earned runs in 20.2 innings.

Hoby Milner RP | CHC
Brewers' Hoby Milner: Sent down
Milner was optioned to Triple-A Nashville on Saturday.
Milner tried to stop the bleeding Friday after the first four pitchers to take the ball for Milwaukee combined to give up 13 runs, but Milner just made things worse, surrendering two runs of his own in one-third of an inning. The lefty could return to the Brewers' bullpen later in the season, though he could just as easily be DFA'd.

Justin Topa RP | MIN
Brewers' Justin Topa: Dealing with 'significant' injury
Topa was placed on the 60-day injured list Saturday with a right elbow injury.
Manager Craig Counsell called the injury that forced Topa from Friday's game "significant," per Adam McCalvy of MLB.com, and noted that it's Topa's flexor tendon, which was also a problem in spring training. The Brewers are trying to determine the extent of the UCL damage. Topa has shown tremendous resilience, battling back from two Tommy John surgeries and time in independent ball, but a third TJS recovery would be a daunting hill to climb.

Matt Moore RP | BOS
Phillies' Matt Moore: Moving to bullpen
Moore will be available out of the bullpen Saturday, with the Phillies expected to go with bullpen days in what had been his spot in the rotation, Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Moore has been ineffective for most of the season, struggling to a 6.49 ERA and 1.63 WHIP across 13 starts and eight relief appearances. The expanded September rosters mean the Phillies won't need to use him to eat innings, though he could still be used in a multi-inning relief role during those bullpen games.

Andrew Vasquez RP | DET
Dodgers' Andrew Vasquez: Blows save in Dodgers debut
Vasquez was tagged with a blown save against San Francisco on Friday, pitching two-thirds of an inning and allowing an unearned run on one hit while striking out one.
The left-hander was inserted in a difficult spot in his debut with Los Angeles, as he was asked to protect a one-run 11th-inning lead in the battle for first place in the NL West. Vasquez gave up a single that allowed the inherited runner at second base to score but recovered to retire the next two batters -- including notching a clutch whiff of Mike Yastrzemski with a runner on third base and one out -- before he was removed from the contest. Vasquez doesn't figure to see many situations as stressful as Friday's since he's likely to be used mostly in a low-leverage role while up in the majors.

Jay Jackson RP | MIN
Giants' Jay Jackson: Heading up bullpen game
Jackson will start Saturday's game against the Dodgers, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
This will mark the journeyman's first time taking the ball to start a big-league game. It will not be a traditional start, however; Jackson has not thrown more than two innings in an appearance this season. Sammy Long is a candidate to work multiple innings out of the bullpen behind Jackson.
