Martinez (elbow) completed a second live batting practice Wednesday, MLB.com reports.

Arizona manager Torey Lovullo said Friday that the next steps for Martinez will be a bullpen session followed by a bridge game at the team's training facility. The former closer is on a path to return later in August, although he could be pushed out until September when rosters expand. Martinez is not expected to resume his role as closer when he does return, as Paul Sewald has been effective in that role all season.

Atlanta recalled Thomas from Triple-A Gwinnett on Saturday.

Thomas gave up four earned runs in 3.2 innings during his lone MLB outing July 7 against the Pirates, but he sports a 1.98 ERA in 27.1 frames at Gwinnett and will now get another chance in the big club's bullpen, replacing Elieser Hernandez.

Atlanta designated Hernandez for assignment Saturday.

Hernandez pitched three scoreless innings and earned the win over Baltimore after being selected to the active roster before Friday's contest, but he'll now lose his place in the bullpen and on the 40-man roster. Connor Thomas will come up from Triple-A Gwinnett to give Atlanta a fresh arm.

Pagan struck out two in a perfect inning to earn the save in Friday's 4-2 win over the Cardinals.

Pagan has earned three saves over the last four days and has 10 saves on the season. He's allowed a modest two runs -- both in non-save situations -- over 6.1 innings since he returned from a hamstring injury at the end of June. He has a 5.31 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 21:8 K:BB through 20.1 innings and looks to have a fairly firm grasp on the closer role at this time.

Zuber (0-1) recorded the loss Friday against the Padres, allowing two runs on two hits while striking out two in two-thirds of an inning.

Zuber entered with the game tied at two in the eighth inning before allowing the eventual game-winning two-run homer to Luis Rengifo. Zuber allowed his first earned run since July 1 and his fourth homer. On the campaign, the 31-year-old now owns a 5.65 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 17:3 K:BB in 14.1 innings.

Miller picked up the save Friday against the Marlins, striking out one batter over a perfect inning.

Miller continued his unbelievable 2026 campaign, inducing groundouts from Joe Mack and Otto Lopez before striking out Kyle Stowers to end the game. The closer now possesses a 0.84 ERA, 0.84 WHIP and 79:15 K:BB in 42.2 innings this season. Miller is tied with Riley O'Brien and Bryan Baker with 26 saves, which is good for second-best in MLB.

Morejon (8-2) earned the win over Miami on Friday, pitching a scoreless 1.1 innings while walking one and striking out two.

Morejon entered in the seventh with the Marlins threatening with two runners in scoring position and two outs. The 27-year-old struck out Xavier Edwards to strand a pair on the bases and get San Diego out of the jam, posting his third straight scoreless appearance along the way. The Padres went on to score two unanswered runs and lined Morejon up for the win. On the season, the left-hander has posted a 3.25 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 63:14 K:BB in 55.1 innings.

Manaea did not factor into the decision in Friday's 4-2 loss to the Dodgers, allowing one run on six hits and two walks with three strikeouts over six innings.

Manaea kept the vaunted Dodgers lineup in check aside from a run on a sacrifice fly in the fourth inning, throwing 61 of 84 pitches for strikes with seven whiffs. The southpaw has now posted quality starts in two of his past three turns and owns a 3.97 ERA with a 20:6 K:BB across four July outings. He owns a 4.52 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 84:28 K:BB across 85.2 innings this season and lines up for a home matchup with Atlanta next week.

Scott earned the save in Friday's 4-2 win over the Mets, striking out one in a perfect ninth inning.

Scott was summoned to protect a two-run lead in the ninth inning and retired the heart of the Mets' order to close the door. The southpaw has converted five of six save chances in July, holding opponents scoreless in seven of eight appearances this month. He owns a 2.34 ERA, 0.76 WHIP and 54:5 K:BB across 42.1 innings this season to go along with six holds and 16 saves, though his time in the closer role is likely nearing its end with Edwin Diaz's (elbow) return looming.

Sewald picked up the save in Friday's 3-2 win over the Nationals, striking out one batter across a scoreless ninth inning.

Sewald blew his save chance in his last outing Tuesday against the Athletics. He was much better Friday, needing just nine pitches (seven strikes) to secure the win for Arizona and collect his 24th save of the season, which is tied with Jhoan Duran for fifth-most in the majors. Sewald has a 4.58 ERA and 0.94 WHIP across 37.1 innings this season.
