  • Dodgers' Dellin Betances: Debuts at Triple-A

Betances (shoulder) has struck out one and allowed an unearned run on one hit and no walks over two innings in his first two appearances for Triple-A Oklahoma City since being activated Tuesday.

After signing a minor-league deal with the Dodgers in early April, Betances spent about two months ramping up at the organization's extended spring training facility before making his debut June 7 in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League. He made four rehab appearances in the ACL before ultimately moving on to Triple-A, where he'll look to prove he still has something left in the tank as he makes his return from shoulder surgery. A four-time All-Star, Betances has made only 17 big-league appearances since the start of the 2019 season while enduring multiple arm-related injuries.

  • Phillies' Andrew Bellatti: Collects first big-league save

Bellatti pitched a perfect ninth inning with one strikeout to earn the save in Sunday's 8-5 win over the Padres.

Interim manager Rob Thomson didn't want to turn to his top relievers, Seranthony Dominguez and Brad Hand, due to heavy usage lately, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports. Bellatti was called upon instead, and he was able to lock down his first major-league save with 14 pitches (nine strikes). In June, Bellatti has allowed three runs (two earned) in 7.1 innings, and he owns a reasonable 3.42 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 35:10 K:BB across 23.2 innings overall. He's added four holds and a 1-2 record, but Sunday's save doesn't necessarily signal his entrance into the Phillies' closer committee just yet.

  • Tanner Scott RP | LAD

Marlins' Tanner Scott: Earns win Sunday

Scott (3-2) allowed no hits and a walk while striking out two in a scoreless ninth inning to earn the win over the Mets on Sunday.

The southpaw has served as the Marlins' primary closer while Anthony Bender (back) has been sidelined, but Scott was called upon to preserve a tie game in the top of the ninth inning Sunday. He succeeded and was rewarded with his third win of the season after Miami hit a walkoff homer in the bottom of the ninth. The 27-year-old has tossed four scoreless innings over his last four appearances, and he's earned a win and two saves during that time. Although Bender converted six of eight save chances prior to his absence, Scott should still be firmly in the mix for high-leverage work once Bender returns to action.

  • Daniel Castano RP | MIA

Marlins' Daniel Castano: Records quality start against Mets

Castano allowed two runs on five hits and two walks while striking out four in seven innings during Sunday's win over the Mets. He didn't factor into the decision.

Castano lasted just 3.2 innings during Tuesday's start against the Rockies, but he had his longest outing of the season Sunday while posting his second quality start in his last three appearances. The southpaw hasn't struck out many batters in the majors this year but has posted a 3.18 ERA in 17 innings over three starts since rejoining the Marlins. He projects to make his next start on the road against Washington on Saturday.

  • Pirates' Duane Underwood: Ready for rehab assignment

Underwood (illness) will report to Triple-A Indianapolis on Monday to begin a rehab assignment, Alex Stumpf of DKPittsburghSports.com reports.

Underwood has been on the COVID-19-related injured list since testing positive for the virus June 13 and may require multiple rehab appearances before the Pirates activate him. Prior to landing on the IL, the reliever turned in a 4.24 ERA and 1.29 WHIP across 17 innings out of the bullpen.

  • J.B. Bukauskas RP | MIL

Diamondbacks' J.B. Bukauskas: Begins rehab assignment

Bukauskas (shoulder/hamstring) struck out a batter in a perfect inning Saturday in his first rehab appearance for the Diamondbacks' rookie-level Arizona Complex League affiliate.

Bukauskas has been on the 60-day injured list all season due to a Grade 2 shoulder strain, an injury he sustained in the spring. He had his timeline pushed back earlier in June after experiencing hamstring tightness, but he appears to have moved past that injury and has now resumed ramping back up from the shoulder injury. He'll likely make at least one more rehab appearance in the ACL before potentially moving up to a higher-level affiliate.

  • Tyler Matzek RP | NYY

Braves' Tyler Matzek: Rehab start begins Monday

Matzek (shoulder) will begin a rehab assignment Monday at Single-A Augusta, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.

Matzek has been cleared for game action after he tossed a live batting practice session Saturday without issue. The 31-year-old has been sidelined since mid-May with shoulder inflammation and will likely need at least two rehab appearances before Atlanta brings him back from the 15-day injured list.

  • Alexis Diaz RP | TEX

Reds' Alexis Diaz: Could be activated Friday

Diaz (biceps) could be ready to return from the 15-day injured list Friday when first eligible to be activated, Bobby Nightengale of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Diaz was scheduled to throw off a mound Sunday in San Francisco for the first time since landing on the IL on June 19. Assuming Diaz comes out of the side session feeling no worse for the wear, he'll throw again Wednesday in what could be his final test before he returns from the IL. Though Diaz was part of the Reds' muddled closing mix prior to landing on the shelf, he could have to settle for a setup role upon his return after manager David Bell suggested Sunday that Hunter Strickland could get a long look in the ninth-inning role.

  • Blake Treinen RP | LAD

Dodgers' Blake Treinen: Weeks away from mound work

Manager Dave Roberts said Sunday that Treinen (shoulder) is "weeks away" from resuming mound work, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Treinen was cleared to play catch in early June, and he's ramped up intensity while continuing to throw off flat ground over the last several weeks. In spite of his recent progress in his recovery, the right-hander isn't close to throwing off a mound. Treinen is unlikely to have a better idea of his timetable to return to game action until he clears several more hurdles in his recovery process.

  • Caleb Ferguson RP | CIN

Dodgers' Caleb Ferguson: Throws live BP

Ferguson (forearm) threw live batting practice Sunday, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Ferguson has spent just under a week on the injured list due to left forearm tendinitis, and it was encouraging to see him face live hitters Sunday. He'll throw another live BP on Wednesday, and manager Dave Roberts hopes the southpaw will be able to rejoin the Dodgers during their series against the Padres next weekend.
