Abreu was recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Thursday.

The 26-year-old last pitched in the majors Sept. 18, surrendering five runs in 0.2 innings against Cleveland. Prior to that outing, he had four consecutive scoreless appearances in low-leverage situations for the Yankees. He'll take the roster spot of Luke Voit (knee), who was placed on the 10-day injured list Thursday.

Solomon was optioned to Triple-A Sugar Land on Thursday, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

Solomon made a pair of relief appearances after he was called up Friday, and he allowed one run in seven innings. However, the right-hander will head back to the minors after Kendall Graveman was reinstated from the paternity list Thursday.

Graveman was away from the Astros since Tuesday, but he'll be available out of the bullpen for Thursday's series finale against the Rays. The right-hander has posted a 1.04 ERA and 1.96 WHIP in 8.2 innings across nine appearances in September, but he was charged with blown saves in each of his last three outings.

Holmes (8-4) suffered the loss against the Blue Jays on Wednesday, allowing one run on one hit while striking out one across one inning.

Holmes was asked to handle the eighth inning with the score tied 5-5. He immediately gave up a home run to Bo Bichette before retiring the next three batters in order. The right-hander was tagged with the loss when New York couldn't mount a comeback in the ninth. Despite the disappointing outcome, Holmes has been impressive since joining the Yankees in late July, posting a 1.73 ERA, 0.81 WHIP and 32:3 K:BB over 26 innings. He has racked up five wins and six holds for New York.

Loaisiga pitched a perfect inning against Toronto on Wednesday, striking out one batter.

The right-hander made his return from a nearly four-week stay on the injured list and was called upon to face the heart of Toronto's order in the seventh inning. He did so with ease, striking out George Springer before getting both Marcus Semien and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. to ground out. Loaisiga's return is a major boon to the Yankees' bullpen, as he has notched nine wins, five saves and 17 holds while posting a 2.22 ERA and 1.01 WHIP across 55 appearances this season.

Wittgren (2-9) allowed three runs on two hits and a walk in one inning, taking the loss versus Kansas City on Wednesday.

Wittgren was responsible for Hunter Dozier's two-run triple, and the right-hander let him come across to score on a wild pitch. An uneven September has seen Wittgren post an 8.18 ERA and 1.55 WHIP in his last 11 innings. He has a 5.14 ERA, 1.26 WHIP, 61:17 K:BB with one save and nine holds through 61.1 innings.

Romano gave up a hit and struck out one in a scoreless ninth inning Wednesday to record his 22nd save of the season in a 6-5 win over the Yankees.

The right-hander turned in his ninth straight scoreless appearance to help keep the Jays in the hunt for a wild-card spot. Romano has been outstanding since the All-Star break, posting a 2.51 ERA, 0.84 WHIP and 42:7 K:BB through 28.2 second-half innings while converting all 15 of his save chances.

Chafin (2-4) took the loss Wednesday against the Mariners after giving up one run on one hit and a walk in an inning of work.

Chafin entered to pitch in the bottom of the seventh with the game tied 2-2, and he walked the opening batter before allowing a base hit to put runners on first and third. Ty France was able to put the Mariners back ahead with a sacrifice fly that scored the runner from third and the Athletics weren't able to make up the deficit. It was Chafin's first run given up in six appearances since Sept. 15 and is his second loss this month. The self-proclaimed "failed starter" has been elite as a reliever this year with a 1.83 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 64:19 K:BB over 68.2 innings.

Lovelady (elbow) announced Wednesday that he recently underwent Tommy John surgery, Lynn Worthy of The Kansas City Star reports.

Lovelady was initially expected to avoid surgery for the sprained UCL in his left elbow, but that is no longer the case. Given the recovery timeline involved with the surgery, it's unlikely the lefty pitches in the majors during 2022. He should have plenty of time to be ready for the 2023 season, barring any setbacks in the lengthy recovery.

Manager Dusty Baker said Pressly (knee) would have been available for a potential save situation during Wednesday's 7-0 loss to the Rays, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Baker announced Tuesday that Pressly was unavailable for that contest due to an old knee issue that cropped up, though it's apparently not a serious concern since the right-hander was available a day later. The 31-year-old hasn't pitched since Sunday, and the Astros are likely to utilize him at least once during the final four games of the season to keep him fresh heading into the playoffs, regardless of whether or not a save opportunity arises.
