Akin surrendered three runs on three hits in 2.1 innings in Sunday's 10-7 win over the Royals.

Dean Kremer went five-plus innings as the starter, while Akin provided some length out of the bullpen. All three hits Akin allowed were home runs -- a two-run shot to Hunter Dozier in the sixth inning and solo shots by Michael Taylor and Bobby Witt in the seventh. This was Akin's first outing since June 4, and he's allowed seven runs across his last 8.2 innings while recording just two strikeouts in that span. He's posted a 2.61 ERA, 0.87 WHIP and 30:10 K:BB in 38 innings overall, but it appears his luck has started to even out after a remarkable first two months of the season. Prior to Sunday's appearance, he had given up just two homers all year.

Clase allowed a hit and no walks while striking out two in a scoreless ninth inning to earn the save in Sunday's win over the Athletics.

Clase pitched in a non-save situation Wednesday against the Rangers, but he was called upon to preserve a three-run lead during Sunday's series finale against Oakland. The right-hander has tossed 10 scoreless innings over his last 10 appearances and has converted all four of his save chances during that time. Clase has posted a 1.85 ERA and 0.86 WHIP in 34.1 innings over 26 appearances in 2022.

Barlow (2-1) picked up the win despite blowing a save after allowing three runs (two earned) on two hits and a hit batsman while striking out a batter in the 11th inning of an 8-6 win Sunday against the White Sox.

Barlow entered the 11th with a three-run lead and gave up three runs before retiring the final two batters. The Rangers scored twice in the top of the 12th to make Barlow the pitcher of record. It has been a rough month of June for the righty as he is 2-for-4 in save chances and has allowed seven runs (five earned) in five innings of work. His ERA has risen from 1.56 to 3.22 over those five innings.

Sands (0-3) allowed five runs on five hits and a walk with five strikeouts in 4.2 innings, taking the loss Sunday versus the Rays.

Sands got through the Rays' order once without trouble, but he struggled after that. While this was his longest appearance of the year, he didn't enjoy any additional success, as he's now allowed at least four runs in all three of his starts this year. The 24-year-old has an 8.82 ERA, 1.78 WHIP and 18:7 K:BB across 16.1 innings in five appearances overall. With Joe Ryan (illness) and Sonny Gray (pectoral) due back this week, Sands is likely to slip out of the rotation, and he could head back to Triple-A St. Paul or end up in the bullpen again.

Perez earned the save, allowing a walk and a hit in the ninth inning of a 10-7 win Sunday in Kansas City.

Perez wasn't at his best, throwing only 12 of his 23 pitches for strikes, but he got the job done to record his first big-league save. Jorge Lopez had pitched in consecutive games, so Perez got the opportunity to close it out in a three-run game. Despite his 1.36 WHIP, the lefty has limited runs and has a 0.98 ERA in 18.1 innings.

Warren (nose) was activated off the injured list Sunday.

Warren had been out since early May after getting hit in the face by a ball during batting practice and breaking his nose. He's good to go after four rehab appearances and will replace Oliver Ortega, who was optioned Saturday, in the bullpen.

Ortega was optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake on Saturday.

Ortega had been with the team since Opening Day, recording a respectable 3.81 ERA in 26 innings of relief. He's struggled significantly over his last five outings, however, giving up 11 runs (seven earned) on 10 hits in five innings of work. Austin Warren (nose) was activated off the injured list to take his place in the bullpen.

Sewald (3-1) secured the win in a victory over the Red Sox on Saturday, allowing an earned run on a solo home run and also recording two strikeouts.

Sewald looked like he'd instead be on the hook for his second loss when he yielded a go-ahead solo home run to Bobby Dalbec in the top of the ninth inning, but he was bailed out via clutch Abraham Toro and Dylan Moore hits in the home half of the frame that secured the comeback win. The solo blast was the first hit Sewald had given up in his last four trips to the mound, and he's still carrying a 2.42 ERA and 0.81 WHIP across 22 appearances.

Kelly (hamstring) threw over 20 pitches in a simulated game Sunday and could be activated from the 15-day injured list during the upcoming week, James Fegan of The Athletic reports.

He will on a rehab assignment with Triple-A Charlotte to begin the week, but it could be a very brief stint since Kelly says he's ready to go. Once activated, Kelly will operate in a mid-leverage role.

Brentz (elbow) was transferred to the 60-day injured list Sunday.

This is not surprising, as Brentz is on the shelf with a left flexor strain. He should be considered out indefinitely.
