Yarbrough (1-8) allowed five runs on eight hits over 3.1 innings Friday, striking out three and taking a loss against the Red Sox.

Yarbrough took over in the second frame after a scoreless inning by opener JT Chargois and he promptly gave up a run. The 30-year-old lefty then gave up two more runs in each of the fourth and fifth innings. Yarbrough had tossed 8.1 scoreless frames over his previous two outings, but his ERA now sits at 4.87 through 16 appearances. He'll likely take the mound at home against the Yankees next week.

Saucedo (hip) resumed a rehab assignment at Triple-A Buffalo on Friday, Mitch Bannon of SI.com reports.

Saucedo recently had his rehab assignment paused due to left shoulder fatigue, but he returned to action at Buffalo on Friday and struck out the side on 15 pitches. The southpaw has had rehab assignments paused twice since landing on the injured list in late April, so the Blue Jays will likely exercise caution before clearing him to rejoin the major-league club.

Howard (shoulder) is scheduled to throw live batting practice Saturday, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.

The 26-year-old was placed the injured list with a right shoulder impingement syndrome Aug. 10, and he resumed throwing in a bullpen session last week. Howard is expected to throw 30-35 pitches Saturday and could begin a rehab assignment next week if all goes well.

Reyes had his contract selected by the Angels on Friday.

The Angels have three players who are unvaccinated and can't travel into Canada for this weekend's three-game set in Toronto, including two relievers, and Reyes will join the team as bullpen depth. The right-hander last pitched in the majors in 2019 and has a 3.92 ERA, 1.49 WHIP and 52:28 K:BB in 38 appearances with Triple-A Salt Lake this year.

Marte was recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake on Friday.

Marte has spent the past few weeks in the minors but will rejoin the big-league club for this weekend's series in Toronto. The 26-year-old has appeared in five games this season in the majors and given up three earned runs with a 7:7 K:BB across 5.1 innings.

Loup (personal) was placed on the restricted list Friday.

Loup is apparently unvaccinated, so he won't be able to enter Canada for the three-game series this weekend in Toronto. The left-hander should rejoin the Angles ahead of Monday's series opener against the Yankees.

Weissert allowed three runs on two walks while hitting two batters over one-third of an inning against Oakland on Thursday.

Weissert was called up from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Thursday and was summoned from the bullpen with the Yankees up big in the seventh inning. His first outing as a major-leaguer didn't go well, as he threw only five of 15 pitches for strikes and hit two batters in addition to issuing two free passes while recording only one out. Nerves likely came into play, but Weissert has had some control issues in the minors this season, registering a 3.7 BB/9 and hitting five batters over 46 innings. He was able to overcome that to post a 1.76 ERA and 0.89 WHIP, however.

Bautista (4-3) struck out two across two perfect innings to earn the extra-innings win over the White Sox on Thursday.

The right-hander needed just 18 pitches (13 strikes) to navigate the 10th and 11th frames, and he didn't let the phantom runner in either inning leave second base. Bautista has settled in nicely as the Orioles' closer, logging a 1.46 ERA, 0.73 WHIP and 17:2 K:BB while going 6-for-6 in save chances through 11 appearances in August spanning 12.1 innings. For the year, he's posted a dominant 1.62 ERA, 0.84 WHIP and 73:16 K:BB through 55.2 innings.

Honeywell (elbow) allowed three earned runs on five hits, a walk, a wild pitch and a hit batsman over 2.2 innings in Triple-A Las Vegas' loss to Sugar Land on Thursday. He struck out four.

As his final line indicates, Honeywell's control and location left much to be desired in his second rehab outing with the Aviators, after he logged his first pair of minor-league rehab appearances with Single-A Stockton. Honeywell did work up to 45 pitches thanks to his inefficiency, but the 27-year-old's 14.73 ERA over his first 3.2 innings with Las Vegas supports the notion he'll likely have to prove himself over several more outings before being added to the big-league staff.

Yarbrough is scheduled to work behind opener JT Chargois for Friday's game in Boston, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Yarbrough will be making his 16th appearance of the season Friday and his seventh while coming out of the bullpen. He's turned in similar results as a reliever (4.38 ERA, .357 wOBA in 24.2 innings) compared to a traditional starter's role (4.46 ERA, .323 wOBA in 40.1 innings), but he claimed his lone win of the season while working as a primary pitcher Aug. 15 against the Yankees.
