  • Cubs' Keegan Thompson: Lands on IL

Thompson was placed on the 10-day injured list with right shoulder inflammation, retroactive to Sept. 3.

Thompson has been knocked around lately to the tune of nine earned runs in his last 7.2 innings. It's not entirely clear how serious this injury is, but Thompson will be eligible to return as soon as Sept. 14 with the backdated stint. Adbert Alzolay is a logical candidate to step into the rotation next week.

  • Austin Voth RP | MIN

Nationals' Austin Voth: Stuck with first loss

Voth (3-1) took the loss Friday as the Nationals fell 6-2 to the Mets, coughing up four runs (three earned) on three hits and two walks in the 10th inning. He struck out two.

The right-hander gave up an RBI single to the first batter he faced in the 10th, scoring Francisco Lindor as the phantom runner, and things spiraled out of control from there for Voth. It's the fourth time in his last eight appearances he's been tagged for multiple runs, and on the season the 29-year-old carries a 4.88 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 48:21 K:BB through 48 innings.

  • Sean Nolin RP | MIA

Nationals' Sean Nolin: Solid in no-decision

Nolin didn't factor into the decision in Friday's 6-2 extra-inning loss to the Mets, giving up two runs on five hits and a walk over five innings. He struck out three.

Facing the Mets for the third time in four starts since joining the Nats' rotation, Nolin didn't have much trouble navigating through the New York lineup despite the familiarity. The journeyman southpaw tossed 63 of 102 pitches for strikes but was in line for his third loss of the year until the Washington offense finally showed a flicker of life against Edwin Diaz in the ninth inning. Nolin has managed a palatable 3.48 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 9:1 K:BB through 10.1 innings over his last two outings, and the organization has no better options for his rotation spot.

  • Edwin Diaz RP | LAD

Mets' Edwin Diaz: Blows fifth save but collects win

Diaz (5-4) picked up the win in Friday's 6-2 extra-inning victory over the Nationals, giving up two runs on two hits and a walk in the ninth inning. He struck out two.

The Mets' closer was called upon to protect a 2-0 lead but instead blew his fifth save of the season, serving up a leadoff blast to Juan Soto before walking Ryan Zimmerman with one out and getting tagged for an RBI double by Riley Adams. Fortunately for Diaz, the Mets immediately responded with four runs in the top of the 10th. The blown save was his first since July 19 and left him 28-for-33 in converting save chances on the year, to go along with a 3.62 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 79:20 K:BB through 54.2 innings.

  • Rockies' Carlos Estevez: Secures save Friday

Estevez earned the save against Atlanta with a perfect ninth inning Friday.

Estevez made very quick work of the three batters he faced, needing only four pitches to retire the side in order. He hasn't allowed an earned run in 14 straight outings dating back to July 31, registering six holds and two saves over that span. Given Daniel Bard's recent struggles, Estevez could be given all or most of the team's save opportunities for the remainder of the campaign.

  • Evan Phillips RP | LAD

    Dodgers' Evan Phillips: Tough-luck loser

Phillips (1-1) took the loss in Friday's 3-2 defeat at the hands of the Giants, allowing an unearned run on two walks with two strikeouts in one inning.

Phillips was the final of 11 Los Angeles pitchers in Friday's extra-innings game, recording the last out of the 10th to send the game another inning. He walked two batters in the 11th and appeared to escape a bases-loaded, one-out jam, but second baseman Trea Turner botched a routine throw that resulted in Phillips' earning the loss. This was only Phillips' second appearance with the team due to an IL stint and he appears to be a backend bullpen guy judging by his use as the final pitcher in a long game Friday.

  • Jarlin Garcia RP | PIT

Giants' Jarlin Garcia: Collects relief win

Garcia (6-3) won Friday's 3-2 triumph over the Dodgers, allowing one hit with two strikeouts in one inning.

After allowing the leadoff batter to reach, Garcia was able to navigate a no-out runners-on-the-corners situation to keep Los Angeles off the board. He became the winner when San Francisco walked it off in the bottom of the inning and now has four wins dating back to the start of August. In that stretch, Garcia has permitted just three runs in 17.1 innings for dazzling 1.58 ERA.

  • Emilio Pagan RP | CIN

Padres' Emilio Pagan: Saddled with loss

Pagan (4-1) lost Friday's 6-3 game at the hands of the Astros, allowing two runs on two hits in one inning.

Manager Jayce Tingler selected Pagan to pitch the eighth inning of a 3-3 tie and the 30-year-old rolled to two easy outs before surrendering a hit and Kyle Tucker home run to fall in line for the loss. It's the righty's first loss all season and he still owns an above average 3.58 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 64:14 K:BB in 55.1 innings.

  • Taylor Clarke RP | ARI

Diamondbacks' Taylor Clarke: Takes another loss in extras

Clarke (1-2) allowed one run (zero earned) on one hit and one walk while striking out two across one inning, taking the loss to the Mariners on Friday.

Clarke entered the top of the 10th inning in a tied game, but the runner on second base scored on a single by Jarred Kelenic to give Seattle the lead. It was the second time in Clarke's last three appearances that he took the loss without giving up any earned runs. The 28-year-old has a 4.36 ERA and 1.45 WHIP with 39 strikeouts in 43.1 innings this season.

  • Daniel Norris RP | CLE

Brewers' Daniel Norris: Dealing with cut on throwing hand

Norris is dealing with a cut on his throwing hand following Friday's loss to the Cardinals, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Norris apparently dealt with a similar issue earlier in the season but hasn't been forced to spend time on the injured list. The Brewers will likely monitor his status in the near future but is currently considered day-to-day.
