  • White Sox's Jordan Leasure: Picks up fifth save

Leasure retired all four batters faced to earn the save in Monday's 6-5 win at Minnesota. He struck out two.

The Chicago reliever required only 14 pitches to notch his first four-out save of the season. With Leasure, Grant Taylor, Mike Vasil, and Steven Wilson all collecting saves in August for the White Sox, the team is in a full blown closer-by-committee situation. Through 52 total frames, Leasure has pitched to a 4.15 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and impressive 11.8 K/9, which should keep him in the mix for occasional save opportunities going forward.

  • White Sox's Tyler Alexander: Collects win in bullpen game

Alexander (5-13) picked up the win in Monday's game against Minnesota, allowing one run on two hits and no walks with one strikeout.

The 31-year-old southpaw was credited with the victory after the White Sox scored two runs in the eighth to take the lead. Alexander didn't have his sharpest outing himself, yielding a run on a Brooks Lee single in the seventh. The Chicago lefty continues to pitch in long relief and is not worthy of fantasy consideration due to a 4.85 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 74:28 K:BB across 89 total frames.

  • Drew Sommers P | DET

Tigers' Drew Sommers: Takes first career loss

Sommers (0-1) allowed three runs on two hits across an inning of relief to take the loss in Monday's game against the Mets. He struck out one.

With Detroit starter Charlie Morton only lasting 3.2 innings, Sommers came on in the middle of the contest and struggled against a potent New York lineup. The key hit against the rookie lefty was a two-RBI triple by Juan Soto, who then came around to score on a Brandon Nimmo single. Sommers has now allowed at least one run in three of his first four MLB appearances, and he's sitting with an ugly 18.00 ERA.

  • Chris Martin RP | TEX

Rangers' Chris Martin: Reinstated from injured list

The Rangers activated Martin (calf) from the 15-day injured list Monday.

Martin has missed most of the second half with a left calf strain but has been cleared to return after tossing a scoreless inning in a rehab appearance with Double-A Frisco over the weekend. The 39-year-old will re-enter the late-inning mix for the Rangers, potentially even seeing some save chances in September.

  • Red Sox's Aroldis Chapman: Secures 28th save

Chapman collected the save in Monday's 6-4 victory over the Guardians, pitching a clean inning with one strikeout.

The flamethrowing southpaw required only five pitches to pocket his 363rd career save. Chapman has notched 16 consecutive scoreless appearances over which he's fired 12.2 hitless frames with a 16:4 K:BB and 11 saves. The 37-year-old has reentered the discussion as one of the elite fantasy closers this season thanks to his 1.00 ERA, 0.65 WHIP and 77:14 K:BB across 54 total innings.

  • Tigers' Sawyer Gipson-Long: Drawing start Tuesday

Gipson-Long will be recalled from Triple-A Toledo to start Tuesday's game against the Mets in Detroit, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

Gipson-Long holds a 4.32 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 20:4 K:BB in 25 innings covering two starts and four relief appearances for the Tigers this season. He hasn't reached the five-inning mark in an appearance since late June, so the right-hander could be in line for a relatively abbreviated outing Tuesday. Gipson-Long seems likely to be shifted to long relief after Tuesday's spot start, if he isn't optioned back to Triple-A.

  • Kevin Kelly RP | TB

Rays' Kevin Kelly: Rejoins MLB bullpen

The Rays recalled Kelly from Triple-A Durham on Monday.

Kelly holds an unsightly 5.93 ERA and 1.57 WHIP through 27.1 innings with the Rays this season. He'll give the club another relief arm for the final month of the campaign.

  • Albert Suarez RP | BAL

Orioles' Albert Suarez: Returns from 60-day IL

The Orioles activated Suarez (shoulder) from the 60-day injured list Monday.

Suarez hasn't pitched in the big leagues since suffering a shoulder strain in his first appearance of the season back on March 28. He made five rehab appearances, registering a 3.55 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 5:6 K:BB across 12.2 innings of work. Now healthy again, Suarez is expected to work as a long-relief option for Baltimore.

  • Sauryn Lao SP | WAS

Mariners' Sauryn Lao: DFA'd by Seattle

The Mariners designated Lao for assignment Monday.

Lao was booted from the 40-man roster in order to make room for right-hander Luke Jackson, whose contract was selected from Triple-A Tacoma. The 26-year-old Lao appeared in two games out of the bullpen for Seattle this season, registering an 8.10 ERA, 2.10 WHIP and 4:1 K:BB across 3.1 innings.

  • Tigers' Sawyer Gipson-Long: Set for call-up Tuesday

The Tigers are expected to recall Gipson-Long from Triple-A Toledo ahead of Tuesday's game against the Mets, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.

With the active roster expanding from 26 to 28 men Monday, Detroit recalled right-hander Chase Lee and outfielder Justyn-Henry Malloy from Triple-A to fill the two openings, but the Tigers will make another move Tuesday to facilitate Gipson-Long's call-up. The Tigers don't have a starter listed for Tuesday, so Gipson-Long appears likely to begin that game on the mound or serve as a bulk reliever. The right-hander has previously made six appearances (two starts) for the Tigers this season, logging a 4.32 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 20:4 K:BB in 25 innings.
