  • Red Sox's Masataka Yoshida: Not in Sunday's lineup

    Yoshida is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Yankees, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.

    Yoshida has an .875 OPS in eight games since the All-Star break but will head to the bench Sunday as lefty Carlos Rodon takes the mound for New York. Danny Jansen will make his Red Sox debut at designated hitter in the series finale.

  • Yankees' Giancarlo Stanton: Set to be activated Monday

    Stanton (hamstring) remains on track to be activated from the 10-day injured list Monday, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.

    Stanton has missed a month of action while recovering from a left hamstring strain, but he appears to be set to make his return to the major-league roster Monday in Philadelphia. The 34-year-old will skip a rehab assignment, and he'll attempt to pick up where he left off with the Yankees, having produced a 10-game hitting streak prior to going down with the injury.

    Rockies' Kris Bryant: Not in Sunday's lineup

    Bryant is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Giants.

    Bryant sat out Game 2 of Saturday's doubleheader and will hit the bench Sunday for a second straight game. He's gone 4-for-16 with a double, a walk, four runs and eight strikeouts in four games since being activated from the injured list Tuesday.

    Giants' Jorge Soler: Three hits in nightcap

    Soler went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two runs scored in a 5-0 win over the Rockies in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader.

    Soler was 0-for-3 with a walk in the first game, but he bounced back with a strong showing in the nightcap for his third multi-hit effort in the last four games. The 32-year-old is batting .253 with nine extra-base hits and eight RBI over 21 contests in July. For the season, he's up to a .235/.378/.467 slash line with 12 home runs, 39 RBI, 56 runs scored, one stolen base and 22 doubles over 92 games.

    Martinez is not in the starting lineup for Sunday's game against Atlanta.

    Martinez will get a breather after striking out in all four of his plate appearances Saturday. Brandon Nimmo will serve as the designated hitter Sunday and bat third against Atlanta right-hander Reynaldo Lopez.

    Mets' DJ Stewart: Optioned to Syracuse

    The Mets optioned Stewart to Triple-A Syracuse on Sunday.

    The move is to make room on the 26-man roster for outfielder Jesse Winker, who was acquired by the Mets on Saturday. Stewart has struggled in July, batting 3-for-25 with six walks and eight strikeouts, and has a slash line of .172/.326/.298 across 187 major-league plate appearances this season.

    Malloy is absent from the Tigers' starting lineup for Sunday's series finale against the Twins, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

    Malloy will take a seat Sunday after going 1-for-9 with five strikeouts over the first two games of the series. Mark Canha will serve as the designated hitter and bat in the cleanup spot against Twins right-hander Bailey Ober.

    Schwarber went 3-for-5 with two doubles and a three-run home run in Saturday's 8-0 rout of the Guardians.

    The veteran slugger reached 20 homers on the season when he took Nick Sandlin deep in the fourth inning, one of four Phillies long balls on the afternoon. It was Schwarber's first multi-hit performance since he returned from a groin strain in early July, and his first game with multiple extra-base hits since June 22. On the season, he's slashing .245/.370/.447 with 60 RBI and 67 runs in 93 contests.

    Ozuna went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's 4-0 win over the Mets.

    He took Tylor Megill deep in the fourth inning, the first of three solo shots by Atlanta off the right-hander. Ozuna has gone yard in back-to-back games to reach 30 on the season, and he's finishing July in style, slashing .404/.466/.827 over the last 14 contests with seven homers and nine RBI.
