Caleb Ferguson RP | SEA
Mariners' Caleb Ferguson: Struggling to limit traffic for M's
Ferguson allowed one run on three hits in one-third of an inning Sunday against the Astros.
The Mariners acquired Ferguson from the Pirates ahead of the trade deadline to bolster their bullpen, but he hasn't been particularly reliable for his new team. Through 18.1 innings for Seattle, the southpaw has a 3.93 ERA, 1.53 WHIP and 14:7 K:BB. Given Ferguson's shakiness, Gabe Speier will likely remain the preferred left-handed high-leverage arm for the M's in the future.

Samuel Aldegheri SP | LAA
Angels' Sam Aldegheri: Slated to start Tuesday
Aldegheri will start Tuesday's series opener versus the Royals in Anaheim, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.
The Angels recalled Aldegheri from Triple-A Salt Lake on Thursday after Jose Soriano (forearm) was placed on the injured list in a corresponding move, and since Aldegheri wasn't needed out of the bullpen in the Halos' weekend series in Colorado, he'll end up slotting into Soriano's spot in the rotation. Though he was tagged for seven runs (five earned) in 4.1 innings over his prior two long-relief appearances with the big club earlier this summer, Aldegheri has excelled since the All-Star break while pitching out of the rotations for Salt Lake and Double-A Rocket City, notching a 2.43 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 44:15 K:BB in 55.2 innings. Unless the Angels elect to expand the rotation to six men, Aldegheri will tentatively line up for two starts during the last week of the season, with his second turn set to come in Sunday's finale versus the Astros.

Joey Cantillo RP | CLE
Guardians' Joey Cantillo: Fans five in no-decision
Cantillo did not factor in the decision during Sunday's loss to Minnesota. He allowed a run on four hits and two walks over 4.1 innings while striking out five.
Cantillo gave up his lone run in the third inning. He loaded the bases in the fifth but was not charged with any runs after Erik Sabrowski cleaned up the mess. Cantillo has given up fewer than two runs in six consecutive outings; during that span, he's produced an impressive 1.32 ERA across 34 frames. However, he's also walked 12 batters during that time and has issued 28 free passes in his last 12 starts. Cantillo owns a 3.21 ERA with a 100:42 K:BB through 89.2 innings this season. He's expected to make his final start of the regular season next weekend at home against the Rangers.

Jeff Hoffman RP | TOR
Blue Jays' Jeff Hoffman: Collects 32nd save
Hoffman earned the save in Sunday's 8-5 win over the Royals, allowing one hit and zero walks in a scoreless ninth inning. He did not record a strikeout.
Hoffman got the call to protect the Blue Jays' three-run lead in the ninth. He yielded a double to Mike Yastrzemski, but Hoffman closed things out by getting Bobby Witt and Vinnie Pasquantino to both ground out, and the win clinched the Blue Jays a spot in the postseason. Hoffman has had his struggles this season but has not given up a run in each of his last four outings. He has a 3.71 ERA and 1.24 WHIP across 26.2 innings while converting on 10 of 13 save opportunities since the All-Star break.

Mitch Spence RP | ATH
Athletics' Mitch Spence: Rough outing vs. Pirates
Spence (3-6) took the loss Sunday against the Pirates, allowing seven runs (six earned) on nine hits and two walks over 3.1 innings. He struck out one.
Spence struggled out of the gate Sunday, allowing a pair of two-out runs in the opening inning before the Pirates added on with a two-run homer in the second. It's the first start and second appearance for Spence since he was recalled from Triple-A earlier this month. Overall, the right-hander sports a 4.96 ERA with a 1.41 WHIP and 65 strikeouts across 81.2 innings this year.

Tanner Rainey RP | DET
Tigers' Tanner Rainey: Summoned to big-league club
The Tigers selected Rainey's contract from Triple-A Toledo on Sunday, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Rainey began the season with the Pirates, accumulating an ugly 10.57 ERA and 1.70 WHIP over 7.2 innings spanning 11 appearances. He was released in early July and subsequently signed a minor-league deal with Detroit. Since joining the organization, Rainey has been effective with Toledo, posting a 2.52 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 35:14 K:BB across 25 innings. He'll likely fill a low-leverage spot in the Tigers bullpen over the final week of the campaign. Charlie Morton was designated for assignment Sunday to make room for Rainey on the 28-man active roster and 40-man roster.

Taylor Clarke RP | KC
Royals' Taylor Clarke: Secures fifth hold
Clarke allowed no hits and a walk with no strikeouts over a scoreless inning Saturday against the Blue Jays to record his fifth hold of the season.
The 32-year-old was trusted with the eighth inning of a one-run game Saturday and came through, issuing only a harmless two-out walk before handing the ball off for Carlos Estevez to close. Clarke hasn't been a fixture in high-leverage spots this year, but he's been excellent in the second half, compiling a 1.98 ERA and 0.77 WHIP over 26 outings and 27.1 innings since the All-Star break.

Brady Basso RP | ATH
Athletics' Brady Basso: Scoreless streak continues
Basso threw a perfect inning with no strikeouts in Saturday's loss to the Pirates.
Basso worked a clean eighth inning Saturday in a game where the Athletics' offense couldn't get going. The left-hander was called up Aug. 27 and has been effective since, tossing nine straight scoreless appearances. It's a small sample, but the 27-year-old's early results are encouraging, especially considering he was primarily used as a starter before this year.

Eduard Bazardo RP | SEA
Mariners' Eduard Bazardo: Extends scoreless streak Saturday
Bazardo picked up a hold Saturday against Houston, allowing two hits and striking out two in two-thirds of an inning.
That makes it 11 consecutive scoreless outings for Bazardo, who's been a key part of the Seattle bullpen all year long. The right-hander has a 2.34 ERA, a career-best 0.96 WHIP and 79:26 K:BB over 77 frames. While Bazardo had zero holds in his career entering 2025, he has 12 of them this year.

Luis Garcia RP | LAA
Angels' Luis Garcia: Collects second save
Garcia allowed two hits and a walk in a scoreless inning to earn the save in Saturday's 3-0 win over the Rockies.
Garcia got the save chance because Kenley Jansen stayed back in Anaheim to avoid the risks associated with his atrial fibrillation, which has been aggravated by the altitude in past trips to Colorado, per Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com. Garcia wasn't exactly at his best, allowing multiple baserunners for the fourth time in his last eight appearances, but he was able to get the job done for his second save of the season. The right-hander has added 11 holds while pitching to a 3.48 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 48:25 K:BB over 54.1 innings between the Angels, Dodgers and Nationals this season. Garcia has pitched twice in the last three days, so it's unclear if he'll be available should a save situation arise Sunday.
