Barnes pitched a scoreless ninth inning, allowing one hit while notching a save in Monday's 4-3 victory against the Rays.

Barnes entered the game in the top of the ninth inning tasked with protecting a 4-3 lead. He was able to work around a one-out triple by Wander Franco to escape with his seventh save of the campaign. Barnes has now produced 11 consecutive scoreless outings since Aug. 31, pitching 10.1 innings while striking out seven batters over that stretch. The right-hander has now gone 7-for-9 on save chances while producing a 4.42 ERA and 1.47 WHIP with 34 strikeouts over 38.2 innings in 43 appearances this season.

Hendriks picked up the save Monday against the Twins. He allowed no runs on one hit, one walk and one hit batsman while striking out three over one inning.

With the White Sox up 3-2 in the ninth inning, Hendriks allowed a leadoff single to Gio Urshela and struck out the next two batters. However, he proceeded to hit a batter and allow a walk to load the bases before striking out Mark Contreras to end the game. Hendriks has allowed just one run in 11.2 innings dating back to the beginning of September with 18 strikeouts. He is 8-for-8 in save opportunities during that span.

Clarke recorded two strikeouts in a perfect inning to earn a save over Cleveland on Monday.

Clarke needed just 11 pitches (10 strikes) to finish off the 5-2 victory. It was the first time he completed a full inning of work since Aug. 6 and the outing lowered his season ERA to 4.04 with a 48:8 K:BB through 47 appearances. Clarke picked up the save in the 10th inning after Scott Barlow worked a scoreless ninth frame.

Effross pitched a scoreless ninth inning, striking out one batter on his way to a save in Monday's 3-1 win over the Rangers.

Effross was called upon in the bottom of the ninth inning to protect a 3-1 lead, retiring all three batters he faced in order, including a strikeout. The save was his fourth of the season and second since returning from the 15-day injured list Sept. 22. Effross now owns a 2.54 ERA and 1.06 WHIP with 62 punchouts over 56.2 innings in 60 games with the Cubs and Yankees this year.

Chapman (3-4) took the loss against Baltimore on Sunday, allowing two runs on one hit and three walks in one-third of an inning. The only out he recorded was by strikeout.

Chapman entered with the score tied 1-1 in the seventh inning and allowed a leadoff single. He then issued two walks to load the bases before striking out Ryan Mountcastle. The veteran reliever couldn't follow up on that successful out, however, as he next walked Gunnar Henderson to allow the go-ahead run to cross the plate. Altogether, Chapman tossed just 12 of 26 pitches for strikes, and this was the fourth time in his past eight outings that he's walked multiple batters. He's posted an awful 7.1 BB/9 over 35.1 innings on the season, and Bryan Hoch of MLB.com suggests that Chapman is in danger of missing out on the Yankees' postseason roster.

The Guardians outrighted Shaw to Triple-A Columbus on Monday, Tom Withers of the Associated Press reports.

Shaw is on the books for $3 million in 2022 and is likely eager to receive the remaining prorated portion of his contract, so his decision to accept the outright assignment rather than electing free agency doesn't come as a surprise. Before he was removed from the Guardians' 40-man roster, Shaw turned in a 5.40 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and 52:26 K:BB in 58.1 innings. His contract includes a $4 million club option for 2023, which the Guardians will almost certainly decline this winter.

The Twins placed Megill on the 15-day injured list Monday with a left oblique strain.

Aaron Sanchez was called up from Triple-A St. Paul to join the bullpen as a replacement for Megill, who was removed from his relief appearance in Sunday's loss to the Tigers due to the injury. Megill will close the 2022 campaign with four wins, three holds, a 4.80 ERA and 1.49 WHP in 39 appearances spanning 45 innings.

The Oriolesn="Baltimore Orioles" data-type="SPORTS_OBJECT_TEAM" data-league-abbreviation="MLB" data-team-abbreviation="BAL">Orioles recalled Cano from Triple-A Norfolk on Monday.

He'll be rejoining the Baltimore bullpen as a replacement for closer Felix Bautista (knee), who was placed on the 15-day injured list. Dillon Tate is likely the leading candidate to get the first crack at any save chances the Orioles get over the final three games of the season, while Cano is expected to be ticketed for a low-leverage relief role.

Bautista's move to the IL came just minutes after the rookie would be shut down for the remainder of the season due to left knee discomfort. The 27-year-old should be fully recovered from the injury well in advance of spring training and will be the odds-on favorite to open the 2023 campaign as the Orioles' closer, barring the addition of some veteran competition over the weekend. Bautista finished his first season in the big leagues with 15 saves in 17 chances to go with a 2.19 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 88 strikeouts over 65.2 innings.

Orioles manager Brandon Hyde confirmed Monday that Bautista (knee) won't be available for the team's final three games of the season, Nathan Ruiz of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Bautista has been tending to left knee discomfort since his latest relief appearance Friday against the Yankees, and with the Orioles having recently been eliminated from playoff contention, Hyde won't ask his closer to pitch at less-than-optimal health. The injury is only a minor blemish on what was a spectacular rookie campaign for the 27-year-old, who converted 15 saves and gathered 14 holds while submitting a 2.19 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 88:23 K:BB across 65.2 innings. Fortunately for Bautista, all tests on his knee came back clean, so he should be in store for a relatively normal offseason, according to Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.
