Covey was optioned to Triple-A Charlotte following Game 2 of Tuesday's doubleheader at Detroit.

Covey was recalled from Triple-A on Saturday and pitched in long relief during Tuesday's nightcap, allowing three runs on six hits over 2.2 innings. The 27-year-old has a 6.88 ERA, 1.61 WHIP and 35:23 K:BB through 52.1 major-league innings this season.

Santiago (1-1) allowed five runs (four earned) on seven hits and two walks while striking out five across 4.2 innings to take the loss in the second game of a doubleheader Tuesday against the Tigers.

Santiago was called up to start the second game of the team's doubleheader but failed to provide quality innings. He was charged with at least one earned run in three of the five innings he pitched, though he did not allow a home run. According to James Fegan of The Athletic, manager Rick Renteria said the team hasn't decided on Santiago's role going forward, but it looks like he'll be returning to the bullpen.

Junis (7-10) allowed one earned run on seven hits and a walk while striking out four across six innings to earn the win Tuesday against the Red Sox.

While Junis allowed seven hits, six went for only one base, helping him surrender only one earned run. He proved effective in getting ahead of Red Sox hitters, beginning 17 of the 26 batters he faced with a strike. It was a bounce-back performance for him, as he had allowed 10 earned runs in 13 innings across his last two starts. For the season, Junis has a 4.88 ERA and 1.40 WHIP with 130 strikeouts across 138.1 innings. He'll look to build on this effort in his next outing, currently scheduled for Sunday at Detroit.

Thornton surrendered six runs on eight hits and one walk over 3.2 innings during Tuesday's game at Tampa Bay. He had two strikeouts and did not factor in the decision.

Thornton carried a 6-0 lead into the fourth inning but proceeded to give up three two-run home runs to blow the lead and end his outing. The 25-year-old has a 5.55 ERA, 1.53 WHIP and 104:46 K:BB through 108.2 innings and lines up to face the Yankees on Sunday.

Norris (3-9) allowed four runs on seven hits over 5.2 innings to take the loss in Game 1 of Tuesday's doubleheader against the White Sox. He walked two and struck out three.

Norris pitched clean third and fourth innings, but he didn't fare as well on either end of that, allowing single runs in the first, second, fifth and sixth frames. Home runs by Jose Abreu and Welington Castillo accounted for half of the damage, and the lefty has now allowed 20 long balls in 117.1 innings this season. Norris will take a middling 4.76 ERA and 1.41 WHIP into his next outing, which is scheduled for Sunday against the Royals.

Jurado won't make his scheduled start Tuesday at Cleveland since the game was postponed due to rain.

The contest will be made up via a traditional doubleheader Wednesday, and Jurado will take the mound for the matinee. Lance Lynn will start Game 2.

Giles is not yet cleared to pitch in back-to-back games, Hazel Mae of Sportsnet reports.

Giles got back on the mound Sunday after missing a brief period with elbow inflammation, an injury which played a large part in him staying put at the deadline. He wasn't available Monday for that reason but will be available for Tuesday's contest.

Castro (illness) is available for Tuesday's game against the Yankees, Joe Trezza of MLB.com reports.

Castro has been battling an illness in recent days and hasn't pitched in a week. He was considered questionable for Monday's contest but did not end up being available.

Lopez is the leading candidate to make a spot start or two while Danny Duffy (hamstring) remains on the injured list, Joel Goldberg of Fox Sports Kansas City reports.

Duffy strained his hamstring while running Monday and is expected to miss one or two starts. Even with the starting opportunities, Lopez doesn't appear to be a particularly interesting fantasy option, as he's recorded a 6.19 ERA and 1.52 WHIP this season.

Pressly (knee) is on track to return from the 10-day injured list Friday in Baltimore, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

He will have a rehab outing Tuesday with Double-A Corpus Christi, and the plan is for that to be his lone rehab appearance before getting activated this weekend. Pressly ranks in the top-15 among qualified relievers in ERA (2.03), WHIP (0.86) and K-BB% (27.7). Roberto Osuna went through a seven-game stretch from July 12 through July 24 where he gave up a run in five of seven appearances (6.75 ERA over that stretch), but he has since logged back-to-back scoreless appearances and has converted three straight save opportunities.
