Peralta will start Friday's game against Seattle, Erik Boland of Newsday reports.

Peralta was reinstated from COVID-19 injured list Thursday and Friday's start will mark his first appearance since. He isn't likely to work deep into the game, as he hasn't completed more than 1.1 innings in any outing this season. A bulk reliever will likely follow Peralta, with Stephen Ridings and Albert Abreu candidates to work multiple innings.

Zimmermann (biceps) is scheduled to make the second start of his rehab assignment Thursday at Triple-A Norfolk, Steve Melewski of MASNSports.com reports.

After being placed on the 10-day injured list June 18 with left biceps tendinitis, Zimmermann was cleared to begin his rehab assignment at High-A Aberdeen last weekend. He tossed three innings in that start, giving up two runs (one earned) on three hits and two walks while striking out four. Zimmermann tossed 55 pitches in that outing, and if he can push into the 70-to-80 range Thursday, he could slot back into the Baltimore rotation for his next start.

De Leon announced Thursday via his personal Twitter account that he signed a minor-league contract with the Red Sox.

De Leon will be moving on to his fourth MLB organization after he was released by the Reds just over a week ago. After being demoted to Triple-A Louisville in early May, De Leon made 12 appearances out of the bullpen with the affiliate, logging a 4.63 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 19 strikeouts in 11.2 innings. Expect him to report to Triple-A Worcester to begin his tenure with the Red Sox organization.

The Yankees reinstated Peralta from the COVID-19 injured list Thursday.

Before testing positive for the virus July 15, Peralta appeared in 22 games for the Yankees, posting a 5.19 ERA and 10:7 K:BB in 17.1 relief innings. The lefty figures to pitch in low-leverage situations going forward.

Canterino (elbow) is hoping to return to action sometime in August, Matt Eddy of Baseball America reports.

He has missed over two months with an elbow strain, but for now it seems the plan is for him to avoid surgery and get back on the mound this season. Canterino was dominant through four starts with High-A Cedar Rapids before suffering the injury, logging a 1.00 ERA, 0.72 WHIP and 35:3 K:BB in 18 innings (four starts). While he has a very high ceiling, he is not out of the woods yet from a health standpoint.

Tapia has a 3.86 ERA over seven innings this season.

Since he was called up from Triple-A Omaha on July 23, he's posted four scoreless outings. Tapia's one mistake was a disastrous inning versus Toronto on July 30 in which he yielded three runs. The 30-year-old reliever is unlikely to step into a high-leverage role, but he's been able to pitch without yielding too many baserunners (nine hits, three walks). A 4.67 FIP suggests regression could pop up at any time, especially when hitters have a .381 BABIP against Tapia, though it's worth noting the small sample size.

Brasier (concussion) is expected to throw one more live batting practice before starting a rehab assignment, Alex Speier of The Boston Globe reports.

The righty threw a successful live BP session Wednesday. Triple-A Worcester's pitching coach Paul Abbott said Brasier wasn't flinching or hesitating at opposing hitters' swings. Brasier suffered the concussion when he took a comebacker to the head and was hospitalized June 4. Once he begins his rehab, the 32-year-old figures to require at least a couple of appearances before being ready for activation.

Mejia (1-7) took the loss Wednesday, surrendering eight runs on seven hits and four walks over 2.1 innings as Cleveland fell 8-6 to the Blue Jays. He failed to strike out a batter.

George Springer clobbered the first pitch he saw for a solo shot to lead off the bottom of the first inning, and things never got any better for Mejia. The rookie is saddled with an 8.75 ERA through his first 47.1 big-league innings thanks in part to 11 homers allowed, and only Cleveland's injury woes are keeping him in the rotation.

Hernandez (3-1) earned the win over the White Sox on Wednesday, pitching five innings and allowing one run on two hits and two walks while striking out six.

The right-hander needed 93 pitches to get through five frames, but he hung around long enough to take advantage of a generous offense and notch his second straight victory. Hernandez racked up a healthy 15 swinging strikes and tied his season high with six punchouts. Since moving into the rotation July 18, he has posted a 4.08 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 18:9 K:BB across 17.2 innings. Hernandez is tentatively slated to make his next start at home against the Yankees early next week.

Iglesias walked one and struck out one across a scoreless ninth inning to earn the save Wednesday against Texas.

Iglesias was handed only a one-run lead, and he began his outing by walking the leadoff hitter. However, he struck out the next batter he faced and then induced a double play to end the game and earn his 23rd save of the season. Iglesias has held opponents scoreless in nine of his last 10 outings, racking up six saves and a win in that span. Overall, he has a 3.08 ERA with 74 strikeouts across 49.2 innings for the season.
