Chargois allowed one hit and struck out one across a scoreless inning Friday against the Red Sox.

Chargois served as the opener and needed only 12 pitches to work the scoreless frame. He has taken on a heavy workload since returning from the injured list Tuesday and has already pitched three scoreless innings while picking up three strikeouts as opposed to one walk. Chargois has missed the majority of the season due to an oblique injury, but he looks to be in for a heavy workload to close the campaign.

Hill pitched three scoreless innings of relief in Friday's loss to the Rangers. He allowed two hits and a walk while striking out four.

Detroit starter Tyler Alexander allowed seven runs across three innings, but Hill came in and pitched much better. The righty recently shifted to the bullpen with Eduardo Rodriguez (personal) rejoining the rotation, though the likes of Alexander and Drew Hutchison aren't the most well-established starters toward the back of the staff. That leaves open the possibility of Hill picking up more starts at some point, though Bryan Garcia could also get recalled from Triple-A Toledo if the Tigers need another starter. As a starter this season, Hill has logged a 4.22 ERA and 1.31 WHIP across 42.2 innings (eight starts).

Hernandez struck out one over a scoreless eighth inning to earn a hold in Friday's 7-6 win over the Tigers.

Hernandez has been the primary closer for the Rangers since late July, but interim manager Tony Beasley had the right-hander pitch the eighth inning in what was heading to be a save situation -- the Rangers were leading 7-4. Instead, Beasley left the ninth inning for Jose Leclerc, who allowed a pair runs while converting the save. It was the second time this week that Beasley skipped Hernandez for a save -- Matt Moore closed out a win Monday.

Leclerc picked up the save Friday against the Tigers, allowing two runs on two hits while striking out three and walking one over one inning.

Leclerc was called in to save the game in the ninth, but had a few scares after allowing a walk from Jeimer Candelario and a two-run home run from Riley Greene, putting the Tigers within one run of a tie. Brett Martin has not had a save since July 11 and Jonathan Hernandez's last one was Aug. 15. The Rangers lack stability in the closer role, but Leclerc is not doing himself any favors fighting for saves with outings like the one he had Friday.

Otto (6-8) earned the win against the Tigers on Friday, allowing four runs on five hits while striking out three and walking two over five innings.

Otto's outing Friday was not pretty, but it did the job. He threw 48 of 80 pitches for strikes across four frames, but was able to pick up the win thanks to an offensive outburst from his team. The righty has only completed six innings five times in 20 starts, whether by design or because of his performance. Friday's four-run clunker raised Otto's ERA to 4.79.

Tate retired the only batter he faced to pick up the save in a 2-0 win over the Astros on Friday.

Tate was called on in relief with men on first and second and two out in the bottom of the ninth. He made quick work of former teammate Trey Mancini by striking him out on three pitches to notch his third save of the season. Closer Felix Bautista was taking a day of rest after throwing 18 pitches for the win in Thursday's game. This was Tate's first scoreless appearance in his last four.

Alexander (3-8) took the loss to the Rangers on Friday, allowing seven runs on eight hits while striking out three and walking one over three innings.

Alexander had a rough day Friday, getting knocked around for seven earned runs across three frames. He threw 43 of 68 pitches for strikes and was relieved Garrett Hill for the fourth inning. Alexander was mostly done in by home runs, three in total. He allowed a solo homer in the first inning, a three-run shot in the second and a two-run blast in the third. This was his worst start of the season, though he turned in a quality start in two of his three previous outings. Alexander's ERA shot up from 4.03 to 4.83 after Friday's debacle.

Clase (2-3) allowed an unearned run on one hit without recording an out, taking the loss in extra innings versus the Mariners on Friday.

Clase gave up the game-winning hit to Mitch Haniger on the third pitch of the 11th inning, bringing home the phantom runner. This ended Clase's 7.1-inning scoreless streak. The right-hander still has a 1.20 ERA with a 0.66 WHIP and 57:6 K:BB through 52.2 innings while racking up 29 saves this year as the unquestioned closer for Cleveland.

Peralta allowed a run on two hits and struck out two in one inning to earn the save in Friday's 3-2 win over the Athletics.

It wasn't the sharpest of outings, but Peralta was able to protect a two-run lead. This was the second straight appearance in which he's earned a save. As a high-leverage lefty, he could be in line for some matchup-based opportunities in the ninth inning while Clay Holmes (back) and Scott Effross (shoulder) are on the injured list. Peralta has pitched to a solid 2.57 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 40:17 K:BB through 49 innings this year while adding three saves, eight holds and a 2-3 record in 48 appearances.

Yarbrough (1-8) allowed five runs on eight hits over 3.1 innings Friday, striking out three and taking a loss against the Red Sox.

Yarbrough took over in the second frame after a scoreless inning by opener JT Chargois and he promptly gave up a run. The 30-year-old lefty then gave up two more runs in each of the fourth and fifth innings. Yarbrough had tossed 8.1 scoreless frames over his previous two outings, but his ERA now sits at 4.87 through 16 appearances. He'll likely take the mound at home against the Yankees next week.
