Moore (oblique) was able to play catch on the field prior to Saturday's game against Seattle, Erica Weston of Bally Sports West reports.

Moore was cleared to resume a throwing program Friday, and the left-hander's first step is being able to participate in a game of catch. The southpaw is recovering from a Grade 2 oblique strain, and the hope is that he'll be able to return to the Angels' bullpen by the end of June.

Barriera is ramping back up towards bullpen sessions after being shut down for two weeks with elbow soreness, Mitch Bannon of SI.com reports.

Barriera has made four starts for Single-A Dunedin this season, striking out a third of the batters he's faced but posting a 5.40 ERA. He hasn't pitched since May 25 but has gotten back to throwing from 90 feet and should soon be cleared to throw a bullpen.

Herrin was recalled from Triple-A Columbus on Saturday, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports.

Herrin has made nine appearances at the big-league level this season, striking out 13 battings in 9.2 innings but struggling to a 7.45 ERA. He owns a 3.63 ERA in 17.1 innings at the Triple-A level. James Karinchak was optioned in a corresponding move.

Karinchak was optioned to Triple-A Columbus on Saturday, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports.

Karinchak's 32 appearances are tied for the league lead, and while he hasn't been as dominant this season, his 3.90 ERA is still a solid mark. His demotion may not be performance-related, however, as the Guardians may simply be looking to bring in some fresh arms. Karinchak has options remaining and has pitched on five of the last seven days, so he was unlikely to be an option for the next game or two. Tim Herrin was called up to take Karinchak's place in the bullpen.

Hernandez will serve as the opening pitcher against the Orioles on Sunday, Jaylon T. Thompson of The Kansas City Star reports.

Hernandez will get the start, and Mike Mayers is expected to receive the bulk innings, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports. Hernandez will likely only go a couple of innings at most, so he won't have the counting stats -- nor the chance to pick up a decision -- against Baltimore on Sunday.

Tampa Bay transferred Fleming (elbow) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Saturday.

Fleming hit the IL on June 2 with what was initially called left elbow soreness, but an MRI revealed cartilage buildup on his elbow bone as well as inflammation, issues from which it will take at least two months to recover. He'll visit a specialist next week to get some additional clarity, according to Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times. Fleming wasn't all that impressive prior to his injury, recording a 4.62 ERA and an 11.6 percent strikeout rate, but his 48.2 innings ranked third on the team, so the Rays will have to fill those innings somehow.

Reyes had his contract selected by the Angels from Triple-A Salt Lake on Saturday.

Reyes will take the place of Ben Joyce (hand), who is reportedly heading to the 15-day injured list. In 19 appearances with Salt Lake, Reyes has registered a 4.64 ERA and 32 strikeouts over 21.1 innings with a 1.55 WHIP. He'll likely be a low-leverage option while with the Angels.

Patino was optioned to Triple-A Durham on Saturday.

Patino was recalled Wednesday and made his first big-league appearance of the year Friday against the Rangers, giving up a pair of solo homers in two innings of work. He'll return to the minors, where he's also fared poorly, struggling to a 7.64 ERA in 35.1 innings. Jose Lopez takes his spot in the bullpen.

Lopez's contract was selected by the Rays on Saturday.

The 24-year-old lefty was selected by the Padres in the Rule 5 Draft over the winter but was returned to the Rays when he failed to crack San Diego's roster. He hasn't been particularly impressive for Triple-A Durham, posting a 5.19 ERA in 26 innings of work, but he'll get a look at the big-league level for the Rays nonetheless. Luis Patino was optioned in a corresponding move.

Howard was optioned to Triple-A Round Rock on Saturday.

Howard made his season debut Friday after missing the first two months of the season with a lat strain, and it couldn't have gone much worse. The Rays bullied him to the tune of four runs in one-third of an inning, as he walked one batter, hit another and gave up four hits. Per Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News, the Rangers believe they called Howard up too early, as he joined the team after making just two rehab outings. He'll continue to get stretched out in the minors and is a potential rotation option if the Rangers get hit with more injuries.
