  • Jarlin Garcia RP | PIT

Pirates' Jarlin Garcia: Becomes a Pirate

Garcia signed a one-year deal with the Pirates on Tuesday, Alex Stumpf of DKPittsburghSports.com reports.

Garcia will make $2.5 million in 2023, with Pittsburgh holding a club option for $3.25 million for 2024, per Rob Biertempfel of The Athletic. The lefty was designated for assignment by the Giants in November, but that came after a solid season in which he posted a 3.74 ERA. He's unlikely to add significantly to his career total of two saves this season, but he should still be a serviceable member of the Pittsburgh bullpen.

  • Miguel Castro RP | CHW

Diamondbacks' Miguel Castro: Signs with Diamondbacks

Castro signed a one-year, $3.5 million contract with the Diamondbacks on Friday, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.

Castro will head to Arizona after spending the 2022 campaign with the Yankees, producing a 4.03 ERA and 1.45 WHIP with 31 strikeouts over 29 innings in 34 appearances out of the bullpen. The 27-year-old right-hander will likely operate in a middle-relief role for Arizona. The Diamondbacks have a club option on the contract for 2024 worth an additional $3.5 million.

  • Shelby Miller RP | CHC

Dodgers' Shelby Miller: Signs with Dodgers

Miller signed a major-league deal with the Dodgers on Tuesday, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.

Miller spent most of last season in Triple-A, where he racked up a 3.04 ERA and 1.13 WHIP through 53.1 frames. The 32-year-old reliever is coming off his best season in the majors since 2017, but his less-than-stellar 8.92 ERA and 1.95 WHIP between 2018-22 sets a low bar. It's unclear what role Miller will play in the Dodgers' bullpen in 2023.

  • Giants' Mauricio Llovera: Re-ups with Giants

Llovera (elbow) re-signed with the Giants on a minor-league deal Nov. 19.

One day after being non-tendered by the Giants, Llovera quickly re-upped with the organization on a new deal. Though he won't reclaim a spot on the Giants' 40-man roster, his minor-league pact will presumably allow him to compete for a spot in the big club's Opening Day bullpen during spring training. Before finishing the season on the injured list with a Grade 2 right flexor strain, Llovera posted a 4.41 ERA and 1.35 WHIP in 16.1 innings with San Francisco.

  • Denyi Reyes RP | NYM

Mets' Denyi Reyes: Signs with Mets

Reyes signed a minor-league contract with the Mets on Wednesday.

Reyes will be invited to spring training as a non-roster invitee in 2023 as part of his agreement with the Mets. He made his major-league debut with the Orioles in 2022 and posted a 2.35 ERA and 1.17 WHIP in 7.2 innings over three appearances (one start).

  • Elvis Peguero RP | CHW

Brewers' Elvis Peguero: Shipped to Milwaukee

Peguero was traded from the Angels to the Brewers on Tuesday along with Janson Junk and Adam Seminaris in exchange for Hunter Renfroe.

Peguero has appeared in 16 games for the Angels over the past two seasons but has struggled in his first taste of the majors with 13 earned runs allowed across 17.1 innings. The 25-year-old pitched well at Triple-A last year with a 2.84 ERA and will now attempt to find his footing in a new organization.

  • Daniel Duarte RP | NYM

Reds' Daniel Duarte: Returns to Reds on minors deal

Duarte agreed to a minor-league contract with the Reds on Friday, Bobby Nightengale of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

The Reds non-tendered Duarte earlier in the day, but evidently there were no hard feelings. It wasn't immediately clear whether the deal includes an invitation to spring training, but it seems likely that Duarte will be with the big-league squad, at least to start camp.

  • Dauri Moreta RP | PIT

Pirates' Dauri Moreta: Shipped to Pittsburgh

The Reds traded Moreta to the Pirates on Friday in exchange for infielder Kevin Newman.

Moreta was on the shuttle between Triple-A and the majors throughout last season, making 35 appearances for the big-league team (one start) and another 28 for Louisville. The 26-year-old right-hander averaged 96 mph with his fastball in the majors last season and can pull the string with the slider and changeup around 85-88 mph.

  • Javy Guerra RP | ATL

Brewers' Javy Guerra: Dealt to Milwaukee

The Rays traded Guerra to the Brewers on Friday in exchange for a player to be named later, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

While the Rays didn't see Guerra as worthy of a 40-man roster spot, the Brewers will welcome the 27-year-old righty (not to be confused with the 37-year-old, 11-year MLB veteran of the same name). Milwaukee will be hoping he can refine his command and control a bit.

  • Kevin Herget RP | NYM

Reds' Kevin Herget: Joins Reds on NRI deal

Herget agreed to a minor-league contract with the Reds on Friday that includes an invitation to spring training, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.

The right-hander will be in camp with Cincinnati as a non-roster invitee. Herget, 31, pitched in independent ball in 2021 and 2022 before the Rays brought him. He leaned on his changeup more than any other pitch during him brief time with Tampa Bay last season.
