Collin McHugh RP | ATL
Braves' Collin McHugh: Stuck with loss Friday
McHugh (0-1) took the loss Friday as Atlanta fell 6-3 to the Brewers, giving up two runs on one hit and one walk in one-third of an inning.
The veteran right-hander took over for rookie Spencer Strider to begin the sixth inning in a 2-2 tie and quickly made a bit of a mess, and while the loss ended up going on McHugh's ledger, it was Tyler Matzek who allowed both inherited runners to score. McHugh has a sharp 16:3 K:BB through 10.1 innings over 10 appearances this season, and while his 6.10 ERA and 1.55 WHIP are rough, his 2.10 FIP indicates he deserves a better fate.

Josh Hader RP | HOU
Brewers' Josh Hader: Notches 11th save
Hader struck out one in a perfect ninth inning Friday to record his 11th save of the season in a 6-3 win over Atlanta.
A brief bout of back spasms couldn't derail Hader, as he fired 15 of 19 pitches for strikes in his first appearance since April 27. The southpaw has yet to give up a run or blow a save so far this year, and batters have managed only two hits off Hader in 10.1 innings.

Steven Wilson RP | TB
Padres' Steven Wilson: Notches first save
Wilson saved Friday's 3-2 win against the Marlins, allowing one hit and one walk in the ninth inning.
With Taylor Rogers unavailable, manager Bob Melvin turned to the rookie Wilson for the save and the 27-year-old delivered despite some traffic on the bases. He let the first two batters reach base in the ninth inning but proceeded to retire the next three to secure the victory. In 12 games, Wilson has recorded 15 strikeouts compared to five walks in 12 innings with a 3.00 ERA.

Mark Melancon RP | ARI
Diamondbacks' Mark Melancon: One-out save
Melancon got the final out of Friday's 4-1 win against the Rockies, allowing one walk.
Melancon relieved starter Merrill Kelly with two out in the ninth and the tying run at the plate. He walked Sam Hilliard but induced a Jose Iglesias groundout to secure his fifth save. Though Melancon's allowed just one run through 8.1 innings, he's struck out only three batters and owns a high 1.32 WHIP.

Joan Adon SP | WAS
Nationals' Joan Adon: Drops third straight
Adon (1-5) allowed three runs on three hits and five walks over five innings Friday, striking out six and taking a loss against the Angels.
After an RBI groundout from Shohei Ohtani in the first inning, Adon turned in three scoreless frames. He then coughed up a two-run double to Mike Trout in the fifth. Both his six punchouts and five walks were the highest he's posted in a start this season. Adon will carry a 6.99 ERA into his projected home outing against the Mets next week.

Mauricio Llovera RP | SEA
Giants' Mauricio Llovera: Optioned to Triple-A
Llovera was optioned to Triple-A Sacramento on Friday, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.
He will likely be back up in short order after giving up one run on three hits and zero walks while striking out five over four innings -- all in the past calendar week. Sean Hjelle will take a spot in the big-league bullpen.

Sam Long RP | KC
Giants' Sam Long: Sent to Triple-A
Long was optioned to Triple-A Sacramento on Friday, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.
He had a 3.48 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and eight strikeouts in 10.1 innings through nine appearances. Sean Hjelle was promoted to take a spot in the big-league bullpen.

Sean Hjelle RP | SF
Giants' Sean Hjelle: Joins big-league bullpen
Hjelle was recalled from Triple-A Sacramento prior to Friday's game against the Cardinals, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.
He will be available out of the bullpen Friday. The Giants felt it was a good spot for his potential debut with the Cardinals' lineup being so righty-heavy. Hjelle, who turns 25 on Saturday, is one of the tallest pitchers to ever potentially pitch in the majors at 6-foot-11. He had a 4.37 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 14 strikeouts in 22.2 innings through five starts at Triple-A.

Corbin Martin RP | CHC
Diamondbacks' Corbin Martin: Optioned to Triple-A
Martin was optioned to Triple-A Reno on Friday.
He had a 4.40 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 14:6 K:BB in 14.1 innings working as a long reliever with the big club. Marin will presumably stay relatively stretched out at Triple-A.

Mark Melancon RP | ARI
Diamondbacks' Mark Melancon: Activated before Friday's game
Melancon (undisclosed) was activated from the injured list prior to Friday's game against the Rockies.
Ian Kennedy notched three saves in three appearances over the last six days, so Melancon could have some competition for saves going forward, although he is still the presumed top closing option at this point.
