Blue Jays' Chase Lee: Optioned to Triple-A

The Blue Jays optioned Lee to Triple-A Buffalo on Wednesday.

Lee put his best foot forward in attempting to win a spot in the Blue Jays' bullpen, tossing 6.1 scoreless innings during Grapefruit League play. While it ultimately wasn't enough, he should get a look when the club inevitably requires relief help.

  • Yimi Garcia RP | TOR

Blue Jays' Yimi Garcia: Heads to IL

The Blue Jays placed Garcia (elbow) on the 15-day injured list Wednesday.

Garcia resumed throwing off a mound shortly before the end of spring training, but he'll need more time to continue building back up before the Blue Jays send him out on a minor-league rehab assignment, perhaps at some point in April. The 35-year-old reliever saw his 2025 campaign come to an early end after he required surgery in September to clean up scar tissue near the ulnar nerve and AC joint of his right elbow.

  • White Sox's Prelander Berroa: Goes on 15-day IL

The White Sox placed Berroa (elbow) on the 15-day injured list Wednesday.

Berroa had Tommy John surgery last March and is still working his way back into game shape. The right-handed reliever has been throwing off a mound since early February, so he might not be far off from a rehab assignment if all goes well.

  • Royals' Eli Morgan: Optioned after getting 40-man spot

The Royals selected Morgan's contract from Triple-A Omaha and optioned him to Omaha on Wednesday.

The Royals will give Morgan a spot on the 40-man roster -- presumably to keep him from opting out of his minor-league deal -- but will stash him in the minors. Morgan had a rough 2025 season with the Cubs, but he posted a 3.27 ERA from 2022-to-2024 out of the Guardians' bullpen.

  • Anthony Nunez RP | BAL

Orioles' Anthony Nunez: Clinches roster spot

The Orioles recalled Nunez from Triple-A Norfolk on Wednesday.

Despite being optioned to the minors back on March 8, Nunez will end up joining the Orioles ahead of Opening Day after a spot opened up with Keegan Akin (groin) landing on the 15-day injured list in a corresponding move. Nunez has yet to make his MLB debut but pitched effectively out of the Norfolk bullpen last season after he was acquired in a trade with the Mets last July. Over 16 appearances for Norfolk, Nunez posted a 3.45 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and 21:7 K:BB across 15.2 innings.

  • Jordan Romano RP | LAA

Angels' Jordan Romano: Possible closer with Yates out

Romano could be a top candidate to open the season as the Angels' closer after the team placed Kirby Yates (knee) on the 15-day injured list Tuesday.

The Angels haven't disclosed a plan for the late innings, but with Yates joining Ben Joyce (shoulder) and Robert Stephenson (elbow) on the shelf, Romano and southpaw Drew Pomeranz are left as the most likely options for the ninth. Romano has endured a rough past two seasons, but he has past closing experience, twice earning 36 saves with Toronto, and has shined this spring with a 6:0 K:BB and only one earned run allowed in six innings. Pomeranz, meanwhile, has never recorded more than four saves in a season and struggled during exhibition play with a 4:4 K:BB and five earned runs allowed in 4.2 frames.

  • Keegan Akin RP | BAL

Orioles' Keegan Akin: Shelved with groin strain

The Orioles placed Akin on the 10-day injured list Wednesday due to a left groin strain.

Akin was diagnosed with the groin strain following an MRI earlier this week, after he had initially experienced the injury while warming up for a Grapefruit League game last Saturday. The Orioles haven't provided a timeline for Akin's return, but he won't be eligible to make his 2026 debut until April 6 after landing on the shelf.

  • Rays' Steven Wilson: Goes on 60-day injured list

The Rays placed Wilson (back) on the 60-day injured list Wednesday.

Wilson had expressed optimism that his absence would be brief, but his placement on the 60-day IL means the reliever's recovery has not come along as hoped. He's working his way back from lumbar disc inflammation.

  • Orioles' Andrew Kittredge: Out with shoulder inflammation

The Orioles placed Kittredge (shoulder) on the 15-day injured list Wednesday.

Kittredge developed right shoulder inflammation in early March. He will be eligible for activation April 6, and at last check the Orioles were expecting him to be ready to go on that date. Once healthy, Kittredge will fill a setup role.

  • Edwin Uceta RP | TB

Rays' Edwin Uceta: Sent to 15-day injured list

The Rays placed Uceta (shoulder) on the 15-day injured list Wednesday.

Uceta came down with a right shoulder impingement in February. He resumed mound work in mid-March but still has some building up to do. Uceta has not pitched in a game since last season, so he will require a few rehab appearances once he's deemed game-ready.
