Bednar issued one walk in a scoreless inning Sunday, striking out two and earning a save against Arizona.

Bednar coughed up two unearned runs in a loss Saturday but immediately bounced back with a solid outing Sunday. He's converted 13 straight save chances since his lone blown save May 11. Bednar lowered his season ERA to 1.27 with a stellar 42:6 K:BB through 35.1 frames.

Alzolay pitched a perfect ninth inning to record the save in Sunday's 7-4 win over the Yankees.

Alzolay made quick work of the Yankees on seven pitches, giving him his seventh save of the season in eight chances. The righty has excelled in a relief role this year after working as a starter earlier in his career. Alzolay now has a 2.29 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and 43 strikeouts across 39.1 innings. He should continue to serve as Chicago's closer after the upcoming All-Star break.

Romero (1-0) walked one and struck out three over two scoreless and hitless innings to earn the extra-inning win over the White Sox on Sunday.

Romero was charged with three runs (two earned) in one inning in his previous appearance, but he was sharper Sunday. He pitched the ninth inning and stayed in for the 10th after the Cardinals gained the lead. Romero has a 3.65 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 11:7 K:BB through 12.1 major-league innings this season.

Williams struck out two in a perfect inning to earn the save in Sunday's 1-0 win over the Reds.

Williams concludes the first half of the campaign 20-for-22 in save chances while keeping runs off the board in 31 of his 34 appearances. The closer was named an All-Star but won't pitch in Seattle on Tuesday. He's maintained a 1.89 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 45:18 K:BB through 33.1 innings this season in his first full year as closer.

Almonte (personal) was reinstated from the paternity list Sunday, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.

Almonte has a streak of nine straight scoreless appearances going into the All-Star break. He has a 1.04 WHIP and 12 strikeouts in 8.2 innings over that span.

Hudson was optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Sunday, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.

Yency Almonte was reinstated from the paternity list, so Hudson will return to the minors. Hudson has given up four earned runs in 3.2 innings through two big-league appearances this season.

Kinley (elbow) is expected to move his rehab assignment from the rookie-level Arizona Complex League to High-A Spokane by the end of the upcoming week, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.

Kinley, who has been on the shelf all season while recovering from June 2022 flexor tendon surgery, rebounded nicely after giving up six earned runs while recording one out in his first rehab outing in the ACL on Tuesday. After two days of rest, Kinley returned to the hill Friday and delivered a scoreless inning. The right-hander will be re-examined in Denver this coming Thursday, and if all goes well, he'll head to Spokane. Kinley will likely make at least a couple appearances with Spokane before advancing to Triple-A Albuquerque, and then eventually rejoining the Colorado bullpen.

Reyes cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Syracuse on Sunday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Reyes was designated for assignment by the Mets on Tuesday but will stick around the organization. He's allowed fived earned runs over 7.1 major-league innings this year and has a 6.97 ERA across 41.1 frames with Syracuse.

The Diamondbacks recalled Vargas from Triple-A Reno on Sunday.

The hard-throwing right-hander will provide Arizona with a fresh arm in the bullpen for Sunday's series finale with the Pirates after Tyler Gilbert (personal) -- who covered three innings in relief in Saturday's 3-2 win -- was placed on the paternity list in a corresponding move. Vargas has previously made five appearances for Arizona this season, giving up three earned runs on five hits and four walks while striking out seven over 4.2 innings.

The Diamondbacks placed Gilbert on the paternity list Sunday.

Just one day after getting called up Triple-A Reno and tossing three innings of one-run ball out of the bullpen in a 3-2 win over the Pirates, Gilbert will leave the team in anticipation of the birth of his child. Gilbert should be ready to rejoin the Diamondbacks coming out of the All-Star break, but it's unclear if Arizona plans to keep him on hand as a bullpen option or potential No. 5 starter.
