Pearson (groin) has begun to build back up after being diagnosed with a sports hernia but will do so as a reliever, Mitch Bannon of SI.com reports.

Pearson received plenty of hype heading into last season but has thus far failed to establish himself thanks to a long list of injuries. He appears to be finally turning a corner with his last issue, however, with the Blue Jays expressing relief that he wasn't diagnosed with anything worse. He's on track to throw live batting practice next week. Pearson won't have time to build up to a starter's workload by the end of the year, but he certainly has the stuff to help the team in a relief role. Of course, that'll limit his fantasy utility outside of leagues that count holds.

The Twins optioned Jax to Triple-A St. Paul on Tuesday.

Jax was called up from Triple-A to start the first game of Monday's doubleheader with the White Sox and acquitted himself well in the 3-2 victory. He didn't factor into the decision, but Jax limited the White Sox to one run on one hit and one walk while striking out six over four innings before departing when he developed a blister. The finger abrasion shouldn't cost him any time, but he won't stick around in Minnesota since the Twins won't need a sixth starter for the foreseeable future.

Lowther landed on the injured list at Triple-A Norfolk with a left shoulder strain Tuesday, Nathan Ruiz of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Lowther owns a 10.80 ERA in 8.1 innings at the big-league level this season and a 6.93 mark over seven Triple-A starts. He hasn't done much to earn another major-league opportunity and will now be out of the picture for some time until his shoulder heals.

Saucedo allowed one run on two hits in two innings of relief during Monday's loss to the Red Sox. He struck out three.

The rookie southpaw got taken deep for the first time in the majors, serving up a solo shot to Enrique Hernandez in the sixth inning. Saucedo has been an effective member of the Jays' bullpen since his promotion in mid-June, posting a 1.80 ERA, 0.80 WHIP and 11:3 K:BB through 10 innings, but his low-leverage role has resulted in zero wins, saves or holds through 11 appearances.

Trivino allowed a run on one hit and one walk while striking out a batter over two innings Monday as he picked up his 15th save of the year in a 4-1 win over the Angels.

Trivino came in and tossed a perfect eighth inning after starter Cole Irvin began the frame by allowing a single to Adam Eaton. The 29-year-old right-hander ran into a bit of trouble in the ninth, allowing a one-out RBI double to rookie Brandon Marsh, but he closed out the rest of the inning without any further issues. Trivino has converted each of his last eight save chances, and he owns a 1.96 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 41:22 K:BB over 46 innings.

Yarbrough (6-4) took the loss Monday as the Rays dropped a 6-1 decision to the Orioles, coughing up six runs on eight hits and two walks over 5.2 innings. He struck out five.

Baltimore didn't hit the southpaw particularly hard, as a first-inning double by Ryan Mountcastle was the only extra-base hit Yarbrough gave up, but given how little run support he got, he had no margin for error. Yarbrough has lasted six innings only once in his last five outings, and he carries a 4.59 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 84:19 K:BB through 102 frames on the season.

Stanek allowed one run on one hit and two walks while striking out two over the eighth inning in Monday's 4-3 win over Cleveland.

Stanek was called upon to shepherd a two-run lead to closer Ryan Pressly, but he ran into trouble by walking two batters. After allowing a run on a single, he was able to strike out Bradley Zimmer on five pitches to record his 12th hold of the season. Other than a five-run kerfuffle against the Orioles on June 29, Stanek has been a trusted late-inning source out of the bullpen for Houston since mid-June. He entered Monday's contest having held the opposition scoreless in 12 of his last 13 appearances.

Mejia (1-5) allowed four runs on seven hits and two walks over 4.1 innings Monday, striking out eight and taking a loss against the Astros.

Mejia allowed RBI base hits in the first and fourth innings before coughing up a two-run shot to Yordan Alvarez in the fifth, knocking him out of the contest. He's given up at least four runs in four of his last five outings, driving his ERA up to 7.53 through 34.2 innings. He's also lost five straight decisions dating back to June 9. Mejia is currently projected to face the Rays at home this weekend.

Pressly walked one batter and struck out another in a scoreless ninth inning Monday, earning a save over Cleveland.

Pressly walked Roberto Perez to open the inning but quickly worked around it to earn his 17th save of the season. The 32-year-old righty has now converted his last 10 save chances and is currently riding a 12-inning scoreless streak, lowering his season ERA to 1.38 through 39 innings. He hasn't been charged with an earned run in 16 innings since the start of June.

Hatch was promoted to the big club Monday afternoon, and he won't need to wait long to make his season debut. He's found plenty of success at Triple-A Buffalo in 2021, accruing a 2.15 ERA and 1.07 WHIP with 29 punchouts across 29.1 innings after posting similar numbers in his big-league debut last year.
