Trivino has made three relief appearances for the Yankees since experiencing back spasms earlier this month, covering 1.2 innings in those outings while striking out one and allowing one earned run on three hits and one walk.

Trivino apparently picked up the injury coming out of his Sept. 4 appearance and didn't pitch for six days before he was used out of the bullpen last weekend. The Yankees haven't indicated that Trivino has experienced any setbacks since returning to action, so he'll likely continue to serve in a middle-relief or setup role for the club moving forward.

Pilkington is scheduled to start the second game of Saturday's doubleheader with the Twins, Ryan Lewis of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.

He'll be getting his second start of the week after he worked five innings while giving up four earned runs on three hits and three walks in a no-decision against the Angels on Monday. Pilkington is likely to head to the bullpen or to Triple-A Columbus following Saturday's outing, as Aaron Civale (forearm) looks to be trending toward a return from the 15-day injured list next week and would presumably take back his rotation spot from the rookie left-hander.

Chapman (leg) will join the Yankees in Milwaukee on Friday and will be activated for the series opener against the Brewers, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

The veteran left-hander appeared in two minor-league games during his rehab assignment earlier this week and is poised to rejoin the big club Friday after being sidelined more than three weeks by a leg infection. Clay Holmes is back in the closer role since he returned from the injured list in late August, and Chapman could fill a setup role upon his activation.

The Athletics outrighted Tapia to Triple-A Las Vegas on Wednesday.

He'll stay in the Oakland organization after he cleared waivers following his removal from the 40-man roster. Prior to being designated for assignment, Tapia made 11 appearances out of the big-league bullpen and turned in an 8.47 ERA over 17 innings.

Payamps (3-5) took the loss against the Rangers on Tuesday, allowing a game-winning solo home run over one-third of an inning.

Payamps' blink-and-you-missed-it ninth-inning appearance began with a Marcus Semien pop fly but quickly ended when he served up a 395-foot solo shot to Mark Mathias to snap a 7-7 tie and send the Rangers home winners. Payamps' stumble notwithstanding, the right-hander has been mostly reliable since joining the Athletics off waivers Aug. 20, posting a 2.31 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and two holds across 10 appearances.

Pruitt gave up two earned runs on two hits while striking out a batter in one inning of relief in Tuesday's 8-7 loss to the Rangers.

Though Pruitt tossed five no-hit innings when he was needed for a spot start against the White Sox last weekend, the Athletics won't give the right-hander an extended audition in the rotation. After faltering in his relief outing Tuesday, Pruitt now sits on an unremarkable 4.53 ERA and 12.8 K-BB% over 47.2 innings on the season.

White didn't factor into the decision in a 4-2 loss to the Rays during the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader, giving up three runs on seven hits over six innings of relief. He struck out two without walking a batter.

Julian Merryweather got the nod as an opener in the matinee and handed the Rays a 1-0 lead they never relinquished, so what otherwise would have been a quality start for White instead was merely his best performance since he joined the Jays. The right-hander carries a 7.47 ERA, 1.69 WHIP and 24:11 K:BB through 31.1 innings since the trade that brought him to Toronto, but given his relative success in a bulk reliever role, it wouldn't be a surprise to see him get the same assignment the next time his turn through the rotation comes around.

Fairbanks gave up a hit and struck out two over 1.1 scoreless innings Tuesday to record his seventh save of the season in the first game of a doubleheader against the Blue Jays.

After Shawn Armstrong gave up a couple runs in the eighth inning to make the score 4-2 and ruin Tampa Bay's combined shutout bid, Fairbanks got the call to squash the rally and notch the save. All seven of the right-hander's saves have come since the All-Star break, and he sports an eye-popping 0.95 ERA, 0.63 WHIP and 28:2 K:BB through 19 innings in the second half while also chipping in five holds.

Morris allowed one run on two hits and five walks while striking out four over 3.2 innings in a no-decision versus the Angels on Tuesday.

Morris stretched out to 75 pitches (41 strikes) in this outing, though his command is still lacking. He gave up the Angels' lone run of the game, a Matt Thaiss solo shot in the third inning. Through 9.2 innings, Morris has shown some promise with a 2.79 ERA, but his 9:8 K:BB suggests he's gotten fairly lucky through his first three major-league starts. The right-hander should only face a small workload restriction in his next outing, which is projected for this weekend versus the Twins, but he'll need to get more efficient at finding the strike zone.

Taylor was optioned to Triple-A Sugar Land on Tuesday.

Taylor had been sidelined since June 3, and he will continue to get back in game shape in the minors. Manager Dusty Baker told reporters that Taylor is in consideration for a spot on Houston's postseason roster, and he'll be helped by the fact that he's a southpaw in a bullpen otherwise lacking lefty options. Prior to hitting the injured list, Taylor struggled to a 3.94 ERA, 1.56 WHIP and 9:10 K:BB across 16 innings in the majors.
