Hall will start Friday at High-A Aberdeen, Dan Connolly of The Athletic reports.

Hall was transferred from Double-A Bowie to the development list April 8, but he'll make his first minor-league start of the season three weeks later. The southpaw has been effective at limiting runs for most of his career in the minors, but he's had some issues with command.

Brieske is starting Saturday's game against the Dodgers, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Brieske's first major-league game start came in Game 2 of Saturday's doubleheader against the Rockies, and he allowed three runs on three hits and two walks while striking out three in five innings to take the loss. The right-hander will make another turn through the rotation since Casey Mize (elbow) and Matt Manning (shoulder) remain on the injured list, but Brieske has a tough matchup against one of the top lineups in baseball.

Sewald (illness) was activated from the COVID-19 injured list Wednesday.

Sewald spent a week away from the Mariners while on the COVID-19 IL, but he'll be available out of the bullpen during Wednesday's game in Tampa Bay. Now that he's back with the team, the right-hander should be part of Seattle's late-inning mix once again.

The Mariners returned Murfee to Triple-A Tacoma on Wednesday.

Since Murfee was called up April 20 as a replacement for a player on the COVID-19-related injured list (Paul Sewald), he'll be removed from the 40-man roster as he makes his way back to the minors. The 27-year-old right-hander went unused out of the bullpen during his six-day stint with Seattle.

The Blue Jays recalled Vasquez from Triple-A Buffalo on Wednesday.

Toronto will bring Vasquez aboard as another left-handed option out of the bullpen after southpaw Ryan Borucki (finger) was moved to the 10-day injured list in a corresponding move. Vasquez was sharp over his five appearances at Triple-A to begin the season, striking out seven and allowing four baserunners over 6.1 scoreless innings.

The Blue Jays placed Borucki (finger) on the 10-day injured list Wednesday.

Toronto called up Andrew Vasquez from Triple-A Buffalo to give the team another lefty option out of the bullpen while Borucki is on the shelf. Since he's tending to a blister on his pitching hand rather than a major injury, Borucki could be in store for a minimum-length stay on the IL.

Holmes pitched a scoreless inning Tuesday against the Orioles, allowing one hit and striking out one to earn a hold.

Holmes came on in the seventh inning with a runner on second base and the Yankees holding a two-run lead. He allowed a hit that scored the inherited runner but otherwise navigated through the frame to preserve the lead. Holmes gave up a run in his first appearance of the season but has since held opponents scoreless across eight innings in his subsequent eight outings. He is tied for first in the American League with five holds on the campaign.

Hendriks (back) acknowledged that he likely won't be available out of the bullpen for Wednesday's game against the Royals, James Fegan of The Athletic reports.

Hendriks noted that he experienced back tightness during his appearance in Saturday's loss to the Twins, but he still proceeded to pitch the next day in the series finale. He ended up taking his second loss of the season in the Twins' 6-4 victory, as he allowed three runs (two earned) on three hits and a walk in the 1.1-inning appearance. Though Hendriks said he's feeling better after resting the past two days, the White Sox will likely look to stay away from him Wednesday to extend him more recovery time. The 33-year-old closer is expected to throw a bullpen session instead Wednesday, and if he back responds well to the activity, he should avoid a trip to the injured list.

Kelly (biceps) will start his rehab assignment with Triple-A Charlotte on Sunday, Vinnie Duber of NBC Sports Chicago reports.

Kelly was rumored to be nearing a rehab assignment Tuesday and now he has an official start date set for this weekend. The righty reliever signed with the White Sox in the offseason after three seasons with the Dodgers, but he's yet to make his season debut as he has been nursing a nerve issue in his arm. He posted a 1.80 ERA and 1.50 WHIP over 10 innings with the Dodgers in 2021. When healthy, Kelly will likely operate as a high-leverage option in the late innings for the White Sox.

Pivetta didn't factor into the decision in Tuesday's 6-5 extra-inning loss to the Blue Jays, giving up two runs on three hits and four walks over 4.2 innings. He struck out six.

The right-hander retired the first six batters he faced, but things quickly went sideways for Pivetta after he issued a leadoff walk to Santago Espinal in the third. He ended up needing 98 pitches (60 strikes) to record 14 outs and exited the game with Boston down 2-1, although a rally in the eighth took him off the hook for the loss. Pivetta is impossible to trust on fantasy rosters right now regardless of his matchup, as his 8.27 ERA and 1.96 WHIP through 16.1 innings are well-earned given his ugly 16.7 percent walk rate and 2.20 HR/9.
