Chapman earned the save over the Mariners on Wednesday by tossing a scoreless frame in which he gave up one hit and one walk while striking out one.

Chapman's outing didn't come without some stress -- Seattle got the tying run on base with a two-out single -- but the veteran closer was able to close out the contest and notch his 23rd save. His job appeared to be at least mildly in question after he gave up nine runs across 1.1 frames between June 23 and July 4, but Chapman has rebounded since then with an 11-inning stretch during which he has surrendered just one run while collecting 19 strikeouts. Walks remain a concern, however, as the left-hander has issued eight free passes in the 11-inning span and has posted a less-than-ideal 6.4 BB/9 on the season.

Sewald (6-3) was tagged with the loss in relief Thursday against the Yankees, as he gave up three runs on three hits while fanning one.

Tyler Anderson delivered a good performance Thursday, but the bullpen faltered once again and Sewald was the one that allowed the Yankees to score what would eventually be the winning run. Aside from blowing the save and essentially giving the game away, Sewald also ended a streak of six straight scoreless appearances.

Harris has not pitched this year due an undisclosed injury.

The 24-year-old lefty last logged a 2.51 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 29 strikeouts in 28.2 innings at High-A in 2019.

Pardinho has been shut down since July 8 with elbow soreness, Ben Badler of Baseball America reports.

He underwent Tommy John surgery in February of 2020, so the three innings he logged in the Florida Complex League this year were his first since 2019. It's certainly concerning that he is back on the shelf, and we may not see him return to game action this season. Pardinho has a career 2.48 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 103 strikeouts in 90.2 innings and won't turn 21 until January.

Foster was optioned to Triple-A Charlotte on Friday.

The right-hander was promoted to the majors on Tuesday and delivered two scoreless frames in his lone appearance before being sent back down. Overall Foster has a 5.64 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 33:10 K:BB over 30.1 innings for the White Sox this season.

Hearn allowed two unearned runs on three hits and two walks while striking out four over four relief innings in Thursday's 5-0 loss to the Angels.

Hearn was used as part of a tandem along with starter Spencer Howard, who lasted 2.1 innings before he was pulled. This was the longest outing of the season for Hearn, who the Rangers are stretching out to handle a normal workload for a starting pitcher.

Brentz fired a perfect ninth inning while striking out one, earning the save in the win over the White Sox on Thursday.

Brentz received the call to close out the game with a one-run lead for the first time this season. He retired the side in order for his first career save. The 26-year-old has a 3.21 ERA and a 1.22 WHIP with 54 strikeouts in 47.2 innings. Greg Holland and Scott Barlow are the regular ninth-inning guys, but they pitched the seventh and the eighth innings to preserve the lead. Brentz could receive more occasional save opportunities, but the Royals remain a closer-by-committee.

Colome got the save in Thursday's 5-3 victory versus the Astros, recording the final out.

Colome entered with one on and two out in the ninth after Danny Coulombe allowed two runs and induced a Martin Maldonado lineout to secure the win. The 32-year-old now has four saves, four blown saves and five holds on the campaign and looks to be Minnesota's closer at least for the interim.

Jax (2-1) won Thursday's 5-3 game against Houston, allowing one run on three hits and a walk in 5.1 innings. He failed to record a strikeout.

Jax stymied a potent Astros lineup through five innings but ran into trouble in the sixth by permitting a Jason Castro home run and a double while inducing only one out before being removed. The rookie right-hander has now allowed a single run in three consecutive appearances, lowering his ERA from 8.66 to 5.63, though he sports a low 6.2 K/9.

Howard (0-3) allowed three earned runs on three hits and two walks while striking out three across 2.1 innings to take the loss Thursday against the Angels.

Howard made his debut with the Rangers but remained limited in his ability to work deep into the game. He surrendered a solo home run to Adam Eaton to lead off the third inning and fell apart from there, allowing two singles before throwing a wild pitch to allow another run to cross the plate. Whether by design or due to his struggles, Howard managed only 45 pitches prior to being pulled. He has failed to work more than four innings in any outing this season.
