Hendriks (illness) will begin a minor-league rehab assignment Wednesday, Jesse Rogers of ESPN.com reports.

Less than two weeks after announcing he's cancer free, Hendriks is now officially slated to begin building toward his season debut with the White Sox. It's unclear how many rehab appearances the organization wants Hendriks to make, but it's still very possible the 34-year-old closer returns before the end of May.

The Angels optioned Wantz to Triple-A Salt Lake on Tuesday.

The fact that Wantz has minor-league options remaining seems to be working against him, as his performance at the big-league level (0.79 ERA, 12:4 K:BB in 11.1 innings) certainly didn't warrant a demotion. He should be back up with the big club soon.

The White Sox designated Diekman for assignment Tuesday.

Chicago needed to free up multiple 40-man roster spots as part of a slew of moves Tuesday. Diekman's tenure in Chicago went horribly, as he posted a 7.04 ERA over 39 appearances. The 36-year-old will look to catch on elsewhere after clearing waivers and might have to accept a minor-league contract at this point.

Balazovic has a 2.35 ERA with an 11:5 K:BB in 7.2 innings at Triple-A Rochester. He's made all five appearances out of the bullpen.

Balazovic was formerly a top starting pitching prospect but took a large step back in 2022 with a 7.39 ERA and 4:5 BB/9 at Rochester. It looks like he's permanently moving to the bullpen, which will limit his fantasy upside. However, he could still reach the majors due to his deceptive fastball.

The White Sox designated German for assignment Tuesday.

German is losing his 40-man roster spot in a flurry of moves as the White Sox try to navigate through a highly disappointing 8-21 start to the 2023 campaign. The 25-year-old had allowed nine earned runs on 19 hits and nine walks through 11.1 innings of relief this season at Triple-A Charlotte.

The White Sox selected Peralta's contract from Triple-A Charlotte on Tuesday.

Peralta, 24, holds a 3.52 ERA and 15:3 K:BB over 15.1 relief innings with Charlotte this season. The left-hander's first appearance with the White Sox will mark his major-league debut.

The White Sox selected Colome's contract from Triple-A Charlotte on Tuesday.

Colome held a 2.25 ERA and 7:4 K:BB over eight innings with Charlotte to earn another shot in the majors. The 34-year-old reliever posted a 2.27 ERA over 83 appearances for the White Sox from 2019-20 but has struggled mightily at the big-league level since then.

Kelly was placed on the paternity list Tuesday.

Kelly will miss at least a portion of Chicago's three-game series with the Twins as he welcomes a new addition to his growing family. The veteran setup man has surrendered four earned runs in 4.2 innings (five appearances) this season out of the White Sox bullpen. He was out for part of April due to a right groin strain.

De Los Santos (2-0) earned the win Monday over the Yankees, recording two outs without allowing a baserunner.

De Los Santos got the last two outs of the eighth inning, picking off Anthony Volpe at first base and getting Anthony Rizzo to ground out after replacing starter Cal Quantrill. In the ninth, the Guardians rallied for the lead, and Emmanuel Clase was able to close it out. De Los Santos has given up just three runs (two earned) over 10.1 innings this season, good for a 1.74 ERA. He also has a 1.06 WHIP, 9:5 K:BB and a hold through 11 appearances. De Los Santos isn't likely to get many save chances, but he's holding his own while seeing some high-leverage opportunities.

Holmes (0-2) blew the save and took the loss during Monday's 3-2 defeat at the hands of the Guardians, allowing two runs on two hits and zero walks while failing to record an out.

Domingo German took a shutout into the ninth inning, but after a one-out single, he was pulled after just 88 pitches. Holmes was called on to replace the starter, but he allowed the first batter to reach on a fielding error and surrendered back-to-back singles to tie the game at 2-2. After securing his first four save opportunities this season, he's blown back-to-back chances, so the Yankees might start looking elsewhere for potential closing options, with Michael King being the most likely candidate.
